We enjoyed a five night, dinner, bed and breakfast stay in a sea view room in this very comfortable and well appointed hotel which is situated at the mouth of the Dovey Estuary and enjoys superb views over the local golf course and Cardigan Bay. The hotel management had obviously worked hard in preparing a detailed care plan to comply with COVID-19 restrictions. Our room was very comfortable and well appointed; the bathroom appeared to have been very recently up-graded. The housekeeping arrangements were exemplary. A special feature of the hotel is the 5 course evening meal. The standard of service and cuisine cannot be faulted and the breakfast menu is similarly extensive and includes smoked haddock and salmon as alternatives to the excellent full Welsh breakfast. The staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful and we have already made a provisional booking for a return visit next year.

We visited trefeddian hotel last weekend and had a wonderful time.

We stayed in room 401 which had breathtaking views of the coastline, the room was very cosy with beautiful decor and furnished to a high standard.

We spent the afternoon making use of the fantastic leisure facilities before proceeding to watch the England wales game in the main bar area, although the result wasn’t favourable the atmosphere surely made up for it.

After experimenting with the extensive gin menu it was time for dinner which didn’t disappoint.

It was a faultless dinner with the highlight being the main course of monkfish, highly recommended!

It was refreshing throughout our stay to be greeted with such personal and attentive service!

We would highly recommend a visit to trefeddian and look forward to visiting in the summer months and explore more of the idyllic countryside

We stayed for four nights in a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the bay and golf links. Weather was pretty good so we really valued the balcony. It is situated in a beautiful elevated location with great views and is really reasonably priced compared to similar quality hotels and Devon & Cornwall with the added benefit of a largely deserted 6 mile wide sandy beach to walk along. Really nice bar and lounges. Really good menus and standard of food was excellent( both dinner and breakfast), as was the impeccable service. Have already booked a Superior Room on Top Floor with separate seating area & balcony for next year to get maximum benefit of the great views. Really superb break.

Lots of great things to say about this hotel, but some disappointing things too.
The position of this hotel is simply superb . A short walk ( difficult dunes to cross, bad knees beware) and you are on a beach of such delights. Clean pale sand , lots of shells and azure sea. Must be 5 miles long. Dogs allowed and mine loved it. What a pleasure this was.
The hotel itself is somewhat dated I felt, particularly the dining room. Black and silver paisley wallpaper in a seaside hotel!
The room that dogs were permitted in was lovely, with sea birds on the walls. The staff call it the tweet suite!
No real fireplaces but horrid electric pretend ones. Since this hotel was built in 1907 , they must have had fireplaces then, open up a chimney and on a cold wet night , it will be a real bonus.
The food is quite a draw for guests , however I found it ok, a bit pretentious and overblown. They make a fuss about a 5 course dinner but honestly drop the second intermediate course and have free coffee at the end of the meal. I have to mention the coffee, it was truly awful, undrinkable stewed and disgusting. Get a good coffee machine please . Choose your food carefully and the food is not gourmet but it is reasonable and included in the price .
I made a mistake in booking, as an older lady , I should not have chosen a single room. A 2’6” bed is not comfortable anymore, fine for a child but I should have gone for a small double as my sister did. The rooms also are a bit tired but I think they are working on this, and they do need to do a complete bathroom and bedroom upgrade. The sea view is certainly wonderful but the rooms at the rear with a hill view are perfectly adequate if you are trying not to spend too much.
Mostly the staff were lovely, waiting staff were charming and housekeeping staff were also good.
The swimming pool was excellent, warm and spotlessly clean.
I found the front of house staff to be inflexible and awkward. I think they are bound by rules of the house, and these rules are never to be broken. Could I eat my dinner outside on a beautiful evening, absolutely not. I offered to collect my food and take it outside myself, no no no. Never.
Time to move with the times. Mrs CBC

This hotel is in a beautiful position overlooking golf club and beach and is just a short walk into town. Having stayed in 4 star hotels throughout the country I feel that this Hotel doesn't quite make the grade. On arrival my first impression was the amount of 'artifical' flower arrangements.
Our room had a balcony with very comfortable chairs which was lovely as the weather was good and we were able to sit there. The room itself lacked taste. Bedding was not top quality. Fitted wardrobes of poor quality with wardrobe door not closing properly because it was warped! We had a very nice en suite bathroom which was spoilt by the poor quality of the very thin, worn towels. However they were changed daily. The lounge areas in the Hotel were very nice with lots of comfy armchairs. 3 lounges in total with plenty of magazines to read also an on going jigsaw for rainy days. The bar had a good selection of drinks. Free nibbles with drinks were always the same, a small dish of cheese bites. Not much imagination there!
Food was very good, well cooked, huge portions with plenty of variety. 5 courses for evening dinner. However for the price paid it was disappointing that we had to pay extra for coffee after the meal. Management may consider to cut out 1 course and serve coffee instead.
The staff in the Hotel were all very pleasant and hard working.

What a wonderful hotel and in a perfect setting for a relaxing winter break. It is so hard to find places these days that combine first class comfort and excellent service. We were very fortunate to arrive the day after the second of two winter storms, but had we encountered them then the hotel would have provided us with everything we wanted to enjoy our time there. The four lounges are varied, comfortable and spacious and the staff knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. A member of the service staff spotted me taking a cool bag to the car to keep milk cool overnight and directed me to use a small fridge in a service room instead which was so useful.
We did have a few small queries but not only were these quickly resolved but one duty manager, Sally, took the trouble to find us in the lounge later and update us on them. She is a gem, as all the staff are - I am allergic to vinegar and I was asked this on arrival. I was so impressed to see that on the table menu each evening the dishes containing vinegar were clearly marked. Thanks for that.
Our room was warm and cosy and had all the facilities we needed with a superb view across the golf course and the sand dunes towards the beach. Our only regret is we didn't have the time to enjoy the games facilities on site - we were too busy exploring the local area in reasonable weather for January. We used our bus pass to go to Towyn and also walked along the beach to Aberdovey.
Highly recommended

We were staying at a friends cottage in Aberdfyi and decided to treat ourselves to Sunday lunch at this lovely hotel. The three course meal was £27.50 x2 and it was worth every penny! There was a varied menu for all three courses. Our waiter, Michael, was very friendly, polite and attentive.... couldn't fault him. The location of the dining room looks out over the golf course to the sea and we were lucky that the weather was sunny which enhanced the view. The food was excellent, good portions and nicely presented. We couldnt find fault with the whole experience and so are happy to give a 5* rating. Highly recommended.

Having been several times in the past and enjoyed our stay, I took my elderly mother for a few days post bereavement break, to cheer her up.
I had specifically asked for a disabled access room with a sea view, as she is over 90yrs old & struggles to walk.
On arrival we were allocated rooms on the 4th floor & we’re informed the disabled access wetroom was taken. Not a good start - however, we went to the rooms. Room 408 is on the end of the building with a partial sea view & is dark; the shower is extremely tight to get in if immobile!! ; room 403 was also dark & cold (I did mention it to staff on the first day) - thank goodness for blankets found in the wardrobe (but shouldn’t be needed in this standard of hotel) Previously, our rooms have been so much better; we were very disappointed.
For dinner, although the restaurant was only half full, we were placed on a table abutting a wall, rather than a spacious or window. We asked to be moved & boy did we get unpleasant looks from a specific member of staff! At £175 per night, I’d expect rather more. We were made to feel like we were being really awkward.
Our specific waiter was very pleasant & the food was as good as ever. However, we sadly wouldn’t want to go again with dark rooms & narrow windows affording one seat to see the sea. A couple wouldn’t even have been able to sit together overlooking the sea-the entire point of a seaview?!

I really believe that the Trefeddian is one of the very best family seaside hotels in wales possibly the UK but I am unable to give a full 5* review because of our dining room experience.
We found that the waiting staff in the dining room was rather hit & miss; sometimes too attentive and quick with service and other times very slow to the extent that on one morning at breakfast there were four waiting staff on duty and not busy with other tables but none came to attend to our requirements for nearly ten minutes when I managed to flag one down.
Otherwise the hotel is excellent; traditional but not formal or old fashioned. The public areas are very well decorated with lots of excellent art work on display. There is a good indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi, a games room and kids play room and a putting green outside.
We had a first floor room with sea view & balcony which was nicely decorated and well fitted with hanging space, shelves & drawers but unfortunately no safe, fridge of AC which would have helped as it was extremely warm when we were there and even a fan, open doors & windows failed to bring the temperature down below 25degrees for a comfortable night! We would recommend coffee bags on the hospitality tray rather than Nescafe sachets. The maintenance team needs to fix a broken slab on the balcony of room 103!
The bathroom was modern with a bath and shower but space was rather tight for taking a shower and the step out of the bath was very high, a potential hazard for many!
Overall I would recommend this hotel and we will likely return.

My one night stay was very comfortable and finished with a very good full welsh breakfast. However, when I returned home I discovered that I had left a bunch of keys in my room! I phoned the hotel who had already discovered the keys and they very kindly agreed to post them to me. The keys arrived very well packaged to disguise the contents and they sent them recorded delivery. They did not ask for any money for postage! Thank you so much!!
