This is a fantastic hotel. We stayed in the main building wich is full of 16th century character. The room was very nice and very comfortable with a cleverly delivered (large) en-suite although the only niggle I have with Great Fosters is that the bathroom was a bit style over substance. The staff are fantastic and there is alsways someone...

Our second one night stay in this lovely old hotel. originally a Tudor hunting lodge, but much extended. Modern court yard room this time, more airy and practical that vintage room in main house last time. Make sure you leave time to explore the lovely grounds, possible before a leisurely tea on the veranda.

So the main property and grounds are indeed lovely, and the food was nice, but all changed when I attempted to go to bed. I was in a suite in the Cloister, a lovely room, deciding to go to bed, I went into my room. I could not get the aircon to work, its a single storey building with vaulted...

Thank you for posting a review on your stay with us last week. Whilst I was pleased to read that that you enjoyed the building, grounds and food I was disappointed to read your comments about the temperature of your bedroom. We found on the next day that the air cooling system in the Cloisters required a new part and...

As we had such a lovely stay for our wedding anniversary in October we decided to return for my husbands 50th. I must admit I wasn't too happy with the first room we were given in the annexe.. compared to our previous room that we had in the main house it lacked charm. The hotel was extremely busy that night...

Firstly - the grounds are beautiful. It's conveniently located and lovely for strolling around in. Some of the staff were charming and helpful. We had three rooms in the end - one in the main house and two elsewhere and they were all very nice, particularly the new ones. There were a couple of bits that struck a bit of...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your stay with us last Sunday. I am sorry a couple of things soured your stay. I have spoken to our banqueting team regarding the slow provision of an additional bread roll. As you quite rightly mentioned it is a little difficult to interrupt the service of a course...

My wife and I stayed here last weekend as part of our 40th Anniversary celebrations. This is a really beautiful hotel set in amazing formal gardens and grounds. The house itself looks like a set from Wolf Hall!. We had one of the Historic rooms complete with four poster bed, oak panelling and period furniture.(A shame about the cracked sinks...

My wife and I stayed here as we were attending Royal Ascot. We only stayed one night however from the moment we arrived the staff and management couldn't have been more attentive. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Probably built as a Royal Hunting lodge and very much a stately home since the 16th century, Great Fosters is now a prestigious hotel, awarded 4 red stars by the AA. Set amongst 50 acres of gardens and parkland, the hotel is a Grade One listed building blessed with the grandeur of 16th century England and luxurious modern facilities. Its past is evident in the mullioned windows, tall chimneys, fireplaces and brick finials, while the Saxon moat, crossed by a Japanese bridge, surrounds three sides of the formal garden. All the suites and bedrooms are individually decorated. The bedrooms in the Main House are adorned with tapestries and antiques, whilst the bedrooms in The Cloisters are more contemporary in style. The refurbished Coach House offers luxurious accommodation with the latest plasma screens, i-pod docking stations and fabulous bathrooms. The hotel has two restaurants - The Estate Grill has been awarded two rosettes by the AA and serves a simple and seasonal menu with many of the dishes using produce grown on the estate and cooked on a Josper grill. The Tudor Room was awarded a Michelin star and three rosettes by the AA in October 2016 and is an intimate sophisticated restaurant open for lunch on a Thursday & Friday and for dinner from Wednesday to Saturday inclusive. ... more   less
