the food was delicious, however there were complications that we encountered. When our mains arrived the waitress had misunderstood our order and therefore a member of our party was forced to wait an extra 20 minutes for his main. This was less than ideal, furthermore nothing was done to make up for the inconvenience. However overall the environment is lovely...

Thank you for your review following your visit for lunch and I do apologise for the error made on the part of the waitress. Beverley realised her mistake immediately and I know she spoke with the gentleman concerned and I feel that with the very understanding nature of your party she thought everything was fine. I do, however, appreciate that...

What to say? Usual afternoon tea fare. Sandwiches, scones, cakes and tea or coffee. Very nice public area, clean and tidy with attentive staff. So why do I feel something was missing. First, "festive", a thin slice of Christmas cake and a miniature mince pie was all that defined festive. Probably considered "naff" but why not a Christmas cracker at...

Thank you so much for your very constructive review and we will certainly be looking to introduce a more "festive" ambiance for next Christmas with regards to afternoon tea and will include your suggestions at the planning stage. The festive tea does differ from the usual offering with turkey sandwiches, brie sandwiches and cinnamon scones together with the parts you...

We visited the hotel over a weekend in November to celebrate my husbands birthday and to get together as a family. This is our second time to the hotel and each time we visit, we feel at home as soon as we walk through the door (which is unusual as we have two young children and sometimes you can worry...

My family and I recently visited the Captains Club Hotel for a long weekend away together. The hotel and rooms are absolutely stunning with gorgeous views of the river. I can't thank the attentive staff enough. They were so kind and helpful with every aspect of our stay. They were able to advise us with all dietary requirements and the...

We had a lovely summer lunch sitting on the patio with a pint of lager and some light bites after a long walk back from the sea and the quick ferry crossing. The service was good but the whole lunch was very calm and enjoyable and we were allowed to have our dog with us.

The facilities in the suite are excellent and ideal for families who require independent catering facilities as well as having use of the excellent room service. The outlook is over the river and quiet and peaceful. We are visiting in winter and the rooms are warm and extremely well appointed. My only criticism is we are unable to use the...

Many thanks for writing such a lovely review about your recent stay in one of our suites. I am so pleased that you enjoyed your time with us and glad that you appreciated room service. We came here with friends whilst in the area. The place is clean and modern but with many tables filled was too noisy to converse without shouting (which just added to it) no carpeting or drapes to absorb the sound. Retired to the lounge in search of peace but the pianist, who was good, had clearly thought he was entertaining...

Thank you for taking the time to review your visit and I am sorry that you felt let down by the level of noise and the enthusiastic pianist! It is a shame that when you enjoy such excellent food and service that something else gets in the way. I appreciate that the hotel can be very busy and thus noisy...

I have been here for 5 weeks for business. The hotel is lovely but the staff make the stay feel like home. Special thanks to Anita who is always welcoming and brightens the morning. Very accommodating and remembers my special request for breakfast - it's the little things that make the difference. Thank you!!
