The Imperial Hotel garners high praise for its impeccable service, with staff members going out of their way to meet guest needs efficiently and professionally. Nestled in a prime location, it offers easy access to the seafront and local attractions, while the hotel itself boasts pristine cleanliness and attention to detail. Comfortable and well-equipped rooms with sea views and modern amenities are frequently highlighted by guests.
Although some reviewers note limited dining options or pricing concerns, the overall value and quality of food and services are well-regarded. The ambiance of the hotel, with its ambient decor and themed rooms, adds to a memorable stay.

I booked a short stay at the Imperial for my mother who is not as mobile as she would like to be. During the booking process, I was fortunate in speaking with George. George was friendly, professional and caring. He made it a priority to make sure that everything was as easy and accessible as it could be for my mum. Thank you George!
As for the other staff, I can only say that be it the staff on the desk or staff at breakfast or the cleaning staff, everyone was so so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for the guests.... a sign of a truly good hotel. If you have mobility issues, the Imperial has a stair lift from the entrance up to reception. The lift to all floors is ancient but in fine working order... a real piece of history.
We had rooms at the front of the hotel with sea views and the standard of the rooms was excellent. This hotel still has real keys for each room with no key cards in sight.
Breakfast was a really lovely experience and you really are ‘served’ breakfast because everything is brought to the table, from warm croissants to full English breakfast. The hotel has its own car park as well as paid on street parking during the day. The parking on the seafront is free for disabled badge holders. I would not stay anywhere else but at the Imperial on my next visit to Great Yarmouth.

Most wonderful feedback, thank you so much, especially to hear that someone who has accessibility issues managed to have such a wonderful time as I know our building is not the easiest to negotiate.

We stayed at the Imperial for a couple of nights, taking dinner once at the Cafe Cru restaurant.
The hotel is in a perfect location, right on the sea front but thankfully not the noisiest area. We chose a "King Sea View Room" which was a bit "cosy" as expected (larger rooms do exist but had all been booked).
The bedroom was quite freshly decorated with a "nautical" theme, very clean, comfortable and well prepared. It was equipped with air-con although we didn't need it. The bathroom had a good powerful shower over the bath and lovely big plush towels.
Visiting at a time of coronavirus, we were pleased to see that the hotel was taking precautions seriously.
There was a good choice at breakfast on the terrace and we appreciated little touches like the fresh fruit salad (as opposed to tinned). The "Imperial Breakfast" was a traditional, substantial, "full English" of good quality..
The staff were mostly superb, really friendly and we felt that they were probably a good team. Just one member of waiting staff seemed not quite as "polished", but it appeared he was quite new.
The Cafe Cru restaurant proved a great choice for dinner. I started with local mussels, followed by a main course with lamb prepared in several ways. The menu has apparently been adapted for covid-safe preparation, however we would never have known; it was all extremely good. There is a wide choice of wines including many house wines at reasonable prices.
I believe that The Imperial is still independently owned and that probably helps it retain individualism and character. The only negative I can think of is that the decoration and signage in some of the public areas (especially stairwells) looks dated and would benefit from a "fresher" appearance, although it is perfectly clean and functional.
I would recommend checking the hotel web site directly when booking because there may be offers like the Autumn Break deal I used which had a useful credit towards meals.
Our visit to The Imperial was most enjoyable and no doubt it will not be our last. Recommended!

We stayed here for a weekend getaway. my parents had won a voucher which they were not able to use so donated it to us.
What can I say, apart from amazing! We arrived late on Friday and whilst the kitchen was shut we were offered sandwiches which we enjoyed with a G&T 😊
The room was spotless and so comfortable. We had a Seaview king room. Tea and coffee making facilities were available in the room and some very nice biscuits. The room was tidied and made up when we went out. The staff were friendly, helpful and nothing was to.much trouble.
Breakfast was substantial and tasty. The afternoon tea was well worth the £14 per head. We ate in the Cafe Cru in the evening. The food was well deserving of the 2 rosettes .
Covid secure measures were in place and used by all. Sanitiser was available in all communal area's.
All in all we had a lovely time! Thank you.
Wishing the owners all the best during these uncertain times!!
We hope to come back soon 😊

Without exception, the staff at this hotel were extremely friendly. It's one of the warmest welcomes I've ever had. This included the Cafe Cru Restaurant, bar and at breakfast. It was so relaxing. The rooms was very pleasant, and little notes placed in the right places so you knew where things were - for example the reading lights by the bed - the switches weren't obvious but a little note explained where to look. Also clear instructions on how the shower worked, Jut attention to detail.
The hotel is an old building and this does show a little. But it was clean. comfortable and everything worked, so the maintenance and housekeeping staff are obviously doing a good job.
The food in the restaurant (Cafe Cru) was good as was the breakfast.
I'd definitely return.

Pros: the location was really quiet, yet close to all attractions with free car parking on site. The food was excellent (both breakfast and dinner on The Terrace) and staff were friendly, efficient and flexible in relation to requests e.g. change of restaurant booking location, adapted dishes for dietary reasons and quickly fixed an issue in the room. The hotel was really clean and the room was suitable for a family of four including a really spacious bathroom. The (stony) part of the beach is just opposite and convenient for carrying a load of beach /kids' seaside paraphernalia!
The cons: the decor is really dated throughout the hotel and the carpet looked like it had seen better days in our room - so first impressions were affected by this. The lift is ancient too. We appreciate it's a cost issue in refurbishing a hotel especially in challenging times though. Despite this, we were won over by everything else.

We decided on a last minute few days away and were looking for somewhere dog friendly with gorgeous places to walk.
This hotel decor is a little old fashioned but then again so is Great Yarmouth in general. This hotel is about 5 minutes walk to the main town so just far enough not to encounter all the hustle and bustle but still in a brilliant location. Opposite the hotel are “The Walkways” which have beautiful gardens and lovely to stroll around.
First and foremost, every single member of staff we encountered from booking in last minute on the phone with one of the bosses, to the bar staff were all very helpful, friendly and professional.
Obviously safety and cleanliness is top priority given the current COVID climate. The hotel is spotless and they have taken every possible measure to ensure their guests feel confident and comfortable.
Absolutely loved the tea/coffee/hot choccy in our sea view room and of course the yummy biscuits. Perfect after a long day of walking with our furry boy on the beaches which are literally across the road from the hotel.
The breakfast is completely scrumptious. A lovely choice and so much food to keep you going for hours. We also had dinner one night in the hotel which was equally delicious. It was great that our dog was also able to be with us rather than left alone in the room and he certainly enjoyed the attention.
There was a mixture of couples, young families and mature generations in the hotel with and without dogs. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the service and appreciated the social distancing in place.
In summary if are looking for a great base, comfortable and clean rooms together with excellent service and delicious food then I would highly recommend this hotel. Even more so if you’re a dog owner.
Thank you to Nick and all your staff in the hotel for a memorable few days.

Booked this short break instead of our usual hol abroad, just before the govt decided to restrict our lives yet again!
Fortunately we were still able to go.
Had no great expectations because of the covid19, but was pleasantly surprised.
Been to Norfolk many times when our children were young and so we knew places to visit etc with the hotel as our base.
The hotel is fully adapted for the new rules.
All the staff wear masks and you follow a one way system around the hotel public areas.
There is a free car park for residents and an electric filling pump too.
The bedrooms were cleaned and fumigated every day.
Despite all the privations the staff were lovely. They were welcoming, cheerful and helpful.
It was also great to be served a lovely Full English breakfast and a lovely evening meal in the restaurant. The food though a bit expensive was lovely and piping hot.
In October it is "dog month" and well behaved dogs are as welcome as their owners.
For dogs it is free and of course they have a lovely beach across the road to have a runabout.
The hotel also welcomes non residents for their meals including afternoon tea.
It was always quite busy too.(tables socially distanced of course).
I think the Imperial has dealt with the current crisis very well and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends and would come here again when in the area.

We booked for 5 nights after reading reviews, and everything provided was as per our request and met our expectations. We had a side room with sea views, twin beds as requested, the room was recently updated I would think, oak type furniture, cabinets etc, the bathroom was superb, newly refurbished with the largest walk in shower ever in any hotel, fabulous!
All the staff were brilliant, Tina on reception had many laughs with us behind the face masks, the various breakfast staff were all very attentive, and consistantly trying 100% to please.
The on site car park was never full while we came and went, there is on road parking if needed, and side street as well.
The Imperial is privately owned, the owner is hands on and noticed he did various breakfast duties, obviously intent of keeping up the standards.
Due to Covid, the hotel operates a one way system on the two staircases, never had a problem, plus the lift was used a couple of times.
The building is old but with character, very well maintained inside and out, and is a credit to the owners.
We had booked breakfast option, out of this world, consistantly good, hot and served with interest by the kitchen. The terrace for eating in the morning sun is brilliant, superb views of the beach and sea.
We did not eat apart from breakfast, the menu was "modern" , not my style with the side offerings or portion size etc.
The question is would we go back to the Imperial, and without doubt it is a YES.
We will be returning in the near future due to our seriuosly ill friend, and will be staying at the Imperial

This Hotel is the best Hotel in Great Yarmouth, although not cheap- mid range I would say - it is fantastic value for money. We had a king room, with sea view other members had king room and double room all were serviced to a very high standard. The covid Protocols in place were impressive too. Your full board price includes a daily food allowance of £30 for your evening meal per person. Which was ample. You can either eat in Cafe Cruz or on The Terrace. You can also eat if you wish in the Fizz Bar.- Snacks. Breakfast is to die for with a huge choice but we would all recommend the Imperial Breakfast. Like every where there were problems with staffing with covid etc.
You would not notice, the hotel was at full capacity but everything still happened seamlessly. There was still the attention to detail that we have been accustomed to over the last 30+ years this friendly family run Hotel is well worth a visit. You will not be disappointed.
Unusually there is parking available too with their own car park.

This was our first time visiting The Imperial and Gt. Yarmouth and we absolutely loved it! All staff at the hotel exceeded expectations, everyone we encountered were warm, friendly and very accommodating. As a family we felt safe with the covid procedures that are in place, distancing on the terrace, hand sanitisers, the selling of masks and sanitisers (great idea!) and one way systems on the stairs. Breakfast was amazing, great quality ingredients, wide selections, perfectly cooked and presented with fantastic service. How good breakfast is something our 6 year old, still talks about! The room itself had everything you could need and was very clean and comfortable. We were sad we could not stay for longer!
