Very disappointing meal . Three of us ordered prawn cocktail starter ,my husband had the fish cake. The fish cake was tiny, the prawns in the prawn cocktail were so small and tasteless that we wished we hadn’t bothered with a starter. For main course my husband ordered steak ,medium rare.He couldn’t eat it as it was very rare and grisly I ordered gammon. The only edible part of the meal were the peas and they were cold. The egg was hard, the chips very overcooked and looked as if they’d been done ages ago and reheated. The worst part was the gammon. Overcooked and parts of it looked grey. Needless to say I didn’t eat it. The third person had Fish and chips Again way overcooked as if it has been in the fat a few times. Fourth person ordered chicken pie, that was ok,but no gravy to go over the pie and veg so ver dry. My husband asked if there was a new chef and the waitress said ,Yes, this is not good. Would I recommend the Badgers Mount for lunchtime and the answer would be definitely NOT. I would also suggest that the staff are trained properly. Our main course was on the table and we had no cutlery to eat it. They also forgot to bring my husband his peppercorn sauce.

We stayed overnight following a friend's birthday dinner. Our room was pleasantly spacious with a lovely bathroom (shower) and excellent fluffy towels. The bed was enormous and the bedding was top quality. There was a large radiator but, surprisingly, we felt a little chilly at times. With such a large room we felt that a little more lighting would be nice. I was a somewhat surprised to find that, although there was tea/coffe there were no biscuits. Dinner for our party of ten was excellent and served in a very efficient & friendly manner. We didn't stay for breakfast as a late night followed by a 10am checkout would have made it a bit of a rush. I thought the room rate (which didn't include breakfast) was quite expensive but you can't always put a price on convenience.

We spent Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve at the Badgers. Boxing Day was great but New Years Eve - just wow!!!!! Food was out of this world and the staff just can’t do enough to make your experience the best they can. The hotel itself is comfortable and clean - I just can’t wait to go back.

Food was actually excellent, well presented and nicely cooked. The staff were well meaning and pleasant . However when it came to checkout 4 of us in 2 rooms wanted to combine the bills and split them down the middle, but on arrival at reception I discovered that they already been processed without us being present so we could not split the account as planned, could not check it against the bar transfers as the signed dockets were not there just had to trust that account was correct. I assume this is to cut the cost of having someone on reception to process the checkouts. NOT IMPRESSED and after a pleasant stay left a very nasty taste
