Found this delightful little pub on Stayinapub.com and what a find it was. Situated in the middle of nowhere, but not too far from Chippenham, it is a delightful country pub in a modern style but with character. We didn’t know, but the new owners Freddie and Annaleaz had only taken over a few days previous, but clearly have experience of running such a venue and everything was managed beautifully. A warm welcome late afternoon followed by a pint of real ale was a good starter. There are only two rooms, but they are nicely appointed and a reasonable size with a small TV, tea and coffee making facilities, nicely appointed bathroom and a reasonable sized bed, although if you are after a firm mattress, the bed we had would not suit you, but as a back sufferer, it didn’t do me any harm for one night. Breakfast was good and we also ate there in the evening and had a superb meal which is subject of a separate review. If ever we are back down that way, we would certainly look to stay there again.

Delicious goats cheese salad, followed by beer battered halloumi (my husband had pate followed by the fish and chips) washed down with good beer and wine. Felt safe and the restaurant has screens between the tables. Great service as well. Thank you.

Our hosts from our holiday apartment recommended this place - & we were so glad they did! On arrival, Sarah welcomed us and verified our booking (Covid measures in place). Our dog was also welcome inside. Although there was a tempting selection of starters, wife & I opted for main course & desserts. It well worth waiting while our food was cooked. My main was a vegan mushroom & ale pie with homemade chips & peas. The pie was an absolute Tardis of mushrooms - the more I ate, the more were revealed below. Flavour was fine and full-bodied. Wife opted for the steak & ale pie - which she also enjoyed. There was a good selection of desserts and we both chose from the selection of homemade ice creams. Among the flavours we tried were: cherry, Horlicks (yes!), plus raspberry & mint. They were all very distinctive flavours and free from artificial ingredients. Sarah was a good host and whilst we awaited our food, she told us a little of how she and Neil have created such a diverse selection of foods.

Wonderful toasted tuna sandwiches and the best chips ever - generous servings and a good price too. We will be frequent visitors. The setting is quiet and beautifully presented, ideal for a walk or stop off place for cyclists like us. Strongly recommended.

We stayed here for three nights and ate in the hotel restaurant each night. Our room was comfortable and well appointed (although the shower was a little small). Breakfast was juice, yoghurt, cereal and a good choice of cooked items. We had some delightful evening meals in the restaurant. One evening we simply ordered several of the appetisers and a cheeseboard to share. The icecream is highly recommended as it was homemade and delicious, especially the Horlicks and the raspberry and mint flavours. This inn is located down some very narrow roads in a quiet spot in the country. Highly recommended!
