The Royal Oak has re-opened under new ownership, and we wish them every success, the Hotel and Restaurant was at one time Egon Ronay listed and deservedly so, then things changed it is difficult to know why, but change they did ultimately leading to its closure, but hearing that it was back open and under new ownership we chose to...

We stayed here to attend a wedding nearby and couldn't of asked for a better hotel. Extremely welcoming and amazing food. We wish the new owner all the best, you can see he has a fantastic vision for the pub and hotel rooms. If you visit ask to see Wilson the beautiful bulldog. He has a lie in on Sundays...

Having walked from Nether Stowey we were looking forward to a warm welcome at this pub with accommodation. The new owner was attentive, friendly and extremely personable. He was equally at ease speaking to me, a perfect stranger, as he was with each local as they arrived. Food from a restricted menu was excellent and accommodation very nice and impeccably...

I booked one night bed and breakfast as a birthday treat for my husband and we arrived not realising the pub had undergone some management changes. We received a very warm welcome and although the new owner wasn't present, the staff were doing their best in difficult circumctances. We had a lovely dinner from a limited hand written menu and...

It was wonderful to walk into the royal oak last night for a drink. We met the lovely new owner Douglas. The atmosphere was buzzy welcoming and everything one might expect from a lovely somerset country pub. We are looking forward to our dinner on Tuesday evening. Please support the Royal Oak it deserves it. Anne and John.

Great location in the middle of a small remote village, good size room with comfortable bed. good food in the evening and a big cooked breakfast in the morning. Would recommend for anyone wanting to get away from the rat race and find peace and quiet.

I booked for my brother, his small dog and I to stay for 1 night on the strength of the review in the 2007 Alastair Sawday book. The website says "we welcome all well behaved pets". I mentioned that we were bringing a dog on the "Special requests" section of the website. Several days later when we arrived at 7.30pm...

Myself and my husband stayed at this pretty, quiet retreat for a 2 night break 14th and 15th May 2014. On arrival we were shown to our room which was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The couple that are `holding the fort` so to speak , until this property is sold, really couldn`t do enough for you. At breakfast time your...

Lovely country pub in tiny rural village. Very good Sunday lunch with good food. We sat outside making the most of the sunshine - lovely outside area but not at it's best (it was early May!). Not easy to find but if you persevere you'll find a warm welcome.

We booked this Inn for an overnight stay and was promised an e-mail receipt, which never arrived. Subsequent phone calls and e-mails went unanswered. In the week prior to our stay we were still unable to confirm booking and after reading that the property was up-for-sale and under administration, we sought an alternative. Imagine my surprise when the bank statement...
