This was our first time at this hotel, we had requested a sea view room which was on the second floor. The view was lovely and there was a couple of comfy chairs that you could sit in and watch all the goings on, but you could not escape the fact that the main road was right outside. There was...

It offers you a bed to sleep in, a bar to drink at, food to eat and hot showers. I was not blown away by the hotel but waking up to the view of the harbor made it nice. It has an old elevator with the two doors that holds about three people or just you and your luggage. So...

Having stayed in a number of Premier Inns on our way up to the Orkneys it was nice to arrive at a traditional hotel for a few days. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming. She was helpful with local information on ferries etc. and assured us that we were safe parking outside the hotel as there are no Parking Wardens...

This is an older hotel and it shows. On a CIE tour, we stayed here 2 nights. Space was very tight with little area to put our suitcases.(No racks). The shower had no shelf to put soap/shampoo on. The window ledge in the bathroom provided some space for personal items. The meals were good, and the dining area was clean....

Checked in for a few days for business reasons. The hotel is welcoming, and has charm in a faded grandeur sense. The double room was fine with a great view over the harbour. Breakfast was acceptable. The downstairs bar was fun

Not bad, perhaps a little bit old dated and lacks some maintenance, the room was ample and generous although a bit below my expectations. Bathroom wasn't good, needs some refurbishment. The restaurant and bar are fair, and although the food is superb, the service was not so good and we felt a bit mistreated. All in all, it's recomendable but...

This hotel is a little dated but clean and very convenient for the holiday maker. We were on the 3rd floor with a great view of the harbour. It was very noisy outside on the Saturday night until about2 am. The meals were very good in the restuarant but they have a strange table booking system so make sure you...

The staff at the reception was very kind and helpful. From Kirkwall, I had to take the ferry to the Shetland at 11PM. They allowed me to stay in a reading room for waiting (and resting). The restaurant of the hotel is very good too, with a nice bar managed by young people. The room was a little bit "old...

I had a family funeral to go to unexpectedly and needed a place to stay for 2 nights as I didn't want to have to disturb any of my relations. I have never had to stay in a hotel in Orkney before but would certainly go back to the Kirkwall Hotel. It reminds me of an old slipper, worn but comfy!...

Popped into the Kirkwall Hotel last night at 8.20pm looking for a meal. The place did not look that busy. We were greets by a young boy who muttered something and walked away to the back of the restaurant. We followed him and were sharply challenged by a young female member of staff so we returned to the front of...
