Stayed here for 4 nights on a coach trip. The staff are excellent, can’t do enough for you. Patrick our evening waiter was great. They were really organised considering the amount of guests they had (three coaches). Bar prices very reasonable. Food pretty good, the only negative was the vegetable choice lacked imagination. The bedrooms are VERY compact and also en-suite had quite a high step to it so for the less able this could be problematic. I had a sea view but had to stand on tiptoes to see out of the window as it was only small and high up. The position of the hotel is ideal on the promenade. Enjoyed my stay but wouldn’t stay again due to size of room.

Clarence House is in a brilliant location, ideal to access the south beach. Parking is a complete nightmare outside the hotel. For the price you pay to stay at the hotel a permit of some description would be a nice touch, instead I got a £35 parking ticket before I had chance to move my car and then moved my car to the car park up the road for £7 for 24 hours, which is a great price. We stayed in a family room, which was clean and well presented. Hotel bar area was also clean and well presented, apart from the dogs present. We knew we were booking into a dog friendly hotel, being a dog owner, I don’t think this is hygiene and don’t have my dog anywhere near where we sleep!! , The neighbouring room,(221) dog barked every time you opened your door or when it’s owned returned to their room, this was rather annoying. I personally wouldn’t allow my dog to keep barking, let alone, leaving it shut in a room . Specially annoying when the owners return at 12am loudly and the dog is barking again, with the walls being paper thin and everything is able to be heard, isn’t great when I have two young children sleeping! Dog was then barking at 2am. Some sort of fan or machine kicked in around 6am from below, which again wasn’t ideal. I will say I’m not use to noise, as we do live in the rural countryside, but still when you are staying in a quite costly hotel room, you expect a level of respect for other guests and a descent nights sleep. It made the following day a long day and a long drive home a struggle. Breakfast was lovely, kids had endless toast, was a total shame at 8:50am we were told we couldn’t sit in the window to look at the sea whilst having breakfast as it was already set up for lunch!!! Ladies at reception were absolutely lovely upon check out, they gave us a breakfast for free to apologise for the dog noise.

Bad points first - it's seems as though the owners have split some original double bedrooms into 2 rooms so unusual shape and uncomfortable these of course are not the rooms that you see advertised. There is a sheet in bedrooms stating if you don't like room ask to see if there is alternative (they are of course expecting this) what they don't say is it will cost you £60. Two ladies at our dining table both did complain and alternative rooms were given but cost them £60 each. Its annoying to know better rooms are available but you get put in the horrible rooms initially. Canteen (I say canteen not restaurant as more like school canteen) really noisy everyone has to sit at 6.30 so you can imagine how chaotic this is. Not once was I served a hot meal it's all luke warm breakfast and dinner. The good points - good location, reasonable bar prices, staff are really working hard and pleasant under difficult circumstances at meal times

The hotel is situated in a terrific spot… On walking to the hotel it looks bright and welcoming which is what you get to a certain point. When entering the ‘reception’ if you call it that, the guys were friendly and efficient at checking me in. However, their surroundings let them down. The reception room is cluttered and messy with delivery boxes, junk in front of the windows and a coat stand that looks entirely awful. First impressions goes a long way. After given the key to my room I headed up to my single room on the 4th floor. Cosy and small is one word for the room which could do with some modernisation. You have to stand on a chair to look out of the window. Tea, coffee, milk and sugar was plentiful. The cleanliness of the room was second to none, with crisp clean white linen and fresh fluffy towels which were changed daily. The bathroom was cramped but had all that you need, with plenty of hot water most of the time. The bar staff seemed a little miserable and unwelcoming at times. Terrific gardens in the back and especially the front garden over looking the sea with its own little separate bar. Wide variety of choice behind the inside bar which is well needed with the amount of custom they serve each day. I ate out at meal times as I’ve read mixed reviews about the food so can not comment on that. Seemed like they didn’t want to speak to you on departure as I was told to drop my key in the basket once I have departed my room - I did however find this a very strange way to check-out of a hotel. Overall it was a pleasant stay, but quite expensive for just a basic hotel. The whole place needs a refurb and a de-clutter as it seems like it hasn’t had one for years!

The main reason for booking this hotel (for us) is its great location, on the esplanade overlooking the South Beach, and it is dog friendly! Overall we were reasonbly happy with our stay (we were there for 10 nights)
My daughter and I, and our dog, had booked a family room. It overlooked the road at the side of the hotel. The size of the room was not bad (I would say typical for this age of hotel) It was clean, nice clean bedding, the water was hot and the WIFI worked. Due to COVID restriction the maid couldn't come in, but she knocked on the door each day and emptied the waste bin, and gave us new towels, coffee, sugar etc.
There were some irritants: the handles on the windows were broken, making it difficult to open them; there was scaffolding outside the window (which was taken down during our stay); the light above my daughter's bed was broken (there was no string to switch on the light); and there was not enough storage to unpack our suitcases.
For the last 2 days, we had to do a room change (we knew in advance that we would have to do this). The new family room overlooked the garden and was much better, bigger and without the problems described above. If we has stayed in this room for all our stay, I would have scored it at 4 stars.
The corriders are definitely shabby, as is the pub on the ground floor (open to the public until 7pm) We avoided it. The dining room had a canteen feel - seats were pre-allocated to the numerous coach parties We didn't eat in there (luckily I did not pre-book breakfast) and we went into town for breakfast which I can recommend doing.

I have just come back from a 3 night stay at this seafront hotel. Before going there I rang to check our room allocation. I was told my wife and I would be in a 4th floor room with no sea view which was small. I requested a bigger room and was informed I could be moved to a room on the 1st floor which was bigger but would cost an additional £56 for our stay which I agreed. Well, I am not sure how big the room on the 4th floor was but room 112, for 2 adults, was very small. It is safe to say that the Cat Swingers Society would not be holding any conventions here in the near future. The shower was, to be honest, the smallest I have ever encountered in a hotel. It was impossible to move around in there and if you dropped the soap that was it, you could not bend down to pick it up. I also found that I had to reverse out of the cubicle before scrambling around to find my small, coarse feel towel. The furnishings were drab, tired and perfunctory at best. The staff were polite and the place was clean (though the young men urinating at the side of the entrance to the hotel on Friday night at around 11.00pm did not endear themselves to either myself nor my wife who gave them a piece of her mind - this was not the hotel’s fault and it was unfortunate that we had to encounter such an event). Anyway, given my attempt to ensure our room was, roomy, and the additional expense that entailed, I was extremely disappointed with what we were given.

Recently returned from 4 night stay with GB Tours. There were 2 further coach parties staying here, and I would estimate the guest average age c70. I believe the rooms varied greatly from room to room. My review relates to the single room 117.
Pros: Great location on the sea front overlooking south beach. A few minutes walk to the town centre. The staff were excellent. Hotel exceptionally clean. Plenty of hot water, good sized bathroom, & good water pressure in the shower. All meals were waiter service. Standard breakfast offering - cereal, fruit juice, full breakfast, toast etc. Entertainment each evening, whilst of a similar genre, all the singers were good, albeit a little dated. Drink priced very reasonably.
Cons: A little dated & in need of some TLC . My room was exceptionally small - bed, single wardrobe, desk (reminded me of student accommodation). It was located just above the kitchen/ bar area, and there was a very large flue outlet just below the window that came on about 5.30 am every day. couple with a lot of banging in the kitchen. I would recommend bringing earplugs. Shower cubicle very small, as was the bath towel (barely covered my modesty!) The biggest problem was the dining room. They had approx 120 guest staying & we were packed in like sardines. Staff couldn't get between the tables to serve you, so dishes were passed along the table. I'm not sure how we could have evacuated the room in case of an emergency. The food was very traditional & not particularly to my taste, and certainly not home cooked. The noise level in was unbearable.

Stayed two nights at this hotel, the location is ideal walking distance to everything. Dogs welcome and part of South beach is dog friendly during peak season, free wifi, access to front terrace bar and rear beer garden. Both are restricted to residents only after 8pm.
The room was spotless and also the Covid procedures are adhered to, one way entry and exit system.
Check-in is at at 3pm, parking within walking distance is £7 for 24hrs, we moved the car for the second night as it was a Sunday and found a free space on the side of the road.
Do check regarding street parking with the hotel or if you see a traffic warden or even the helpful young team of WelcomeTenby council staff (they wear pink tabards) before you leave your car.
Great stay, highly recommend.

There was certainly no fridge in my room( no space even for a tiny one) and I doubt very much by the standard of that if any of the other rooms would be equipped with fridges
There are more places to choose from in the Tenby area.
