Nestled along the shores of Lake Windermere, Storrs Hall hotel is lauded for its idyllic location, offering guests exclusive lakeside views that have garnered much praise. While the rooms are celebrated for their comfort and contemporary amenities, some guests have noted occasional noise and air conditioning issues. Visitors revel in the hotel's elegant ambiance, where traditional charm meets modern sophistication. The array of amenities, including diverse dining options and lake access, enhances the guest experience, as does the commendable service provided by the attentive staff. Although the hotel's cleanliness is consistently acclaimed, the dining experience's value is contentious due to the high prices.

Only a 5 minute drive from Bowness and plenty of free parking available at the hotel
We were given a quick tour around the hotel to show us where everything was and then shown to our room
We booked a superior room and it was quite a size
Massive comfy bed and bathroom with a shower and bath and all your added extras – shampoo, conditioner, body wash
The room comes equipped with coffee machine, kettle, hair dryer, iron etc
We booked our evening meal in the bar and could not fault the food but the drinks were overpriced
Breakfast was amazing with a very good selection of teas, coffees, juices, croissants, fruit salads, cereals to cooked breakfasts, rarebit and eggs benedict with lovely views of the lake when sitting in the conservatory
The hotel is set in a gorgeous location with nice gardens
The staff are really friendly and helpful and are all wearing masks for Covid.
Hotel Guests have to wear them too apart from in your bedroom and when eating and drinking in the bar/restaurant.
Would definitely recommend this hotel for a stay in the Lakes

My boyfriend booked this hotel as a surprise trip for my 30th birthday. He booked directly on the Storrs Hall website and mentioned in the notes section that it was a surprise booking for a birthday and asked for any tips to make the visit special, but unfortunately he had no response from the hotel.
The hotel is in a great location and of course as it is on the lake the views are amazing. We checked in and was taken to our room. There was a postcard on the bed with a birthday message from the hotel, considering it is a 4 star hotel, we felt that a postcard was quite a cheap gesture for a guests 30th birthday. Personally, I feel for the price (£685) for a classic room for 3 nights you'd expect a bit more from the room as it felt quite small. There wasn't even a fridge. The walk in shower was very nice though, and the bathroom was modern and spacious. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and can't fault the friendly, attentive and professional service from the waiters. The food was fantastic too, very high quality and well presented. It was very expensive but worth the money. On the second night we ate in the bar, again the service was great and the food was also good, food such as burgers and steak were on the menu so it was nice to have a slightly cheaper option of a meal. Our booking included breakfast, there was a good choice of food on the menu such as porridge, yogurt, fruit salad, toast, vegetarian, full engish breakfast, croissants and jams and more. Face masks were compulsory in public areas inside the hotel. I can't fault how friendly all the staff were at the hotel but left feeling that it is a lot to pay just for a room for 3 nights.

We went to the boathouse for 2 nights for a surprise engagement trip in October.

The hotel itself is a traditional english hotel with a luxury modern touch. Check in was very easy.

The Boathouse is genuinely absolutely amazing. It is accessed by its own entrance and has private parking. Outside there is a duck pond, Jacuzzi (always hot) and a fire pit. Also there is a private jetty that goes right into the lake.

Inside is completely luxury. Huge comfy bed and sofas. Large fridge which is big enough for some wine and beers if you want to bring your own. Complimentary wine, beer and soft drinks are provided. There is also a Nespresso machine, with coffee cups, wine glasses and champagne flutes already in the room.

The bathroom is huge, with a bath facing a TV, massive shower room that turns into a steam room with two seats. Also his and hers sinks. Soft bathrobes are also provided.

Its hard to put into words how good the room and the setting is. Its right on the lake, in summer you could dive straight into the water. From the Jacuzzi it looks straight up lake Windermere to the mountains in the distance.

We had breakfast and Dinner in the hotel on both days and everything was fantastic. Loads of choice with great service.

Some tips:
Get used to the light controls when you first arrive
The air con unit is in the cupboard above the fridge and sink
The ipad that controls the sonos bar is abit funny unless you are playing the same song in the bathroom and the bedroom.
On the path directly behind the fit pit there is a metal chest - inside is all you will need for starting the fire. If it has been raining the day you arrive and the wood is already in the pit - move that to one side and get dry wood from the chest and start the fire using that.
The best thing about this room is it would be just as amazing in any weather or season!
If anyone is planning on getting engaged then id recommend specifically the boathouse as its very private, but also the hotel has a number of really romantic places that would be great - speak to the staff on reception and they will help!

Thanks to all the staff who made a fuss after we had got engaged, we had an amazing weekend that we wont forget! Worth every penny!

We originally visited Storrs last July to discuss getting married at this wonderful venue. From the initial viewing of the hotel and grounds we knew this was the right place to say our vows. The hotel is beautiful, the grounds and settings are amazing and the staff are excellent.

Originally due to get married in May COVID put a stop to those plans but the hotel were fantastic in communicating with us and allowing us to amend our day to July instead. This was a very stressful time and the hotel made this so much easier for us with how they dealt with the situation.

A side from the Lake District weather which as always is unpredictable our wedding in July was exactly how we wanted it to be. The hotel and staff made me and my family feel so welcome, like home from home. They were so friendly and attentive with every little detail being accounted for allowing us to simply enjoy the day. We were allowed to move freely through the hotel and grounds making everyone feel comfortable throughout the day.

As part of our wedding we had two evening meals both of which were delicious, the food was outstanding and the wine was beautiful too. The waiting staff in the restaurant were superb, with a top quality service throughout our stay.

We spent two nights in the Boat House which is quite possibly the best venue in the whole of the Lake District. Absolutely beautiful private grounds nestled right on the shores of Lake Windermere is simply perfection. To wake up on a morning looking at the beautiful lake was priceless. From the perfectly positioned hot tub to the fire pit this really is a fantastic hide away which I would recommend to anyone. The decoration throughout the boat house is of the very best quality and we loved every minute of our stay here.

This really was the perfect wedding venue and perfect stay for me and my family. I cannot explain how amazing all the staff we encountered in this beautiful venue really were. They had an exceptional talent for being there at exactly the point you needed them but not overcrowding you and allowing you space to unwind.

A 5 star stay and we hope to be back again soon.

Mr and Mrs Moore.

We have just returned from the most wonderful stay at the Storrs Hall Hotel. After a very difficult year we had a thoroughly restful and delightful break from the moment we arrived until we (reluctantly) left! The hotel has a beautiful position directly on to the shores of Windermere and our room (Room 5) had gorgeous views down and across the lake (as it was on a corner). The room was huge and very comfortably furnished in traditional style. The bathroom was also large and sparkling white and modern with an enormous bath and separate shower and two basins plus underfloor heating. We had a huge and very comfortable bed; two televisions (one in the bathroom); a beautiful sofa and armchair; and lots of storage space.
The food at the hotel was splendid (of course more than we could manage) and the service impeccable. The staff were unfailingly helpful and friendly and the views from the dining room down the lake beautiful. The gardens were beautifully kept and the Christmas lights and decorations throughout the hotel and grounds magnificent.
We were there for the Christmas package and no effort or expense had been spared to give us a lovely time. We had mulled wine on arrival; champagne each night; crackers on Christmas day and gift bags on Boxing Day. We also had a beautiful gift outside our room on Christmas morning with two lovely Christmas mugs; chocolates; and a drum of chocolate for making hot chocolate. They had also organized quizzes with prizes and there was a pianist before dinner on Boxing Day. Finally, there was a splendid firework display on the evening of Boxing Day.
What more could one ask for? We have stayed at a great many hotel throughout Europe and never had a better experience. We certainly hope to return.

Almost perfect! Stayed here to celebrate our ten year wedding anniversary. Very peaceful, away from the hubub of Bowness but within a few minutes drive to all the lakeside attractions. A beautiful location on the shores on Windermere with plenty of outdoor seating to appreciate the lake views. Gorgeous gardens too. Clientele are largely older adults, it’s very quiet and upmarket so wouldn’t suit families. Staff were faultless throughout, from checking in to bar staff and waiters, they all made our stay special by giving attentive and personal service. The breakfasts are delicious- very filling, two courses and gorgeous views of the lake from seats in the conservatory. Our room was lake view no.39 which had two large windows overlooking the lake. Comfy bed, spacious and modern en suite with tub and walk in shower. The only downsides are that the room didn’t have air con, and in the summer months it’s really hot at night, especially when the fires are lit in the lounges during the evenings. They could also do with updating the technology in the rooms- we would have appreciated a smart tv and maybe a speaker in the room, as you’d expect in other similar rated hotels. We had a fantastic shooting session at Graithwaite activities and electric boat hire from Windermere Quay. Also recommend low wood water sports for SUP or kayak hire. Thank you Storrs Hall fir a fantastic stay.

Dear Louise P Thank you for taking time out to write the Almost Perfect review.....Storrs Hall almost made it, but not quite.... The kind and generous words are genuinely appreciated, the feedback is tremendous Sadly at 230 years old and with an English Heritage listing, the old girl ain't the easiest to get A/C fitted in to, and in the modern age sometimes it is best to let go of all the modern tech, and simply enjoy what's around you, there is so much on the door step that neither a smart TV or speaker can compare too! Thankfully we attract and welcome a plethora of all ages, sadly it appears during your stay that wasn't the case, the older folk had taken over!!! We wish you a wonderful summer and perhaps and can look forward to welcoming you back to Storrs Hall in the future. Best wishes Andy

Outstanding weekend away in this most beautiful of hotels in the Lake District.
Although we stayed at the tail end of the pandemic the intrusive nature of the necessary sanitisation was minimal and staff maintained absolute professionalism throughout our stay.
We were lucky enough to stay in one of the Lakeside suites which was equipped with outside hot tub, minimalist gas fire, the biggest bed I think I have ever slept in with pure crisp cotton sheets and an en suite bathroom fitted with with wall in shower, full length top of the range bath, TV, twin sinks and everything else required for a proper pampering.
The hotel itself is a beautiful well maintained building with interesting quirks and foibles from the era of the original owners, topped with a bar bought from the Blackpool Tower ballroom when refurbished.
Restaurant Staff and food were excellent served in the dining room overlooking the lake.
Even the cleaning staff, as unobtrusive as they were, maintained that air of friendly professionalism.
Well worth the money as a special treat, could recommend it highly enough

My wife and I stayed at Storrs Hall Hotel for three nights, the lies 2 miles south of Bowness on the shore of Lake Windermere and is situated in 17 acres of private wooded grounds, the hotel is furnished in the manner befits its grandeur. The management and staff applied COVID regulations to the letter in the interest of their guest’s wellbeing. All the staff were friendly and helpful, Our room was excellent, well furnished with a modern bathroom, also the room came with a lake view. The breakfasts and dinners were well prepared although menu was the same one for the 3 nights that we stayed and the bar prices were eye watering. A very enjoyable break.

Just back from a lovely stay in the new lake side suites for my husband's birthday. We had planned a different pre birthday tip elsewhere to the lakes but due to Covid this was cancelled . We are glad it was. We arrived early due to easier traffic 3 hour pre check in as we had booked afternoon tea to enjoy. The apologies the room wasnt ready really were not needed and we were very happy to sit on the hotel terrace with our afternoon tea being pampered by the lovley staff. Any plans we had to move from the hotel were scrubbed when we saw the room. Beautiful conversion of what was I think lodges in the ground. Huge comfy beds, baths with lake view or if you want it built in telly and your own hot tub and terrace with lake views. The room have everything you need to relax from rugs if its cold to electic blinds for the windows. The resturant was great food was very tasty and local but not overly messed with which my husband loved. The creme brulee and BlackBerry souffle were amazing the lamb and pork dishes also. The staff though out made our stay . They were helpful welcoming and even when off duty took an interest in our plans. Nothing was too much trouble. I think Storrs is definitely on the way to becoming known as somewhere to go for a relaxing weekend escape not just for weddings

I am just so in love with Storrs Hall! This is my second stay here and both times I cannot fault a single thing. The rooms are luxurious with robes and slippers to sit in and watch the lake in the window with a cup of tea (definitely recommend the classic lake view rooms, stayed in one of these both trips, no.20 this time with a long window). We ate out both evenings in Windermere but breakfast at Storrs is yummy (bacon pancakes were a fave) and staff are very friendly. Adding to this, so are the other guests! I find this rare at hotels but I love to meet new people. In the bar other guests would be so welcoming to us and the whole trip was lovely and relaxing. Keep doing what you do Storrs!

Hello, we take children of all ages in our family rooms, 12yrs and above we recommend their own room, but we do have interconnecting rooms. We have a children's menu available in the bar for under 8s, even a Tiny Tots Afternoon Tea. Being lakeside activity providers will come directly to the hotel for you, and there are local baby sitting services if required. We hope this helps!
