The Premier Inn Durham North Hotel is celebrated for its welcoming atmosphere, particularly the enjoyable vibes at the adjacent Brewer’s Fayre and the fresh, clean rooms. While views on value are mixed, with some finding it economical and others commenting on the cost relative to basic amenities, the hotel's prime location is a hit among guests for its easy city access and shopping convenience with little noise. Cleanliness is a standout feature, with many guests commending the immaculate facilities. Room comfort is well-regarded, though lack of space and air conditioning are noted. The hotel's service receives praise for the staff's friendliness, despite occasional inconsistencies.

Our room was very clean and warm. Bedding was spotless and facilities were very good. The hotel was in a great location for access to the city and other amenities. There was plenty of free parking. The hotel Staff were very polite, friendly and helpful.

We have stayed here many times when visiting Durham since moving down south and will always do so. The staff always give that traditional Durham welcome and rates here can be exceptional value if you book ahead..

The hotel has a lot of rooms and it is located next to a Harvester Pub/Restaurant where breakfast is served but Durham is well served by eateries to suit all pockets and the Arnison Centre is nearby with many shops including Marks and Spencer and Sainsburys.

A Park and Ride service is available nearby (ask reception) and this is the best way to go into the City. A regular mini bus service runs from the Station to the Cathedral via the Market Place and this is great for people with mobility issues. Fast trains run from Durham Station to Newcastle and it is possible to get from Durham Station to the Newcastle Centre Shops in 20 minutes.

The hotel is also a great location to visit Beamish Open Air Museum nearby but I would advise booking this attraction online before going there.

Many thanks to Emma and her team who take such good care of guests at this Premier Inn.

Myself and my partner stayed for the night on June 30th. Upon arrival clear covid measures were in place and very easy to follow within the reception area, hand sanitiser also available.
The staff were kind, professional and all wore a face covering.
Our room was on the first floor of the hotel. The room itself was very modern, most importantly with a comfortable bed alongside spare pillows in the room too! A touch I love from premier inn!!
The hotel also had a fan in the room which I used as it was a particularly hot evening, so thanks for that, I had a perfect sleep!
The room has a large flat screen tv with access on points for HDMI/laptop link up.
The bathroom has both a bath and shower with free hair and shower gel supplied.
I found the hotel very clean.
The purpose of our stay was to spend the day and evening in Durham. We parked at the hotel free of charge and used a taxi to and from the hotel in to the city centre (£8.50) each way, which I found cheaper than parking or trying to battle finding a car park in a busy city centre!
Thank you for a lovely stay and we hope to visit again :)

If I was to make comment on any bad points, it would be the amount of cleaning trolleys in the corridors and the bags of dirty linen lined up outside the rooms. I know it’s a busy hotel with quick turn around for the next day… so it’s probably all hands on deck bur it was like an obstacle course. This doesn’t knock any stars off my review mind. Just a small point for the hotel

Facilities at this Premier Inn were excellent as usual and the overall service and value could not be faulted. Staff were extremely courteous and helpful in both the main hotel and in the adjacent Brewers Fayre restaurant where we took our meals. Booking in advance meant that we enjoyed an excellent rate for the rooms over the three nights and we were also took advantage of the special meal offers available in the restaurant before 6pm. A thoroughly enjoyable 3-day break.

We booked this hotel as it was well situated for our needs visiting the area. A one way system, hand gel and signage was in place in the Hotel, the receptionist behind a Perspex screen too. Masks were worn when in public places although a couple of guests were noted to have omitted that requirement (young age range). Checking out was non contact. The room was well cleaned, comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities. I was contacted before arriving to ascertain if we needed any extra pillows, tea/coffee.
The hotel is next to the Arnison centre with a good variety of shops eg. Next, M&S, Sainsbury’s, Asda Living and fast food outlets. Durham City is a short drive away, as is Chester Le Street, it’s easy to get a bus into Durham (bus stops in Arnison Centre or can walk to main road in Pity Me).

We were visiting family to the West of Durham and this hotel is the nearest being a 12 minute drive away. Its location is convenient only if you have a car, there are buses to a stop a few hundred metres away but then you have a walk along unlit roads. Our room was clean but very basic. The bed was good though. There was a tea tray, a TV and a small bath with a decent shower. We asked for a service on the 3 days we were there, mainly because we like dry towels. The first service was fine but on the second service all that was done was the duvets were straightened, the tea tray wasn't replenished, the cups weren't washed up and worst of all the wet towels we had put in the bath were taken out, folded up and put back on our beds. That was disgusting and we reported it to the reception and to the complaints team once we left. The people on reception were very helpful and we got a £50 refund which was fair but staying here wasn't cheap at nearly £90 per night.

From start to finish a very pleasant stay. Reception staff engaging, informative and friendly. All other staff members, including those serving the breakfasts and cleaning rooms, were warm, friendly, helpfuland everything was carried out with a smile. Obviously a close team who take tremendous pride in their work to provide a thoroughly enjoyable and restful stay. The bar/restaurant offers a cosy option for hearty meals for a weary traveller.

We chose this hotel because we've been to Premier Inn before & it was in a good position for visiting Durham City centre, Beamish & had parking. The hotel was just a short walk from a shopping centre from where you are able to catch a bus into Durham. Our main criticism is the temperature of the room, the thermastat consistently said 22 degrees and couldn't be altered we assumed it was broken as there was a freestanding fan in the room. Fortunately the window opened which did help but please Premier Inn fix your air con!! Also due to covid only one pillow was provided which was very firm & uncomfortable. Breakfast was in the Brewers Fayre next door but was served at the table due to covid and the service was very slow, hopefully they will go back to help yourself post covid. We would however stay here again as it is in such a convenient position.

We booked up about a week in advance for two nights, a Saturday at £99 and a Sunday at £44. The room was as standard in one of these hotels so reasonably comfortable but very basic in every way. Everything worked apart from the bathroom extractor fan. We slept ok in very narrow twin beds but my wife complained of a dent in her mattress. We asked for a room service after our first night and the lady at reception asked what I meant and I said clean towels (no heated towel rail) and bins emptied - this is exactly what we got - not even a refresh of the complimentary tea and coffee! When we arrived we were told we could only get breakfast between 7 and 8 on Sunday due to a Santa breakfast event. This wasn't mentioned when we booked and as we didn't wish to get up early we managed with biscuits for breakfast. When leaving we were asked if everything was ok and I mentioned the broken fan but the member of staff didn't ask which room so I don't know if she was going to do anything about it. Also be aware if you come here you do really need a car. There are buses to the retail park which is a 15 minute walk away unless you use the unofficial cut through by Costa Coffee which is not easy to find. All in all I thought this place is expensive for what is such a basic offering.
