A most delightfully run B&B. Very friendly with a wonderful breakfast and fantastic hosts. It was a home from home. The hosts went out of their way to provide all my needs- Highly recommended and will definitely stay again

Directions given by Louella brought us straight to the front door. We stayed here as attending a wedding near by and nothing was too much trouble for Louella and Robin. Extremely generous hosts, even taking us to the wedding and going above and beyond for us as guests. The views and the house were beautiful, as well as the breakfast!...

Robin and Louella are wonderful hosts we were made to feel like it was our home away from home and did everything possible to make our stay fantastic. On arrival we were shown to our room while we settled in Louella made us afternoon tea and cake. They also recommended places we could get our evening meal and offered to...

We stayed at Cabilla Manor for two nights as we had a wedding to attend nearby. We were greeted by Louella and given a very warm welcome. The B&B is a wonderful old farmhouse in a beautiful location. The hosts are lovely people with the most interesting stories. It was so inspiring to see the love and attention that this...

This place really is special. It is the most magical setting: glorious views and pristine ancient woodland to explore. Robin and Louella are exceptional and generous hosts, and one can't fail to be enthralled by Robin's tales. He is a fascinating Gentleman (which are an endangered species), and has lived a truly remarkable life, and done some truly astonishing things....

We stayed 2 nights in November. Robin and Louella are wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. They treat you like family, and it is unlike anywhere we have ever stayed before. They are a really interesting couple, full of great stories of their travels. We bought some of Robin's books, which make for a great read....

You are going to be a valued house-guest, rather than an ordinary customer. Louella and Robin will look after you from before going (with comprehensive directions and tips), to right throughout your stay, As much chatting, or peace and tranquillity, as you desire, in oh-so comfortable a house - unbelievably quiet, as expected with its spectacular location. Gracious hosts, who...

We stayed for a second time at Cabilla, last year on a rare weekend without children and this time with our 7 year old son. Robin and Louella really do welcome you into their home, ensuring you are comfortable whilst giving you the space to be quiet if that is what you seek. Bodmin Moor is a wonderfully magical place...

Robin and Louella Hanbury-Tenison are extraordinary hosts and innkeepers. This was one of the most special stays we have ever had in Cornwall. Gorgeous property, off the beaten path and a a true "English countryside" experience. Highly recommended!

It is some years ago (2007) that we stayed at Cabilla Manor. It was a fascinating experience. Robin was on some exploration trip and Louella had an appointment for the evening, so she showed us around the house, asked us to show the guest in, who was expected in the evening, appologized, that she could not cook for us this...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Cabilla Manor is a spacious Georgian farmhouse on the edge of Bodmin Moor – right in the heart of Poldark country. A working farm surrounded by acres of woods and moorland. Horses from the Camargue in Southern France, and sheep and cattle are farmed. Built on the site of a Domesday manor, the present house is a listed building built in 1780 and 1820. Walks through the woods, across Bodmin Moor and along many footpaths are all close by. The home of the explorer Robin Hanbury-Tenison and his wife Louella, Cabilla Manor is full of interesting artefacts brought back from their travels. Newlyn school pictures, stencilled quilts and decoupage are in every room and a warm welcome is assured. Half an hour’s drive from both north and south coasts, the spectacular Cornish beaches and fishing villages, plus the many famous gardens of Cornwall, including the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the astonishing Eden Project are easily reached. Good local pubs, restaurants and pretty villages are all around and the house is comfortable with wonderful views. Louella is happy to provide dinner occasionally by prior arrangement. £50 per person. Terms Bed and Breakfast £55.00 to £65.00 per person per night. Rooms 2 double with own bathrooms. 1 other double room and a twin bedded room share one bathroom. Open All year except Christmas and New Year. Dinner By arrangement. £50.00 per person.
