The hotel is a typical country house hotel with lovely public rooms. The food and service is excellent. Sadly, our bedroom let the hotel down as the décor and furnishings were very tired and dated. The bathroom had recently been refurbished to a high standard, but the bedroom was nowhere near the same standard. We have stayed in hotels that...

Food, service and surroundings are superb here. Had the set lunch. Amazing value for money and lovely dishes ... So tasty. The hotels interior is beautiful and reflects a past splendour without being drab or faded. The grounds outside are equally beautiful and well cared for. An oasis of relaxation and good taste without being stuffy. Shall definitely be back

Attended a wedding here in January and it is an absolutely stunning venue. The actual ceremony was in the library and it felt very personal and special. It was very cosy with all the lovely fireplaces lit. The meal was the best I have ever had at a wedding. Beautiful.

Last weekend we celebrated our son's wedding at Roman Camp and from the moment we arrived the staff did all they could to ensure that our son and his future wife had the wedding they wanted. Any request was accommodated and the guests and wedding party were all well looked after. The food throughout the weekend was exceptional - from...

If visiting Callender, try to call at The Roman Camp Hotel for an afternoon tea experience. It must be on everyone's To Do list. We were camping near Callender and had been told about this hotel by family who had been staying there earlier in the year. It was wonderful, made our holiday.

Well passes our test - "Would we come again?" We have, and we do, every time we come to Callendar. This is the second choice we'd go to after our absolute favourite in Cumbria. Good service, lovely food, and beautiful surroundings. The Roman Camp has all the faded elegance that we're used to in really excellent restaurants in France without...

My wife and I celebrated our wedding here on 14th December along with 18 close friends and family. Shona and her staff really looked after us. The food was superb. The atmosphere was so chilled out and relaxed. Someone commented that this was probably the best wedding they had been to. We had the Star suite for our wedding night....

We stayed here for a night in May. We had the Barrie suite where JM Barrie may have stayed when he was writing Peter Pan. Lovely rooms with great views of Garden. The sitting room was cosy with apples and drinks to keep you refreshed. There was a lovely comfy bed and every facility you could think of. Only down...

we stayed 1 night at this property for a family wedding. The property is surrounded by lovely gardens and it snowed overnight adding a fresh sparkly layer to everything. Our room was large and decorated in an ornate style which was sympathetic with the public reception and lounge areas of the hotel. We had a king sized bed and a...

Just returned home from the prefect pampered Christmas getaway at the lovely festive Roman Camp (2nd year on the trot). We were greeted with a lovely warm welcome (literally) with all the big fires roaring in the rooms and as ever the perfect hosts with all the wee personal touches which just added the extra sparkle for us. Christmas Eve...
