Detailed Reviews

Having previously visited Tickton Grange for an enjoyable afternoon tea and a super Sunday lunch I decided to book an overnight stay and the tasting menu package for an anniversary treat. An excellent decision. The hotel itself is very pleasant, intimate and relaxed, well appointed and tastefully decorated. The staff were warm and welcoming.
Our room was actually quite small but nicely furnished with everything you might need for a short break. An actual wardrobe may have been nice but I suspect the size of the room meant this wasn't possible. The beverage tray was well stocked with various drinks, including some chilled water and delicious fresh baked cookies. The adjoining bathroom was quite palatial and pretty with further storage drawers, a lovely deep bath and a separate shower, plus a huge selection of toiletries and other pieces that people sometimes forget to pack (comb, razor, toothbrush) - a thoughtful touch, ditto the hot water bottle (though we didn't need it) and ironing board.
The bed itself was, again, quite small but I have a Super King Size at home so I am a little pampered in this respect. Even so I slept really well, to the point that, when I awoke in the morning, I initially forgot I was actually in a hotel and thought I was in my own bed! Surely a sign of an excellent night's sleep if ever there was one. The room was very quiet which I suspect helped a lot. We didn't hear other guests or staff at all, bar the occasional crunch on the gravel outside and the odd passing chicken.
The tasting menu was delicious from start to finish. Served in the modern but comfortable Hide restaurant, we were delighted with numerous courses, all well cooked with genuine skill and beautifully presented at every turn. Some tasting menus can leave you hungry, others somewhat overfaced but the portions were perfectly judged in this instance. My palate was entertained and my hunger was sated - perfect. Attentive service in a relaxed setting.
Breakfast was included in the price of our booking and, while it wasn't the most impressive I've ever had it was perfectly enjoyable. Scrambled eggs (me) and a Full English (him) with a fruit salad and croissant. There were lots of other choices so definitely something for every taste and/or dietary requirement. Again, service was quick and pleasant.
Check out was swift and efficient. We spent a few minutes wandering the pretty grounds before our taxi arrived. The house looks lovely from the outside and, on a warmer day (it rained while we were there) I would have very much liked to spend an hour or so sitting outside with a cocktail enjoying the view. Perhaps next time.
I would not hesitate to return or recommend Tickton Grange. A genuinely excellent meal in a very well presented hotel.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and had a great time. Breakfasts were delicious but the star of the stay was the tasting menu which was superb. The chef even tailored the menu to my wife's dietary needs and supplied her with a professional looking pre-printed menu to match mine which was a nice touch. All the staff were very nice and friendly without being too overbearing. A bonus of the stay were the families 3 chickens which are pets of the owners granddaughter which just roam around and tidy up any crumbs from afternoon tea on the terrace and are a hoot to watch. The free toiletries are the best we've ever had at any hotel.... another nice touch. Beatuful grounds also. We would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

We spent a delightful two days at the hotel visiting relatives. The rooms are full of old charm (including the creaking floor boards) and we were looked after very well by the staff. The food is excellent as is afternoon tea and the staff are very friendly and welcoming.

We booked the tasting menu with a night stay, truffles were forgotten which was disappointing as it was a special occasion for our party of 4. I have to say although the tasting evening food was fine ( serving staff could cheer up a bit) but the rest of the stay was Poor to be generous. The room was not clean ( see pics) the breakfast was minimal and we were sat at a table that hadn’t been cleaned since the previous people were there, crumbs and plate marks we asked to move but they then sat some poor other people there ( not covid safe at all!) we were served cold coffee (returned and replaced) then our breakfast was given to another table so the other 2 in our party had to eat their breakfast whilst we waited for another. (15mins) The older guy was great and was the only staff member to chat to you. Overall not worth the £295 per room at all! Not covid safe either

We recently stayed at Tickton Grange again, having first visited in a November 2019. I had meant to review the hotel then, because we had had such a lovely stay. When we knew we were coming back to the area, our first though was to stay at the Tickton Grange again and so was relieved to see that it had reopened. Things are slightly different there now due to restrictions placed on hotels caused by COVID-19.
Paul and his staff are coping excellently. As usual, Paul is still giving his guests his personal attention, and his hard working staff are welcoming and friendly; nothing is too much trouble.
Things that have changed: the bar menu has been reduced, and what is on offer now are ‘boards’ - charcuterie, picnic, fish and vegan. Steak and chips is still on. The first evening I had the vegan board, and my friend had the fish board. We added a bowl of chips. The ‘fine dining’ restaurant now offers tasting menus consisting of 7 dishes. Somewhat surprisingly, in our various travels, we had never experienced a tasting menu before so decided to give the one at Tickton Grange a try. Glad we did. Totally delicious. All the little courses, which included two desserts, were beautifully presented and packed with flavour. We were also full afterwards. We enjoyed our dinner so much, that we ate in the restaurant again.
Breakfast is now ordered the night before, and served on trays. As before, the breakfast choice is plentiful and the ingredients top quality.
The substantial grounds in which the hotel is set are well maintained, and lovely to walk round. Because of the virus, the hotel’s wedding bookings have had to be put on hold for a year which is a great shame as it’s obvious a lot of thought has gone into making the establishment a perfect setting for weddings.
The location of the hotel is perfect. Not far from the lovely town of Beverly, it is also ideally placed for the coastal resorts of Filey, Hornsea, Bridlington and Scarborough.
We aim to be back in November.

Since our last visit much has changed for the better, the refurbishment of the reception and main bar are excellent which made the dining room look a little tired. However I gather that there are plans in hand for refurnishing.
On the last visit dinner was a bit ordinary, this time it was anything but ordinary, the menu gave plenty of choice without over-facing us, the food was inventive and beautifully presented. Chef came to speak with us and we were able to congratulate him personally on our dinner, which was nice for us. The service by the young waitress was also most sensitively given.

First time visit to Tickton Grange - we had a Christmas Day lunch and the food was simply perfect . The service was friendly and not ‘stuffy’ which added to the experience . The hotel let itself down with the cheapest Christmas crackers that money can buy which is very strange considering the location and cost of the luncheon . The small room we were in was very cozy but so, so cold -next year k will wear a sweater

Me and my partner stayed here for the weekend which the room was clean till we started to open the bed side drawer which had someone elses cookies left in there half eaten. The TV in the room wasn't working correctly, and kept losing picture with no signal warning. If you turned off and left 20 minutes would work again, but the picture would keep breaking up like it was raining outside. By the following morning the TV didn't work at all, which looked dated and needed to be upgraded.
For the evening meal, we was on relax package, and I cannot fault the food which was nice, but the only downside to this, you didn't have dessert choice, and was given a taste of the afternoon tea buns, which wasn't great. The relax package, just needs to have at least 2 or 3 options for desserts.
We had to hand in our breakfast order the night before, which was fine. The following morning, we got to our table, the same staff from the night before, no longer wearing face masks, apart from 2 them. What we found strange was, the staff member who seated us, told us our food is ready and would be out shortly.
A couple of minutes later, the food was out, which wasn't what we ordered and the staff member had vanished. We thought this was very odd, and maybe because we was on the relax package, we had no choice in breakfast.
Once we had finished, someone came over to clear the plates away, and I mentioned I think you make a mistake and a mix up with the order which I was told, I know, but the staff didn't apolosie for this, or ask if we still wanted the rest of our breakfast order, to make up for the mistake. I even hinted I still wanted the rest of my order, but the member of staff just looked uninterested.
On checkout, I told the guy on reception who said yes they was a mix up with the breakfast order and handed me a bill of £217 for the overnight stay, and still no apology for the breakfast mistakes. I was shocked at the price of this room, this hotel is not value for money at all, and the staff do not go the extra mile, or even smile who look unhappy to be there.
I wouldn't stay at this hotel again which is clearly 70% overpriced. When leaving the hotel, I just felt I had been ripped off.

We chose the Tickton Grange Hotel Beverley for my husband's 80th birthday celebration and we are so glad we did. The whole evening worked beautifully. The hotel staff could not have been more attentive and professional. The Rose Room was elegant and sophisticated and looked stunning . Our 60 guests were accommodated very comfortably. We chose roast beef and Yorkshire pudding for the main course and it was fabulous. The beef was done to perfection and people were commenting on the high quality of the meal and the presentation the ay after.. It was superb with both vegetarian and vegan options.
We highly recommend this hotel. Twelve couples of our guests stayed at the hotel and could not praise it more highly.. The rooms were very comfortable and superbly decorated with lots of little additional touches such as combs, and shavers etc. Set in its own grounds with the hens running around it is very picturesque. Well worth a visit or holding a major event there. You will not be disappointed.

I’ve been waiting for a telephone call which was promised since we raised our issues, as that was over 2 weeks ago, and no call, I’ll now complete this feedback. We chose to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary with a stay and dinner in the honeymoon suite, we had read so many great reviews, we were so looking forward to our special evening, we didn’t expect any acknowledgement or special treatment but we did request a quiet and romantic table, that’s all. During our main course staff started pulling tables and chairs around, not in any quiet fashion at all , almost throwing them around next to us in order to set the table up next to us for 5 men. The group were extremely loud, so much so we couldn’t even have a quiet conversation and hear each other, so we sat in silence for the duration of the meal. We did not understand why they were seated where they were as the restaurant was practically empty. So instead of enjoying a night cap we returned to our room. I was so upset and extremely disappointed with how our wedding anniversary dinner had gone, not just any anniversary but our 25th. After breakfast the next morning we returned to our room and decided to at least enjoy that until we had to check out, we were relaxing on the bed in robes thankfully when a member of staff entered the room without knocking , it was a shock , she mumbled something inaudible and left. It was 10.10am , I then wondered if I had got the check out time wrong , there is no telephone to call reception to check and so I spent 10 minutes reading everything in the room to see if I could confirm check out time , nothing written anywhere, I went online onto the company website, again through navigating around it, I still didn’t find this information, finally I went onto booking.com to read the hotel policy , where 11.00 am was confirmed. So by this time it was 10.45 , what a shame to have had to spend over half an hour to find this out , spoilt the morning , spoilt the whole experience really. Once downstairs checking out, I addressed all of this with the person in charge , I was almost in tears, I was so upset. He assured me my concerns would be fedback and I would receive a telephone call . So our bill was then presented to us which was if I remember £134 , so I questioned this as this was way too much, we were staying on the room, breakfast and simply Tickton Menu included. The receptionist checked receipts and he confirmed that we had in fact been charged for all of the dinner and drinks we had eaten the night before , we should have been charged for an additional £10 each for steak dishes and then we had 2 drinks from the bar and a cheeseboard, obviously realising the hotels mistake, he informed us that as a goodwill gesture he would not charge us for the extras. He apologised and said he would bring this up with the managers and I would get a telephone call . I have had no missed calls in the last few weeks. You not only let us down but you let yourselves down.

We have went here several times for afternoon tea and always had exceptional service, friendly and nice food.
Suggest you phone the hotel
You would need to check as we had a ground floor room but the bathroom was down a couple of steps and the shower was in the bath.
Hi
Thanks for your query. I hope you enjoy the wedding at Tickton Grange when you visit us! We are just finalising our new drinks menu which we aim to have on our website by the end of the week. We will post it with all our menus on the 'EAT' page of our website. Hope this helps.
