You can live on the edge at the Premier Inn Hotel Durham East. That's because we're conveniently positioned on the city's outskirts - just seven minutes from the station by taxi, and right on the doorstep for business at the Belmont, Peterlee and Dragonville industrial estates. But tapping into Durham's cultural heart is every bit as easy, whether you're making for its historic Cathedral and Castle, or famous University. Take your pick from the city's countless events, before taking it easy at the Beefeater restaurant and a blissful night in the comfiest of beds.

Just had a lovely 3 day family break over the half term holiday. The hotel was very clean and excellent value for money. Hotel is well placed for Durham and surrounding activities.

Rhona and Rebecca on reception were extremely helpful, friendly and went beyond the call of duty to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. They volunteered to explain that Premier Inn gives guests money off visits to Beamish and gave us a genuinely happy greeting every time we wandered past. When they weren't busy on reception they were busy cleaning the hotel and seemed happy and enthusiastic in their work.

We found the adjoining Beefeater Inn was perfect for a family evening meal and superb value with the Premier Inn meal deal (ask the hotel staff - you can arrange this each day as required. We did not need to book during our stay). Sue and David at the Beefeater were particularly attentive and entertaining.

Overall, we had a very pleasant stay that was good value for money. The only not thing that could have been better was the weather!

Thank you to all the staff for a lovely stay. There is a local bus to Durham centre 10 min walk away or walk into Durham crown 20 mins. No room service but felt safer that way and reception will look after any additional requirements eg extra pillows etc

There is a beefeater next door but so many great places in Durham that are worth visiting.

Great cafe in town centre called treats we had fab breakfast excellent value before 11 and large meals for lunch or coffee and a cake in the afternoon .we would definitely recommend the cheesecake or cream scone.

We haven’t had a bad meal in Durham.

The surrounding countryside, shops or seaside town of Seaham comes with our recommendation for a great day and fab fish and chips.

If the weather lets you down the retail shopping areas are great as is the Odeon cinema luxe of course .... reclining seat luxury for £7.00.

We enjoyed it all.

A very friendly hotel with an excellent Beefeater attached. Free Parking. I have used this Premier Inn on multiple occasions for friends visiting me and the city/surrounding area and it consistently affords value for money, cleanliness, a good nights sleep and all of the basics you need for an enjoyable stay.

We stayed in this Premier Inn, Belmont Industrial Estate from 4th to 7th October 21 and had a very pleasant time. Our room 119, was in a quiet position and fulfilled all our requirements. All the staff members were very pleasant and helpful in making sure that your stay was the best possible. A special mention must go to Georgia on reception who was particularly outstanding in surpassing all our needs and requirements and even helped us to get a taxi to take us to our restaurant (la Spada) when so many taxis that we had tried were all too busy for at least an hour, which would have been too late for our table.
There was ample parking available on site and rather than drive into the city, we took the No20 bus (a 7/8 minute walk to the bus stop and every 12/13 mins) at £1.70 to avoid the hassle of city parking and the volume of local traffic. As the hotel is on the outskirts of the city, it was well located to gain access to the A roads to explore further afield, with a parking space always available when you returned.
We would certainly stay here again on any future visits to Durham.

This was our first overnight stay anywhere since before the lockdown. Our room was very clean and all Covid precautions throughout the hotel were good.
There was no WiFi in our room (no.120) at all and for the first time ever I had a message on my iPad telling me to “move closer and try again”. I asked at reception if there was anything they could do about it and the receptionist just said that our room was too far from reception to get it. She offered to give me the phone number for Virgin (who provide their WiFi) so I could take it up with them! Not quite the answer I was hoping for.

We had booked a meal deal at the Beefeater next to the hotel and the food and staff were brilliant. The only strange thing was that they had run out of table salt, so no salt on our chips in the evening or on our eggs with breakfast - I have never, ever, had that in any restaurant or hotel anywhere in the world!

We use Premier Inn as you know what you are getting. Clean comfy room, adequate bathroom. Free Wifi working well. Staff on Reception very helpful and friendly. My only issue was it was a little chilly in the room and instructions to use the heating were not appropriate to the instrument in our room. I worked out that the electric heater was switched off at the wall fitting next to heater and then managed to track down an on/off switch on the side of the appliance. It was different having a TV controller that was spotless due to the Covid cleaning regime. The onsite restaurant was a Beefeater located next door which was convenient as it was raining hard during our stay. I would use this hotel again if I was in the area.

I stayed for three nights, the room was spotless, the charges gave good value for money but, above all, the staff were very helpful and friendly. They helped me get a taxi and then advised me where to park when I was driving to a wedding reception. my room overlooked a small side road but the double-glazing insulation was good and I wasn't aware of noise from the traffic. Convenient location a few minutes from the motorway. Would certainly recommend

Stayed here one night. After initially being given room keys to the wrong room this was quickly sorted out. The room was comfortable. We got a good nights sleep. There is a phone at reception if you need to book a taxi. (About 10 taxi companies listed). Word of warning though we did struggle to get a taxi prior to 7pm as most taxi’s didn’t operate until after this time. The staff at breakfast the following morning were pleasant and worked hard to serve everyone and replenish items. Would stay again.

Excellent overnight stay here. Room was very clean and lovely new bathroom. Felt safe from coronavirus throughout.
Staff all excellent.
Special thanks to restaurant staff where we had breakfast who were helpful and attentive. The usual self service breakfast was replaced by waiter/waitress service which made breakfast even more enjoyable! Special thanks to Dave in the restaurant for his friendliness and humour. Highly recommended.

Great place to stay. Hotel very pleasant and clean with easy parking and not too far from Durham city itself. Stayed for 2 nights whilst dropping my son off to university.
The Beefeater next door was open and we enjoyed a lovely evening meal and great breakfast the next morning . The special meal deal price of £24.99 per person for dinner and breakfast was excellent value for money..
The staff and service were very good and I would definitely stay here again .

How far is hotel from Durham cricket ground at Chester le Street

Sorry. Failed to see this request until now. Durham East is 14 mins by car on the A1 to the cricket ground. I like Durham East. Parking easier than in the city. No life, and unless you say otherwise, ladies on their own are allocated upstairs rooms for security, which can prove difficult with ladies amounts of luggage! LOL! Hope this helps.

Hi Sarah L Thanks for your query. I believe you're referring to Ramside Hall Hotel, if so this is about 2 miles from the hotel and so would be around a 10 minute drive. Hope this helps. Regards Amy Thacker Premier Inn Team
