We were welcomed by the landlady & advised the pub is very dog friendly which was perfect for us. We both had roast beef which was plentiful & divine. The beef was tender, Yorkshire pudding homemade & huge. Veg cooked perfectly served with a rich & very tasty gravy. We've eaten in other places in the area but this so...

We visited with our son, his wife and baby daughter, we hadn't booked in advance but were greeted by the landlady in a very friendly and welcoming manner. We chose from the chalk boards two roast beef dinners and two steak & ale pies for our mains, I had the steak and ale pie which was absolutely delicious, tender beef...

Visited on a Saturday with a 9 other youth worker volunteers and a child who had been on the hill all day. We had booked in advance so a table was available however we were squeezed onto a table suitable for 8 and I therefore was left pushed up in the corner having to straddle the leg of the table,...

Visited today for a family birthday meal on a recommendation from someone who visited back in November. I'd had a look at the menu on their website before the visit and my Dad was really looking forward to the Fillet Steak Wellington. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived so we headed to the bar to order some drinks. The...

We followed the landlady and chef from the Hanging Gate. I watched them develop the Rose and Crown over a long time and was looking forward to eating there. Not suprisingly the food and atmosphere is great. They have good beers on and the food is of a high standard. We've eaten here a few times now and it's always...

After a boozy hen weekend we were looking for somewhere to have sunday lunch. They just managed to squeeze us in as it was very busy for food. We can now see why it was so busy. The food was amazing, freshly cooked and the local meats tasted really good. Just what we all needed. Thank you.

Luda is a great host and Ian is a top chef. The food here is really good - homemade bread delicious soup - no sandwiches or lunch options as such but plenty of starters you can have with chips. Large selection of mains to choose from if you're here for dinner. It's a little out of the way but really...
