Fabulous time at the Verandah over the holidays! Enjoyed all the special holiday activities - Christmas Movie trivia, Caroling, Pool Foam party - along with daily options for snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, Pickelball and mini-golf. Customer service was top notch - everyone went out of their way to make sure you were having a good time, and if not, to see what they could do to improve your experience. Only complaint was the limited ability to reserve dinner at the restaurants vs going to the buffets - other than that - highly recommended and would go back!

We have just returned from a 10 night stay at the Verandah and had an amazing holiday. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the food is lovely, the resort itself is paradise. The main pool area is beautiful and clean with plenty of sun beds. I have seen from previous reviews that people have commented on not enough towels!! This is probably because people take 2, use them for one day and then take another 2 hence there not always being enough. !! We never had a problem. We had a room with 2 double beds and it was the best nights sleep I've ever had away from home. The pillows were fluffy, beds very comfortable with a good size shower and bathroom. We had a sea view apartment and the views were stunning. Would I recommend the Verandah....100%. We will definitely be returning. Thank you to ALL the staff for a wonderful time..

Arrived at The Verandah the day after it reopened and was very pleasantly surprised with many of the updates. The main pool is lovely (see pic) and the buildings, bars and restaurants refreshed. Buccaneers is now Portofino - and the food is glorious! The buffet is back to serve yourself and nicely upgraded on taste and selection. Having said that, they are scrambling to get all the rooms updated before the big crowds arrived - but our room was ready for us. Only con so far is that as a 10 time repeat visitor - our usual Nicole’s gift certificate was not offered. A small thing but it goes a long way!!

Hotel closed for 3 weeks , no one bother to notify me, until the day I arrived in Antigua. I was taken to the Pineapple beach club nightmare, and was checked in 3 regular outdated rooms, when I had booked 3 water view suites at the Verandah’s. The worse nightmare and the worst admin. It’s sad that in this day and age that a business in the Caribbean that relies on tourism has no regards and no respect for their customers. I wouldn’t recommend it but if you must, make sure you double check that you have a room before you go there. BTW do not use Expedia for booking they are no help. As for Antigua it is a beautiful island worth visiting and the people are very nice and appreciative.

Booked Oceanview but water could be seen only when the palm trees in front swayed. Asked for a waterfront view upgrade and told an additional USD300. Asked to add to my bill but was told cash only. 5* hotel so didn't ask for receipt, my big mistake. Returning home found another debit for USD300 on visa. Queried it and basically, if I didn't have a receipt for cash, we,re done. Trying to get .my refund from visa. This resorts scenic but not 5*. Meals are. Buffet and mediocre( unless you play extra for Nicoles) ,service indifferent. Rooms cleaned every 2 days despite Usd25 resort fee daily. To n from airport by Sunwingwas basic but return was chaos, local taxis, no Sunwing rep in sight. Remember this : DO NOT PAY CASH!!! Or get a receipt . More

Beautiful, relaxing, safe resort and grounds! The food was delicious! All staff were friendly, caring and helpful, especially Sameita from the Activity Team. She was so friendly, welcoming, enthusiastic and fun! The room was the most spacious room we've ever stayed in and had the most storage. We loved having the kitchenette in the room. If you're looking for an intimate, relaxing vacation, we would 100% recommend The Verandah Antigua!

Recently vacationed at The Verandah Resort & Spa.The weather was perfect. The gardens were exquisite & brilliantly placed. Fortunate to take a tour of the nursery/ farm and meet Charles the head gardener. Quite informative. Loved the tour!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Verandah as part of a cricket tour group, even though it isn’t quite yet the 5 star resort it would like to be. We chose a standard villa and were pleased not to have to keep making the steepish climb up from the beach to the pool and restaurant area. It’s all walkable, but circulating golf buggies make life easier, although there aren’t enough of them.
The staff are fantastic, always cheerful and helpful despite the punishing shifts that many of them put in. Poor Tanya, in the coffee shop, closed at 11pm and on many days was back to open up again at 6.30 am, without ever complaining Perhaps there is a plan to staff up as the resort gets busier – I hope so, as they cannot go on relying on the goodwill of insufficient and stressed out staff.
What lets the Verandah down is poor management, with a variety of ‘men in suits’ more concerned with looking important than with actually making things run smoothly. Our check in – despite the easy foreseeability that the members of a tour group woud arrive simultaneously – was a disaster, as insufficient staff tried in vain to grapple with non-existent systems. Breakfast was a permanent queue for a table – not because of customer numbers but because of the sheer volume of tables full of uncollected plates -simply because there was nowhere to stack them. Why has nobody noticed this and bought a couple of trolleys? Why has it not occurred to management that everyone arrives at breakfast from day 2 onwards bearing a cardboard cup from the coffee shop because the stuff served upstairs is tepid and revolting? And why did we have to wait – on two separate evenings – for well over an hour to get our food in the half empty “Sails and Tales” restaurant (which we christened “Track and Trace”). And, when you are waiting in vain for a buggy, it’s not a good look to be passed by the owner, complete with two lapdogs like Mr Bigglesworth, being chauffeured around the site in his personal buggy, smoking a big fat cigar.
I posted about the 'resort surcharge' before we left and and am still unconvinced that this is anything other than profiteering. If they had said "we were hit hard by Covid and so we are temprarily raising our prices to recover", fair enough. But claiming that they need to charge extra for "costly health and safety initiatives" (such as cleaning the rooms less often) is just disingenuous.
Having said all that, it’s a lovely spot with great beaches and we would go back like a shot. And watch out for the fiendish 17th f=green on the mini golf course.

Just got home from a first time visit to Antigua and The Verandah Resort and Spa. This was a first time vacation to an all inclusive resort for both my wife and I. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and can't wait to go back again.
There is much to recommend about this resort but first and foremost were the staff. Everyone we dealt with on the resort were friendly and helpful. I would book this resort for staff alone.
We stayed in a superior water view room. A room is sort of a misnomer since it is truly a small cottage which is set up as a duplex with another "room". The room was large and spacious with a very large balcony overlooking the ocean (go with the 170 series) and the "sports"" beach. The beds and bedding were very comfortable and the shower is huge. (NOTE: The water quality is very very good.) The room had both air conditioning and a ceiling fan.
Resort offers at least two different beaches and three pools from what I saw. Best beach for relaxing was the Rasta beach which has what seems to be a brand new pool. The Sports beach offers water sports which do not come with added costs. Both beaches had bars and offered food.
Food options seemed to be standard resort fare from what I have learned. We ate almost all our meals at the buffet the food was good. (If you are a foodie this may not be the place for you.) The fast food options at the bar and grill and beaches were quite good. The highlight for me was the coffee shop. The espresso was absolutely great if not perfect.
Highlights - the weather (28 degrees (celsius) by day and 24 at night with always a breeze)! - the staff - friendly and helpful - the room - quiet, clean and big private balcony - the Rasta beach - quite with shade and huge number of loungers and a new pool - the coffee - the pools
The only thing I saw which needs improvement is the wifi. It was slow and not great fro streaming. (But lets be honest this is not a deal breaker.)

Verandah resort was amazing how well they took care of their guests. In hind sight this resort is not so walker friendly as it is a very large property with lots of up and downs. However, a shuttle is available (golf cart) to pick up and drop off as needed. Manager named Hunter took it upon himself to look after "Mom" who uses a walker and made sure she was taken to where she wanted to go. Very helpful! Another Manager named Sanjay looked after us when we had occassion to visit the emergency room at the local hospital. We went by ambulance but she came later to assist. She stayed with us the whole time, dealt with billing, and drove us back to the resort (taxis were no longer operating). God bless her, dont know what we would have done without her! - Food was great, buffet had different theme every night. 2 ala carte restaurants very good as well as the pizza place. Did not go to the 3rd restaurant as it was $40 US extra perperson. -Drinks has very generous pours and a wide variety. - Large pool with daily activities, beach activities (no extra cost). - Gift shop for snacks, clothes, souveniers, and incidentals. - Room was very spacious with an extra large shower, really enjoyed the balcony. - Bring an umbrella so you don't get caught in a downpour going to dinner. Gift shop sells them for $10 - And bring ear plugs! The crickets (some say they were frogs) were quite loud once dusk hit. - Not really a party place but fun can still be had at night, more for older people like 50+
Cons - beach towels. Don't discard your used towel until you get a clean one, very hard to get! - fridge not stocked, only 2 small water bottles. Would be nice to get some soft drinks, beer or wine.
