Hartland Quay is a really atmospheric site reminding you of the days of shipwrecks and smugglers. There is a dramatic backdrop of cliffs with the strata starkly marked. The pub is friendly with simple fare and good real ales. Good prices and quick service. There is seating inside and out. beware of the quirky serving times in the day. We saw...

This is a nice pub in a great location. It was slightly disappointing that we couldn't get down to the little beach with the dog. An added bonus was the little Shipwreck Museum, which is above the shop - really fascinating.

Although the hotel is not modern or brand new it's an amazing place to spend a week or so especially in spring. The staff is very professional and friendly. Don't forget to have walking boots for local walks. Hills and cliffs are spectacular, the ocean breathes as a living being, flowering gorse shrubs smell gorgeous! Devon is one of the...

This is a real gem. It is not flash, but it has one of the most dramatic settings in England. When you arrive you will be impressed by the rugged beauty of the coastline. The rooms are very comfortable and the added advantage is the pub, Wreckers' Retreat is an added advtantage.

Spent a very pleasant evening in the Hartland Quay Hotel where we enjoyed a very warm welcome in this busy restaurant right next to the beach where the scenery is spectacular. The staff are friendly and the menu varied and well cooked. A slight delay due to a mix up between tables was dealt with very apologetically and without question...

Great meal at a reasonable price sat on the benches outside in the sunshine enjoying a pint and a lasagne. Good choice of both ales and food. Shame we couldn't take our dog further than the pub tables though due to the restrictions which didn't allow dogs on the cliff or on the beach.

Busy pub, nice atmosphere. Disappointingly ran out of fish and chips but our other choices, very tasty. Family ate for £25. Happy with that. Stunning views of coast. Easy access to beach and coastland walks.

A good stay prior to coast path walk. Good dinner that evening and great breakfast before the walk. Left a couple of jackets behind and very helpful Laura packaged up took to the PO and sent next day to home.

Called in again after almost a year and it's still has character and pleasure. Decently priced and tasty lunch for four of us. Nice to see the old place and we wonder what happened to the Johns family who managed it for many years. By the way we're left wondering about complaint listed here about dog restrictions. There are acres...

Went here today with my family and our two small dogs and feel badly cheated by their website which gives the impression of this being a dog friendly place. The £2 fee for the 'Toll Road' stated no dogs on the beach (fair enough), but the only place they could go was the car park or the dark and shady...
