This place is a secret - nice rooms with modern bathrooms. The restaurant is first class, one of the best meals with had, better than any 1 and 2 star Michelin restaurants we visited. The owners and the chef do an outstanding job.

We first stayed here two years ago, and this return visit was just as good, perhaps better. Dinner was excellent for us all, I love the attention to detail as I don't eat seafood but they go to great lengths to give the full dinner experience to us all. We had a choice of rooms on arrival and I recommend...

We recently took an American friend with the surname ‘MacPherson’ on a mini tour of Scotland so this had to include a visit to the MacPherson museum in Newtonmore. Finding accommodation in this area wasn’t easy so with the help of Best Hotel Guide and Trip Advisor we settled on the Cross Hotel in Kingussie. Whilst the reports were excellent,...

One night stay on the way to Thurso. Very warm welcome and pleasant, very clean room with a view of the stream near the hotel. Very good meal served in the attractive dining room. Excellent food starting with interesting canapés in the lounge area. Breakfast was also good and enhanced by the red squirrel feeding from nuts in a box...

In a lovely location, set in pretty grounds, this hotel is a real gem. The owners have taken great care to offer a relaxing and enjoyable hotel - with many unique touches (game, books, CDs, maps etc) to make a stay enjoyable. The rooms are clean and well appointed and the meals are superb.

I cannot recommend The Cross at Kingussie enough, probably my girlfriend and I's favourite place we've stayed! We received a wonderfully warm welcome and were treated to superb service while we were there. The food is simply exemplary and the dining room is very pleasantly spaced out so you don't have to share conversations with other guests! We had the...

We went for a 2 night stay to celebrate my birthday & absolutely loved it. It's definitely a restaurant with rooms, but the rooms are a good size, with everything you'd need, very clean & the bed was really comfy. The things that make this place special are not only the owners & staff who were always pleasant & helpful,...

lt had been a gloriously sunny highland day but the touch of evening chill made the roaring fire in the restaurant very welcome. The stylishly simple tables are spaciously placed and the person (originally from Hungary) who served us was delightful. We chose to eat off the main menu, rather than go for the 'taster', and before even our first...

We went for dinner to celebrate a birthday. The setting was perfect and the meal itself one of the nicest we've had in a long time. This is a high quality and well run hotel/restaurant. The reception area was homely and pleasant. We had drinks before going into dinner and chose the tasting menu with wine. We were not disappointed....
