Lough Erne Resort is often celebrated for its luxurious atmosphere, with guests lauding the refined decor, cleanliness, and breathtaking views. While the spacious rooms and picturesque location add to the charm, some travelers feel the value is diminished by costly dining and service that doesn't always meet expectations.
Though the spa and views are highlights, mixed reviews are given to the amenities and service, with several guests encountering slow staff response and upkeep concerns. Cleanliness, however, consistently receives high marks across the resort.

Booked a lodge with 3 rooms for the family. Each room has a massive ensuite bathroom and felt like you were in a 5-star hotel room with beautiful views of the lake. Then you have the massive living room with kitchenette where everyone can congregate for breakfast and to chill in the evening with seating area outside. Speaking of breakfast, they left a huge amount of local sausages, bacon, eggs and potatoes and soda bread to make a fantastic fry. For the price it's excellent value. Now my dad is quite old and finds it hard to walk but the concierge 'Bert' offered to give us a tour of the estate in a buggy. He was so much craic and it really made a lovely end to the stay. It's little touches like that, and attentive and friendly concierges like Bert that adds to the experience. Thank you Bert and to the hotel, we will definitely be back!

From the moment I stepped foot into the hotel lobby I was greeted by the wonderful Mary in the reception area, she was very helpful and it's amazing to have someone walk you through the hotel facilities and tell you about the hotel instead of having to figure it out for yourself. Mary also arranged my wake up call and the delivery of a newspaper for the following morning, in addition, Mary also helped with getting a reservation in the Catalina restaurant that night and she couldn't have been more friendly and hospitable, she was nothing but an absolute pleasure to deal with.
This leads me to the next amazing part of this gorgeous resort, the Catalina Restaurant. I dined late in the evening and Ethan, the restaurant manager and his team were very welcoming and professional. It's the perfect fine dining setting with very clean and well lit rooms and clean/ polished glass and silverware, something I love to see since I work in the hospitality industry myself. Ethan himself personally introduced himself and we engaged in a few conversations throughout the night, it's a pleasure to see someone communicate in the same manner with all his guests, and not just me. It was great to learn more about Ethan and his background in the industry and he ensured that everything was to my likening. I must also give a special mention to the chef, as the soda bread, which is unlimited throughout the night, is divine and an absolute must try if you're dining in the restaurant. Ethan, you and your staff are good at everything you do, you are clearly an asset to the resort and most importantly your staff. You hold yourself to a high standard and that is evident through your level of service given.
Everything from the lobby, to the restaurant and most importantly to the rooms is amazing. The hotel and its staff pay very good attention to their guests and the place is very well kept, with all the little things being clean and in order. The beds are comfy, the toiletries are lush and I must say, the supplier of their coffee in this establishment is extremely good, every cup of coffee tastes amazing.
I would definitely add this resort to your list of places to stay, or even dine. They get everything right, even the small things which make such a difference to paying guests. It's exceptional value for money and this hotel is clearly being managed well, a huge pat on the back to the staff, this industry isn't easy but people at this resort sure do make it worthwhile.

We stayed for one night in the nick faldo suite (presidential suite) overall good stay, grounds lovely and staff very friendly in general and helpful especially Jade and the door men. However, a few improvements required to tweek to 5 star levels to meet the standards we have experienced in other 5 star locations such as: Adare Manor, Europa, Trump international Doonbeg.
Firstly the room although lovely needs some improvements for the price and to meet 5 star levels expected in a room of its category eg: curtain in living room near balcony door is all torn and couch had stains ! Although there was a Christmas tree it was very cheap and fake for a room of this standard it should be real or more expensive type tree. The mattresses of the four poster bed is old and needs replacing and the frame is also near collapse. No turn down service given! The hotel did provide mini bar complimentary and chocolates so thank you, it was much appreciated. Robes and towels tread bare and ravelling & need replacing. Secondly, we ate in the blarney bar which was far from 5 star service. We had to wait over 1 1/2hr for dinner which frankly wasn’t great, our main advertised colcannon potatoes ( received regular mash with 1/2 carrot), we understand the area was busy but it should not take this long for any meal. We had no alternative as we were informed the main restaurants were fully booked out. Service was poor query a lot of young staff in need of direction etc. noted when staff including manager were cleaning tables between guest it was a quick wipe of table with a cloth and no antibacterial spray used not good practice! Piles of dirty glasses gathered lining bar!! Having spoken with Jade post meal she quickly apologised for the experience ( we were not the only guest staying in the hotel to experience this) and at once offered a full refund, this was much appreciated and in my opinion excellent customer service. Finally, breakfast service needs improvements omelette was poor while table service was good. One would except more from 5 star. Overall food/kitchen needs much improvement in our opinion. Overall, location & grounds were excellent and the staff mentioned above were outstanding and in general this is worth a stay and we may return in the future. Also the site has 1 electric car charger which is free, so thank you this was much appreciated.

We stayed here for my brothers wedding. We were looking forward to it and having been here before for afternoon tea on several occasions we thought it would lovely to stay here. When we booked we were told we would be staying in a 2 bedroom lodge and the other room was for a family member. However when we arrived we were given a 3 bedroom lodge. We assumed that the other room would be empty. We were a bit concerned that the front door wouldn't lock and reported this to reception but this wasn't fixed. The room inside have a lock also but as the lodges are accessible from outside it certainly would have felt safer if the front door lock worked.
We were really disappointed with the room. It was outdated, the carpet and furniture was very dirty, so much so we didn't want to sit on the sofa, and the bathroom floor tiles were cracked and the bathroom was just so outdated looking. Honestly, I can say we have stayed in nicer and much cleaner rooms in 3 star hotels.
At 4am we were woke up by loud knowing on our room door. It was a frightening experience and turned out to be a drunk guest who we didn't know who was able to get in as the front door to the lodge was open and couldn't be locked. We didn't sleep after this and it just made our experience an awful one.
Breakfast the next day was a buffet one in a room specifically for wedding guests and the food was cold, not very nice and you couldn't order a cappuccino, just the coffee in a pot was available. We were really surprised that this was the breakfast at a 5 star hotel.
Overall our experience was so disappointing. Some of our family stayed in the main hotel in recently updated rooms and these rooms looked nice and clean. Given the condition of the lodge we stayed in and the breakfast we got we felt the amount we paid was such a waste of money.
The main hotel itself is very nice and when you arrive in the lobby it does feel like you are in a 5 star hotel. The room the wedding was in was beautiful and the grounds are also very nice. However, given our experience we would never think of staying here again. We have paid much less and had a much better experience, including lovely breakfasts in 3 star hotels.

Good afternoon Companion04005473414, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We sincerely apologise for the issues you encountered during your stay, especially on such a special occasion as your brother’s wedding. We are deeply sorry to hear about the problems with the lodge, including the outdated furnishings, cleanliness concerns, and the malfunctioning front door lock. Your safety and comfort are our top priorities, and we regret that we fell short in these areas. Please be assured that we are addressing these issues with our maintenance and housekeeping teams to prevent such occurrences in the future. We also apologise for the disturbance you experienced during the night and the disappointing breakfast service. This is not the standard we strive to uphold, and we will be reviewing our procedures to ensure a better experience for all our guests. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the main hotel facilities and the wedding venue. However, we understand that the issues you faced overshadowed these positive aspects. We recently attended a wedding at the Lough Erne Resort and overall it was a reasonable experience. The hotel is very nice, the food was excellent and the rooms were modern and clean. The staff were friendly but unfortunately seem to have received no training whatsoever. The bar staff at the wedding reception didn't know the location of drinks, didn't seem to be familiar with the cash registers and were unable to count change. They were completely overwhelmed by the number of wedding guest's (220 people approx) and were clearly lacking leadership i.e. a bar manager. The breakfast reception the following morning was terrible, dirty plates, no tea cups, no cold milk etc. When we asked for clean cups, we were told that they only had 140 cups available and all of them had been used. This was at 10am so there was still an hour remaining of breakfast service. So we drank water!!! Hot water, washing up liquid and a brush will solve this problem... This hotel has the potential of being a great wedding venue but unfortunately it wouldn't recommend it to friends or family due to the complete lack of training and leadership from management.

Good afternoon Peter, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on TripAdvisor. We sincerely apologise for the inconveniences you experienced during your stay at the Lough Erne Resort. We are glad to hear that you found our hotel nice, the food excellent, and the rooms modern and clean. However, we are deeply sorry that the service did not meet your expectations. We understand that the issues you encountered with the bar staff and the breakfast service were frustrating and not up to the standards we strive to provide. We have taken your comments very seriously and have addressed these issues with our team. We are committed to providing our guests with the highest level of service and your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve. We are currently reviewing our training programs to ensure our staff are well-equipped to handle large events and provide excellent service. Once again, we apologise for the shortcomings and hope that you will give us another opportunity to serve you better in the future. Your satisfaction is very important to us and we are committed to making the necessary improvements.

Loch Erne prides itself on being worlds apart from all other hotels. Worlds apart from other 5 star establishments. Upset and disappointed is the best way I can describe how we feel after our Santa Stay. I booked a special overnight stay for my wife and three small kids. After receiving a call from the hotel at 11:30 the day of our trip to say that due to weather the Christmas experience was cancelled. As you can imagine, sitting suit cases packed and with three kids ready to see Santa it was not well received. The polite lady offered us the Sunday before Christmas instead but due to work commitments we had to refuse. The decision was made that we would go anyway for the overnight stay and make the most of a stay in a fancy hotel with the kids for a night. In hindsight we should have cancelled. The negative experience didn’t stop there. When we arrived the hotel can taken what can only be described as a sticking plaster approach. A nice man was chatted into wearing the Santa suit in the library and gave the kids gifts. The whole thing was a little awkward. We were very excited to sample the Christmas dinner in the Lochside Bar. If crusty, reheated turkey and under cooked vegetables is how the culinary team show cases their skills they need to rethink things. And this was after waiting over an hour for dinner with three kids. The common theme in the restaurant with the other families who like ourselves couldn’t reschedule was sheer disappointment and dismay at how the management underplayed the whole situation. After dinner we returned the lochside lodge that was gorgeous. Rooms were spacious, and what you would expect from a five star resort. These lodges though are not for families with smaller kids. The second room was upstairs and the kids if they left there room at night could have walked down the stairs where the main door couldn’t have been locked from the inside. So after a nights sleep we promised the girls we would have breakfast and go swimming. The staff at breakfast were lovely. There was a great choice for everyone. So we ordered two omelettes and after some considerable time (45mins) we had to reorder. By this time the kids were restless and so were we. It’s our first experience of ever checking out of a five star hotel and were glad to be returning home. We didn’t even bother going swimming. Five star hotel - yes, five star Santa experience it’s is not. The Loch Erne team asked that we contact them directly if booking again. Really???

This is a really nice hotel, great outdoor surroundings, lovely reception rooms and bar, and the bedroom was amazing and very clean. Very friendly staff. The reason I knocked 1 star off, is due to the service. For a 5 star hotel, I expected top class service. When sitting in the reception rooms, it would be nice for someone to come ask if they could get us something, no-one ever did. Also the breakfast was a let down, we were asked to book a breakfast time, which we did, but we had to queue for 30mins when we arrived. When we finally got seated, the staff were too busy clearing vacant tables, rather than tending to people seated. An improvement on the waiting service throughout would make this hotel top class.

We booked in October last year for a stay this past March with another couple. Arriving into our room the first thing we noticed was we had been given a full disability bathroom complete with wet room, shower seat & shower curtain. I rang to reception only to be told very abruptly the paper trail shows that’s what you booked & that’s what you got. I waited until I talked to our friends who were also staying & they got a similar room which they said they hadn’t booked either. On using the shower the first morning when the shower curtain got wet it almost wrapped itself round your body, not a nice experience thinking how many other bodies it had wrapped itself round in the past & I can’t see housekeeping having the time to fully sanitise these plastic curtains every time someone stays in the room. Also the bathroom flooded every morning. On the first morning after breakfast I decided to try again at reception only to get a very frosty reply. I did find out that the rooms had been refurbished in January & we booked last October so perhaps their web site now reflects this but at my time of our booking it did not. The Catalina restaurant was average my husbands duck was pink on the bottom & dark grey on top & so tough he couldn’t eat it. All our 4 meals were Luke warm. Our friends were charged double the price for their bottle of wine & had to challenge this. Second night we opted to eat in the bar after being disappointed the night before. Again my husbands meal of fish had to be sent back as it was undercooked & not flaking apart. They did replace it. We had to approach the bar staff for drinks as they seem to stay around at the bar chatting. When getting our bill on that night we were being charged twice for the same bottle of wine, they called the waitress over & she couldn’t make head nor tail of her own writing in her notepad. What a shambles, faulty towers comes to mind. I feel that very few of the staff are trained properly in dealing with the public or situations as they arise. It took so long to get it sorted standing at the bar where everyone could hear. Very poor customer service & definitely not 5* I have attached photos of the bathroom & the bed after it had been supposedly made up & the wrinkled bathrobes A big disappearing & definitely won’t be returning

We stayed in room 117, the room seemed relatively clean but upon another look we found it to be quite dirty and unclean. Cobwebs around curtain poles. Brown stains/water marks and dust down side and back of toilet. Black scum/ slim on shower hose and around shower taps/ connections. The pool temperature was very cold and jacuzzi temperature could of been hotter. We found that there was nowhere to lie or relax around the pool and found it unsatisfying that we could only use the relaxation rooms in the spa whilst having a treatment and feel that these should be accessible to paying guests staying at the hotel. On Friday evening we had dinner in the Blayney Bar. I ordered a burger and my wife had the Daube of beef. For a 5 star hotel I found the food and choices very poor. The bap on the burger was hard and tough on the top and bottom as it seemed it had been left sitting out and was not fresh. Upon paying the bill, we paid £91 as stated on the receipt. We were then given different change to what was expected along with a different receipt that had a £4.35 service charge added after we went to pay which I found very poor as we should of been told a out. On Saturday lunch we ate again in the Blayney bar and found the chicken and brie sandwich to be very dry, very little chicken and overall poor. Dinner on Saturday night was in the Catalina restaurant. We found the restaurant very nice but we were completely disappointed with the food. Starter of Duck and a cauliflower starter had a truffle that completely over powered everything on the plate and the duck dish was not what I thought and found inedible. For main we both had the steak and paid a £15 supplement each. The steaks were ordered medium and were more like rare, cooked 30secs at most and were completely inedible again and dish ruined with more truffle. I had chocolate dessert which was also not up to standard and found centre of dessert to be frozen. Overall dinner experience in Catalina was 1 star at best. Very very disappointing and left us unsure if we would return due to this.

The hotel is particularly well cared for inside. The carpets, wallpaper and furnishing are beautifully co-ordinated throughout the building. The Catalina restaurant offers 5* meals at a reasonable price and the service is excellent. . We were greeted with a cordial welcome by the receptionist who did her best to make our stay a memorable experience.
