We choose the Red Well as the reviews on Trip Advisor were good. The place was nicely set out and also clean. 4 of us went, we all had different main meals, we choose from the menu 2 meals for £16.00 good selection to choose from. This was excellent value for money. The quality and quantity were good. We were...

Stayed just one night here with an nCrowd deal, on our way up to Durham. Very welcoming staff, and food exceptional! Limited menu included in the deal but I chose smoked haddock risotto for a change. It was fantastic, with lots of smoked haddock and a poached egg on top. The breakfast was one of the best. Whilst my husband...

This is the second time we have stayed here and once again could not fault either the service or the accommodation. The staff were friendly, efficient and nothing was too much trouble. The food was, as usual, excellent and beautifully presented. We had no fault to find and will certainly return!! Thank you Simon and your staff for being so...

The food was very good in the evening and the breakfast also was very good, The staff on duty were very...

Located just outside Barnard Castle this is a wonderful location. The bar was pleasant, the staff were great. What more can one say. EXCELLENT ! !

We visited here for Mothers Day lunch as we were staying nearby. Having e-mailed Simon prior to booking asking for a menu to be provided I received a prompt reply. Lovely food and polite friendly staff. Service was unhurried and everything we needed was provided. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Just on the edge of Barnard Castle, easy to find with plenty of parking. We had a twin room on the first floor, it overlooked the main road but traffic noise not too bad. The room was clean and beds comfortable. The bathroom light switch was in a strange place and took some locating! The evening meal was tasty, although...

We returned to this hotel having stayed here in November and subsequently recommended it to 2 family members to book. One couple stayed last weekend and had enjoyed their stay (the other 4 are due here next month). We had a different room this time (4) with french doors leading to a rooftop terrace, the room was lovely and warm...
