Lovely clean hotel. Friendly staff. My room did not have a good view but I was tucked out of the way so got a fantastic sleep. The local area is good for eating out. The hotel is down the promenade so lovely views. Wi fi didn't work but reception staff were up front about this. Not a lot of parking...

Easy check in with a very pleasant receptionist. Small rooms. Hot and pokey and view from the window was overlooking the kitchen extractor fan. Bathroom needs refurbishing. Limited sleep as the room was so hot! Adequate breakfast in a very small breakfast room. It was only half full with diners - had it been full it would have been impossible...

Stayed in August. Hotel appeared full but have no idea why as staying here was not a pleasant experience. No parking and wifi does not work. Breakfast staff were friendly but only plus point. Stay away would be my suggestion.

This was our second time at The Royal, staying in a sea view suite. It was spotlessly clean and the buffet breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice and the bacon was replenished before drying and becoming inedible. The staff were absolutely lovely - nothing was too much trouble. It is a shame about the parking but it is so near...

Stayed with my wife for 2 nights over the August bank holiday. A very tired looking hotel with what at best might be considered adequate furnishings. Thankfully this was only a bed for the night but our room was pokey with cracked bathroom tiles and burn marks on the heater. I asked for a different room but fully booked for...

The Royal Hotel . . . sounds great, doesn’t it??! The pictures on the website look good, the write-up sounds professional and caring and the position of the hotel right across the sandy beach couldn’t be better! Clearly a non-brainer, right?! Well, not entirely! The advertised ‘Free Parking’ is for 4 cars only (and that if nobody outside the hotel...

Stayed here because of a party nearby. Around 6 parking spaces shared with a bar and 5 times as many rooms give you a clue as to why you will end up having to park your car on a meter on some residential street round the corner and get up before 9:00am to put more money in - great! Wifi...

A friend and myself bought a deal on Groupon which was dicounted 45% you got a selection of home cooked scones served with clotted cream and and a selection of jam, selection of sandwiches with a wide range of fillings, finger cakes and savouries and tea or coffee. Quality of the food was really good and staff were pleasant too,...

After an absolutely horrendous experience at the Marlborough (a few doors down from the Royal) I decided to pop in, I started talking to Julie (such a kind woman!) and explained my situation and all the staff were so lovely and kind and I managed to arrange a booking for that night for the rest of the weekend. I am...
