Just been for a 2 night stay here after reading its good reviews and handy location for Durham city centre. I've rated this with 2 stars instead of 1 as it does have a couple of redeeming features. The staff on a whole are very pleasant, it's free parking and in a handy location. However, the rooms are very unclean...

The building this Travelodge is in is the old Gilesgate Railway Station which makes it a bit different from other Travelodge's The staff were friendly and very helpful a nice bright room with a comfortable bed. Typical Travelodge

We came with another couple for a !ovely mid week break.. The rooms were clean and bright. The receptionist was welcoming and gave us two really nice rooms in the annexe plus free parking. If you are unfit this hotel is half a mile away from Durham and on the way back its uphill! I am not the fittest of...

Hotel has plenty of free parking. In the city a good selection of boutiques. Not great if you're looking for shopping centre. Recommend visiting Gala Cinema and Theatre on Sunday evening. Cinema tickets about £7 per adult. Lovely evening meal at Tia's Mexican restaurant on Claypath. Lively and loud atmosphere. Lunch try Nine Alters, Silver Street, beside the river. A...

We were given a warm welcome and our room was spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable and gave us a good night's sleep. The only downside was the absence of a lift in the annexe, but this inconvenience was far outweighed by the benefits of a reasonably priced stay close to the centre of the city.

When you first think of a Travelodge you might simply consider that it is a cheap 'n cheerful option with few facilities, but when you consider this one in Durham it's perhaps worth looking at it a bit more critically. In my view, this is probably the best value hotel in Durham, particularly if you are driving - and here...

You can have your cup of tea ensuite although there is no dining room as in an ordinary hotel and we usually bought nice sweets in town. But is is clean and tidy, the beds are comfortable and the bathroom is complete. The room was large for three people and the best thing is that it is very near the...

Great position and nice room. Very comfy beds. We were able to walk to town and back. It is uphill as is everything in Durham but there is a bus. Go over footbridge on other side of roundabout and get a bus there and the bus also drops you there coming back. Only hint they could do with is glasses...

This hotel is perfect if you're spending your trip out and about and just sleeping there. It's clean, accessible and the reception staff are really helpful and friendly in what would otherwise be a very 'transactional' experience. It's pretty lousy to charge someone who travelled overnight and extra £10 to check in before 3pm (into what would otherwise be an...
