booked for bed and breakfast for 3 nights... room was allocated on the third floor, and wit no lift working, was bit of a trek having to go through staff quarter corridors . Room was ok. Booked table in the restaurant for dinner. Starter and dessert was plated however mains was buffet style with chef serving the food in the station. Choice was very limited . food 6/10, room 6/10, overall experience 6/10.

Hotel's Favourite
What a lovely hotel. The staff, grounds, facilities all brilliant, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Checked in and was offered coffee and biscuits in the lounge. Our evening meal was delicious and then a hearty breakfast to start the following day. The room was very comfortable and we had a very good night sleep in our amazingly large bed. Would highly recommend.

The positives are that the staff were pleasant and helpful and the triple room is large and has 2 separate rooms with ample storage. The bathrooms were clean and new, the best part of the room and hotel. However, the whole hotel desperately needs updating and is extremely run down. The facilities were non existent and not as stated. The rooms were dark and very bland, no character whatsoever. Single bed had not been changed from previous occupant, however this was rectified very quickly. The breakfast is buffet style and nice enough. Very expensive for what you get which is very run down hotel and in a not so great location.

Our family were truly spoilt during a recent afternoon tea visit at this wonderful hotel. Afternoon tea was spectacular and the hotel catered for two vegetarians in our family-The service was brilliant , and the selection of sandwich choice delighted us all ! The cakes were amazing - especially the strawberry meringue and sticky toffee pudding ! We had a wonderful view and were shown nothing but kindness and attentiveness from the staff that served us . Thank you - very much ! And we thoroughly recommend the afternoon tea

I've just returned from a midweek tour of the Lakes staying at the Cumbria Grand Hotel. A Victorian building in a lovely woodland setting in the picturesque town of Grange over Sands. The location couldn't have been better for sightseeing. The hotel itself is full of character. My room was large and comfortable, the bathroom spotless and the public areas welcoming. The food was plentiful and of a good standard. Breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold items. The restaurant itself was large and just as well as I have hardly ever seen a restaurant that busy on one night with multiple coaches in. Credit to the staff who worked incredibly hard to provide an attentive and efficient service and all with a smile to their guests. I've found the staff throughout the group generally to be excellent. I'd say the Cumbria Grand is now tied with the Nethybridge as my favourite of Strathmore's hotels and I'll very likely return later this year covid permitting.
