Difficult to park even after 6pm on a Sunday night as all on street places full (had to go round the block twice).
No reception available until you ask wait staff and someone comes to the entrance.
No difficulty booking in and room on first floor indicated.
Similar to a Premier Inn room but a smaller double bed. Biscuits provided with the tea and coffee tray. Bottled water also supplied each day as tap water undrinkable.
Bed was slightly soft in centre but otherwise comfy. Air conditioning available and window could be opened.
Bath & shower available and room cleaned each morning.
Free parking until 10:00 was not far from the hotel.
Nice church to visit next door.

Times have changed...as a regular to Romany Rye we've noticed a few changes to customer service which has sadly altered our experience.
On arrival, we had to wait with other hotel guests for 20 minutes to book in, and had to stand in the restaurant, whilst people were eating their Sunday Lunch which was awkward.
Several members of staff asked if we were wishing to book in and would get someone to help us, eventually, at 13:55 a member of staff appeared and said we had to wait til after 2pm or she would charge us for coming in early!! In the past we'd always been able to book in early without charges incurred.
She was quite blunt which made me feel unwelcome.
Eventually we booked into our room just after 2:20pm.

On leaving the following morning, we came down to the tiny, cupboard which served as an office to return our keycards....the male receptionist practically ignored us, he didn't even ask if we'd enjoyed our stay.

I feel the customer service is no longer important and the hotel is making cut backs to provide for more dining tables.
No car park, only short stay, nearest one was up the road on a disused piece of land.

A Large comfortable room with tea and coffee facilities, and a very spacious en-suite.
A good night's sleep was had in a very convenient location attached to the Wetherspoons pub.
Breakfast was rather poor, not particularly hot, and low-quality ingredients, but what can you expect for £5? Refillable coffee at breakfast was lovely, and great value.
Be warned, parking is no longer available at this hotel, though we found a spot nearby.
Only downside was that in the corridor to the room it smelled like someone had been smoking...not the hotel's fault I guess.

I stayed here the night before a friend's wedding and couldn't have been more dissapointed. On first glance all seemed to be in order but when I payed more attention is was rather lacklustre. Check in wasnt awful, cheerful enough Chap but clearly had other/better things to do.

The mattress was poor, full of springs and rigid as a pallet of bricks. It wasn't a comfortable nights sleep, particularly with the sound of 200 stiff springs crunching every time you roll. The bed itself was hypermobile, such that when I sat on it, it shot to the other side of the room from under me. lucky I'm still youthful enough to catch myself but if I were 70 or osteoporotic it may have been a different result.

The bathroom had some weird stains on the floor under the sink and the bath Matt was yellowed and old. It all just felt a bit worn and withered with rushed cleaning, adequate at best. The towels were a bit battered. Overall it was generally just dissapointing, £70 isn't a cheap stay anywhere and I'd expect a comfortable and safe bed at the very least.

Top it all off with the employee free reception at check out, so noone was there to voice any complaints to. I'd probably hide away too, poor soul must be fed up of hearing it.

visited 13th August. Held at the door by a doorman who said we needed to wait until a table was free. Great as we presumed tables were being cleaned as Customers left and hygiene was being followed as per government guidelines. Oh no! A few minutes later were told all ok to enter. Went into garden to sit down and order via the app and 5 absolutely filthy vacant tables. Sat at the one with the least plates piled high and ordered. Drinks delivered and no plates taken away. No clean down done. No covid precautions taken. Shocking.

This hotel is run down and disappointing. In addition, our key cards had to be changed repeatedly, including 4 times in just 1 day of our stay, as none of them worked on all doors. The toilet broke and, although repaired quickly, the service room next door indicated a flooding problem. Be prepared to buy water, as the tap water is not drinkable, although we were given bottled water on our last day. The only saving grace was the exceptional staff, who were all friendly and very helpful.

For the price paid for our 2 night stay the room was great value. Very comfortable facilities. Nice touches like 2 x free bottles of water every day, Plentiful tea/coffee and biscuits plus an Ironing board and Iron. All things you don't get in other budget style hotels. Free wi-fi and efficient air con also a bonus.
Didn't give a 5 star rating due to the areas of ingrained dust particularly in the bathroom around the towel rail. However this didn't affect us too much as we're not that fussy and with a Wetherspoon pub attached what more can you ask for!!

Situated in the attractive town of Dereham we had a very pleasant stay. There is one hour free parking here but it one of those no return in two hours things so we used the council free park across the road. Think traffic wardens are a problem here.
This is a nice Wetherspoon s large with outside facilities also. Room was good value clean and spacious All staff friendly and helpful.
Verdict - would definitely return

Booked many times at Weatherspoons usually great value, and receptionist to discuss any issues ,not at Romany Rye.
Our toilet wouldn’t flush reported to cleaner ( no one else to talk to,by the way she was lovely)but not sorted ,Thursday no water at all ,we had to go to a Supermarket to have toilet and to freshen up,during the day I phoned to ask if water was working and to discuss the issue of getting up and going to supermarket etc ,and was offered a free breakfast,I refused ,nothing else offered, not good from our point for the massive inconvenience.
Bar staff excellent food reasonably good.

We had a good stay the room was clean and fresh and I could not fault it. We had a nice meal and then booked in the staff was really friendly and helpful.
The next morning we checked out and had breakfast. It was fairly busy but we found a table there was a slight wait but it's cooked fresh so no problems there overall I can recommend staying and eating here
