Can't fault our stay in this beautiful hotel. The staff at reception, the library bar and restaurant were friendly and chatty.. the room was beautiful and the breakfast was well worth the money ( £10 if booked seperate at reception £15 if added when booking online).. we were able to view most of the castle itself and the cellar where...

We were delighted by our recent stay at Lumley castle. Our bed was three pillows wide, beautifully dressed and most comfortable. We enjoyed the extraordinary mixture of artefacts and unusual decor around the castle. Everywhere we went in the castle there was something of interest, an eclectic mixture of paintings and interesting decorative features . There were alsort of dramatic effects...

Everyone, for just once in their lives, should have a stay in a castle! The setting could not be surpassed: the countryside surrounding Lumley Castle is stunning and for the purpose we selected it - a two day visit to the mind-blowing Beamish Museum - it is perfect! It would also be very good for exploring the city of Durham,...

We went to one of the banquets organised by Lumley Castle with some friends. The location is stunning and the nice weather highlighted how great the venue and golf course look. The dinner was staged with great actors in costumes, reproducing scenes of the old times in a funny and entertaining way. We all enjoyed the food, which was absolutely...

My wife and I stayed for a one night offer, in a courtyard room with breakfast included. We also purchased a evening meal in the Black Knight Restaurant. The food is very good, clean and well presented , the staff are pleasant and helpful. It is a nice touch that the female staff dress in medieval costumes. The courtyard room...

A relaxing afternoon tea in the library lounge. An assortment of sandwiches, very nice fresh scones with cream and jam and an assortment of tiny cakes. We would have preferred more savoury maybe a sausage rolls or midget pie instead Ali the cakes. We took my elderly parent's and they enjoyed the atmosphere, but had to be careful on the...

Stayed one night & sampled the Black Knight restaurant. What a treat ! Delicious steak in a medieval setting- the staff were very attentive & friendly. The room we had was medium sized & clever use of space meant we had a cozy corner bath tub. It really felt like a trip in a time machine without compromising modern standards....
