Such a lovely place to stay...high quality, spotless and good value. Food...the freshest vegetables and absolutely gorgeous food. Open fires and cosy with nooks to sit in. Mixing with the locals and hearing the history was priceless. Would I recommend this quaint old pub to any travellers looking for some history and a massive warm welcome. Absolutely!

This is a country pub that is everything you can imagine a country pub should be. Very old with a fascinating history , ghost(s) ? that make your dog sit up take notice. Wood burning stoves and a great atmosphere. Staff are very welcoming and attentive and locals friendly...generally but always entertaining. Food is lovely

Sometimes you just get lucky. I came upon this gem on one of the booking sites a few hours before I landed. The room I had was recently refurbished and was exceptional. As the pub is in the middle of nowhere the water pressure isn't great so plan ahead and start running your bath early. The owner couldn't do enough...

Lovely hotel and country pub. Great food in the evening. Very helpful about leaving breakfast for us as we had any early start. Very comfortable beds and lively rooms. Would return for a more relaxing weekend.

From the moment we walked through the door to when we left the next day, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast it's safe to say is THE BEST ever. Just brilliant. Log fires very welcoming Taxis ordered, drinks in the bar after the party at the relatives house was over. Just fab. Very personal service. Couldn't fault the Old...

Recently came back from a second horse racing jaunt here after having had such a great time last year. (Handy for Newton Abbot & Exeter Races). The choice of food and drink was very good so did not even have to think about going somewhere else for an evening meal. The owner and staff were friendly and helpful and when...

After arrival we went to have a shower only to find that room 8 only has a hand shower on bath tap also water trickled out. Spoke to reception and they were unable to offer any help. Talking to other guests they did not have this problem. Next morning I spoke with Manager who advised that the bathroom has just...

Perhaps a little off the beaten track for some people but we loved this beautiful historic building. The rooms are freshly renovated with comfortable, modern furnishing. Only Point of criticism with the room was that when the people above us trampled around (seemingly all night) it could be heard below, but that is part of staying in such a building...

Good local atmosphere with Otter beer on tap a particular highlight. Food is simple but not too bad. The village is fairly small and typical of the type but well worth the detour through some fairly narrow roads but beware meeting a bus. You will not get past! Well worth a visit.
