Stayed overnight with three work colleagues. Good check in, bedroom all fine and the lounge / bar areas were great for relaxing, pre-dinner drinks etc. Food in the restaurant was good - if a little pricey. I had the stir fried beef strips to start and a delicious herb crusted cod loin for main course. Service was discreet yet attentive.... More

We stay in a lot of Mercure hotels, and this is one of the better ones. The staff were friendly and pleasant, and went the extra mile to help us. The hotel was tastefully decorated (couldnt see any of the tatty carpets etc other reviewers have complained about -- maybe it's been recently redecorated?) Very pleasant surroundings. Food also good... More

Currently in my "4 star" room (508). With one small window, one roof spot light. The bathroom is tiny and up a few steps, the roof is flaking, the extractor fan is terrible. The taps and shower are very old. The TV is to the right of the bed slightly blocked by the wardrobe so virtually impossible to watch a... More

We were told that we didn't need to book our dinner on the first night only to turn up just after 8:30 to be told that the restaurant would be closing in half an hour so we didn't have have time to have dinner The room was ok and the bed was lovely but the pillows were rock hard and... More

It looks nice, yes? Well my stay may colour your initial impression. Phone booking price was more expensive than internet price (to be expected). The dogs welcome thing turned out to involve a definite substandard room with an extra £15 per night to pay on top for the dog. The room was in an annex, so in a way a... More

Went here for a wedding. Staff didn't even seem to know or care a wedding was on. Just pointed us to a room and told us to wait, they didn't even tell us where the bar was. We weren't sure we were in the right place. It seems the drinks got more expensive in the evening. Went from £3.5 a... More

On arrival the hotel looks impressive, its set in lovely grounds, just outside Bristol and is close to the village of Winterbourne. On arrival the reception staff were friendly but that's about as good as it got. We had no running cold water in our room, making it impossible to use the bath as the hot water was simply too... Would I recommend this hotel for a wedding....NO....we had our wedding here September this year and wish we'd cancelled and gone somewhere else. The wedding planners withheld information from us and gave false promises. There was not enough staff on the day and the person in charge to ensure everything went smoothly on the day was rude to myself (the... More

I booked what looked like a good hotel following a good look at the rooms on the website. I then called to check they were dog friendly. On arrival I was told that i was in the annex as it was the only place I could take the dog. The room was so tired and had not been properly cleaned... More

Nice ambience, smart place but there was nobody on reception and a queue forming with no sign to tell us that our conference was due to check in at another place. Aldo, the coffee on arrival and later was at best lukewarm
