Stayed for 3 nights in early March. Our room / ensuite itself in the pub had been refurbished to a good standard and was both warm and very comfortable. There was a good range of coffees etc in our room and lots of nice touches. The bar and restaurant had a good ambience, with wood burners and a wide range...

A 2 night break through Secret Escapes. Newly refurbished room with a giant bed and a drenching hot shower. The landlady takes great care with the breakfasts, which were above the usual B&B standard - with everything freshly cooked and generous portions. The evening menu had plenty of choice and again, was fresh and nicely cooked. Friendly and welcoming team....

The advertisement on the Cheviot Hotel Web Site reads, ' The recently bee refurbished, updated and renovated Cheviot Hotel, where the fantastic high standards are sure to entice guests and visitors from far and wide time and time again.' Having read this and seen the two pictures of the rooms at the Cheviot, on the TripAdvisor booking site, my wife...

Don't want to put a big damper on this 'hotel' but people need to be aware that not all rooms have been updated to the ones you might see on hotel booking sites. The upgrading is continuing and the public areas are looking nice and 'old worlde' but our room was far from that. Spoke to the owner in the...

2 night stay though Secret Escapes, what a bargain !!!! and what a find. Lovely friendly staff, excellent food and the room was just amazing . we had planned on spending the Saturday walking in Kielder but the weather put a stop to that and we ended up driving to the Northumbrian coast and spending time on the beach -...

Nice to be home after a lovely few days away following in the footsteps of Hadrian and his army through the wilds of Northumberland, trying to spot the remains of Hadrian's wall in the landscape as we drove through the amazing rugged countryside dotted with the largest farms that I have seen mostly built out of the stone nicked from...

We have just returned from a one night stay at the Cheviot. We were at a wedding in Otterburn which is only a short drive away. Our room was in the Post house which was lovely. It had recently been refurbished to a high standard! We didn't have an evening meal but the one we saw looked delicious! Our breakfast...

I have to say this was the best value weekend we have had this winter. The quality price balance was fantastic. The quality of the room, the quality of the food (and the quantity, big portions!) the ambiance of the pub and the friendliness of the owners were all 1st class. The attention to detail here is wonderful. If you're...
