Terrific location, 5 minute walk to Lake Windermere. near local bars, so many different cultured food restaurants to visit. ideal to travel by boat from Windermere to other lakes. we travelled to Ambleside by boat from Windermere for the day on a return ticket. The Stags Head is a country feeling bar, serves excellent food, the breakfast is terrific, choice...

Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating , rooms nice and clean with all nessessary , bit of a bonus that hotel guest get 10% off at the bar. Only problem I had was the downstairs nightclub which myself and friends didn't know about. Spent the day walking scafell pike and we're very tired and went to bed around 10.30pm. While...

We visited the bar intending to stay for a few drinks. Despite being a fairly quiet evening, the barman never spoke and didn't acknowledge us at all when we asked for drinks. My husband asked about the beers on tap but was met with a grunt and we felt that his attitude was very rude and unhelpful. Tables were not...

Visited with another couple for 1 night and couldn't fault a thing. Had a few drinks in the bar and was a great evening. Room was clean and spacious (we stayed in a suite) and breakfast was tasty and plentiful the following morning. Great value.

Only used the bar, didn't stay in the hotel. We were there quite late on in the evening, around 10pm and it seemed to get a bit rowdy around that time with a lot of drunk people staggering about. We decided to sit outside as we didn't feel comfortable sitting inside. The staff were friendly enough although the man that...

Stayed with Grandchildren aged one and four. Was very apprehensive reading some of the reviews regarding noise. We were in room 16. Didn't hear a single thing. 5 stars for the cleanliness of the room especially the bathroom. The communal corridors feel a little dated. Think it may be all that wood. I found the staff helpful informative and on...

My friend & I booked a room at The Stag's Head as a friend and colleague of ours was getting married at The Belsfield Hotel. We read the reviews & were satisfied that the Stags Head would be comfortable & clean for our one night stay. We checked in & were directed to the closest car park - it's a...

I was having my night out after work with my friends on 24th June when we decided to pop to Stags downstairs. The atmosphere was excellent, as ever, however this time something disturbing happened. I went to the bar downstairs on our arrival and wanted to order couple of drinks for my friends. As I approached the bar a petit, ponytailed black haired barmaid asked my what I was after. I said my order and then other of my friends joined as. I moved about 2 meters towards just to ask what did he want to drink which took me literally couple of seconds. When I turned back to the bar reaction of barmaid was at least shocking. She shouted at me never ever to leave the bar whilst ordering drinks. I tried to explain one more of my mates had just turned up, but then she interrupted me shouting even louder and pointing her finger straight to my face 'No, Listen! You have to stay here! ...etc...'. I've been frequent customer of Stags Heads for the last more than 10 years and nothing like that that had happened to me yet. Last week when we returned to the same bar with my other mate situation wasn't much better. We've been waiting on the bar to be serviced for about 20 minutes (!). People who came much after us were serviced whilst we were completely ignored. At this point big credit for not too tall barman with black short hair and beard. Only he turned up he serviced me instantly. Two other barmen turned out to be complete ignorant even thou I was trying to talk to them several times before the other, nice barman turned up. I'd like to ask a question if that is a usual routine of treating guests unpleasantly for some time? If yes, thank you for letting me know it, so me and my friends will choose other location for our following night out. Thank you.
