stayed for two nights in may. Room was good, plumbing a bit hit and miss but as its an old hotel could live with that everything else was fine. good breakfast too. We had dinner in the restaurant on one night and was a bit disappointed by the limited menu and the food was 'ok' rather than good - so...

Fabulous afternoon tea. The sandwiches were brimming with fresh meat and cheese. Some of the mixed lettuce garnish a little bit tired. Unlimited tea and coffee as well as clotted cream and jam. Nice scones and the Victoria sponge cake very nice :-) which we had boxed up to take home as we were full after the sandwiches and scones....

Stayed for a couple of nights at this lovely hotel. Our room was clean, tidy very comfortable with a sea view (bonus), the en-suite was lovely. Breakfast was wholesome and filling with a good choice of cooked options. Staff were friendly and professional, and we loved Colin the cat! Location was excellent, right by the sea front and also the...

Took my better half to the Royal for afternoon tea, amazing food and service. Well done. I supposed her with a over night stay. The room was expected to be old due to the age of the building. The floor boards squeaked and the rooms floor was lob sided in the bedroom as well as the bathroom. But its over...

I visited with my mum for afternoon and it was by far the best we have had, even better than top end hotels! It really was fabulous. But what really made our experience better, was the lady that worked on the bar and managed the cream teas. I didn't catch her name. She honestly could not have done enough for...

I have just spent 2 days at hotel with my wife and grandson and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is high quality being very professionally run with well trained staff. Princess Diana suite number 219 had a seaview and it was large enough to have a childs cot and still have plenty of room to spare. The Breakfast was...

Bathroom lovely with a huge bath, and the bathroom fittings are lovely. I think the windows have been replaced with double glazing since our last visit ... they are lovely and in keeping with the building... love...

Staff friendly and courteous, hotel nice and central. Good for accessibility - I have MS. Breakfast very good quality - we are vegetarian and they do a good selection and a good cooked vegetarian breakfast option. We were initially concerned that there was a loud neighbouring karaoke bar, the hotel immediately rehoused us to a lovely quiet room.

The Royal is a lovely place to stay. Ideally placed for town centre and seafront. Breakfast is good with a large choice, so something for everyone. Staff are friendly and approachable. There's is a restaurant at the hotel but we ate from the bar menu rather than in the restaurant. There are lots of restaurants nearby which will suit a...
