Booked table in the dining room for 2 on Saturday 22nd August. When we arrived (first impressions always count - the three ladies on the bar were ignoring the customers having a good old laugh between themselves) only notice was taken when a member of the public was banging his glass on the counter to get attention. Once attended too... More

We went to try out lunch at the Old Cross which is under new ownership and we couldn't have been more impressed. Nice people, great food (huge portions), the Chili Nachos were super! Nice new decor too, all in all a lovely experience.

We thought it would be easy to find somewhere to stop over night as we wanted a mid travell rest...we were wrong. After a hour of searching for somewhere to stay we went the wrong way and ended up going past the old cross inn, we spotted the vacancy sign. On first appearance it looks a bit tatty and tired... Stayed for 4 nights in June/July whilst playing in the Scottish Mixed Golf. The room was very clean and the food was excellent. The full Scottish breakfast or omelette kept us going all day. The owners and staff are very helpful and friendly. The one downside is the church bells chiming on the hour every hour. Not great but this... More

Stayed here for a couple of nights and had a lovely time. Nice welcome, lovely staff, good food and great service. My bed was very comfortable and suffice to say I struggled to leave it both mornings!! Off street parking was a great bonus for me. Wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend.

We stayed here for two nights while in the area for a wedding. Large room with high ceiling with decorative plaster cornices and a two seater sofa, and a wonderfully comfortable bed. Good sized ensuite with a shower cubicle that was a bit small but ok. All very clean and well serviced. Staff very welcoming and supplied an iron and... More

Stopped at this charming little inn on way home from an excursion, and we were sorry we had not found it earlier on in our holiday! The lady who served us was friendly and very efficient, the menu was extensive and everything we had was beautifully cooked and presented, real homemade fare at reasonable prices. Even the children scoffed their... More

Went into The Old Cross for tea tonight and the place was buzzing..busiest I have seen it in a long time. Despite this the service was excellent. .The new owners make very good hosts and the food was amazing. The home made banoffie pie is to die for!! Would definitely recommend it and we will be back

On arrival we were created by the new owners, who had just received the keys. Friendly helpful and welcoming. Room 2 first floor, lovely big comfy double bed, clean sheets. Tea coffee in room only 1 packet of biscuits for 2 guests. Room clean spacious, could use a dressing table with mirror. En suite taps moved on the sink, half... More

We stopped here for one night on the way to the Highlands. It was easy to find, and welcoming, with a comfortable room and friendly service. We had an excellent meal in the bar area; I understand the dining room is used mainly at weekends. The location is convenient, just off the road to Braemar.
