This hotel was perfect for us. Lovely views of harbour from the restaurant where we had a very good reasonably priced evening meal with local beers. The room was good, clean and comfortable and the breakfast next morning absolutely fantastic. Would definitely return for another stay.
Your not really spoilt for choice in Kirkwall as you can probably imagine but we heard some stories about other places so I think we were lucky to find this hotel The room was big enough for a couple of days stay . Room card was a bit of a drama we had to get someone to let us in a few times (apparently the system had just been installed?)which is ok during the day but more awkward at night. Breakfast was buffet style but the staff in the dining room were friendly and helpful. No aircon and shower pretty weak. Card only payment for room . But it is in a good position on the front and although the window needed a clean the view was good.
We stayed in this hotel in September 2021 for 3 nights. It was very expensive but the only one I could book for three couples together. The rooms were tired and needed a lot of TLC. The breakfast that was served for £235 per night was nothing short of disgraceful. Toast and coffee were brought to table, but you had to queue to be served from buffet trays. The only hotel we stayed at on our trip that were not Covid aware!! Food was cold and greasy and not at all pleasant. I think they were short of staff because there was never anyone on the Reception desk. Rooms were not serviced due to Covid, which I understand but to find anyone to replenish towels tea and coffee was a bit of night mare. Considering the price we payed to stay here it was extremely poor value for money and would not recommend this hotel to anyone.…
I stayed here for 2 nights as part of a business trip. On arrival I was slightly early for check in so the girl on reception kindly let me leave my bag until my room was ready. It was a very rainy evening and on return from my evening meal I was walking through the corridor on the first floor and there was a large patch of the ceiling leaking very heavily. I tried to let someone at reception know but there was no one there. The room itself is not worth the prices they charge, very basic and dated. Looks like a cheaper version of the premier inn but at a more costly price. Shower head looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long while, spider webs in the room and two spiders, hairs on the bed just small things that really put me off. Wouldn’t stay here again and wouldn’t recommend…
We stayed here for 4 nights and had booked a harbour view room. On arrival the hotel could do with a coat of paint on the outside, it looks a bit tired. Plenty of easy parking. Go into reception and find a sign saying find someone int he restaurant so off we went to find someone to check us in. To be fair didn't take too long but a bid odd. The waitress / receptionist was very pleasant, polite and professional. 1st impressions of room were good, nice view out over harbour, seems to have been decorated recently and all pleasant enough. Nice and clean. The bathroom however was small (couldn't swing a cat in it), dingy (no window) and in need of redecoration/refurb. Breakfast was poor. Not good quality ingredients, often items not ready, the waiting staff although pleasant and cheerful seemed disorganised. It appeared that were running below staff numbers they should have been. At the price this hotel charges it should have been better than it was. If we return to Orkney/Kirkwall we would seek other accomodation.…
