The Roman Camp hotel has serious character! The building is gorgeous and has some amazing history, so it's well worth taking the time to wander around and explore the house and gardens/grounds. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with some lovely views - ours faced out onto a beautiful enclosed garden. On a wintry afternoon, would highly recommend grabbing your... More

We stayed here night. We arrived in the dark so didn't see the grounds. The entrance was warm and welcoming on a very cold night, with an open coal fire burning. Nice welcome in Reception. we were shown to our room which was on the ground floor. Really nice, warm and cosy, really big bid, amazing bathroom. There was a... More

This hidden historical house is fabulous, like something out of a film like The Secret Garden or Lion witch and the wardrobe! Wonderful old rooms, real coal fires and amazing garden and surroundings. Extremely welcoming and friendly staff, all keen to ensure you have all you need. The food was very good and has an extensive wine list. It's not... More

Roman Camp is a unique experience, a hotel unlike any other I have stayed at. The sense of history and splendor over the years is amazing to see. The library, the conservatory, the hallways and the rooms....there are hundreds of years of luxury on view. We stayed in the Yellow Parlor Room. It was so beautiful and had a view... More

The food was outstanding - a delicious menu for our Grand Afternoon Tea. Compliments to the chef for a varied and tasty menu with lots of complimentary flavours and combinations. The venue is 'period' with lots of character and we were in the library beside a roaring fire, overlooking the gardens and adjacent river. Staff were pleasant and courteous but... More

This is the third time we've stayed here, and we've loved it every time. The rooms are sumptuously furnished. The bathroom [ours was in the base of the turret] had a two-seater Jacuzzi bath as well as a circular shower cubicle. Between the two, we even had our own sitting-room with television, still or sparkling water, tea-tray, comfortable sofa and... More

Quaint, charming, unique and beautiful. And the house is super quiet as it's not on the street. Small but functional room for a quick overnight stay. Try Mohr fish and chips in town! But have the breakfast at the house

This is a hotel dating back to the 1200's with lots of character. The shared rooms were lovely with fires going in most of the rooms. There is even a small library and a hidden chapel on the main floor. These are rooms you can enjoy and the decor is lovely. Our room was on the small side with very... More
