Detailed Reviews
Due to conflicting time scheduled with the airlines traveling from New York to BC we spent 2 nights at the Shearwater Lodge. It was an excellent choice as the people are friendly, accomodations was wonderful and the food was good.

Stayed here for 31 days. Found everyone in the Sheerwater community to be outstanding host from the Marina Store, Restaurant, Hotel, Grocery everyone bent over backwards to help us rest and be ready to work the next day. Cannot say enough good about all of these folks. If your going anywhere near here be sure and stay here.
The restaurant was inundated with our folks but always had something great and hot and catered to our crazy hours and the hundreds of folks we would pile in there.
I only wish I had time to go fishing and enjoy more of the scenery but I shall certainly be back.

I stayed here recently on a work function while working in Bella Bella. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant near by was a good value and the food was the best in In Shearwater!! (Ok ok it was also the only one)
I found the place very quite and very clean. We had a comfortable stay and enjoyed the view from my room.

Perhaps the best service I’ve ever received from staff at a hotel. The First occasion I came to Shearwater was an unplanned stop when the weather stopped us from continuing our flight, they were fully booked. When we explained we had no other option as the whole area had no vacancy, the young lady at the front desk began contacting the guests that had not showed up yet to see if a room would open up until she was successful. The next time we were thinking we had to stay because the airport at Bella Bella had run out of fuel, I called the front desk describing our dilema thinking about reserving a room for the night when the girl at the front desk, Megan who offered to drive fuel up from the marina gas station up to the airport as she was just finishing her shift.
So not just once but twice I’ve been saved by the girls at the Shearwater Resort and I couldn’t be more grateful

We usually stay at some cabins in Bella but they were booked. Stayed at Cedar and it was fantastic. They put in fridges and coffee in most rooms and it's clean as a whistle inside and out. Lobby looks great and the 'vibe' is really good. Wifi is still slow and only one channel. They have a new manager there and she's terrific. Victoria. Very personable and runs a tight ship. She'll leave cookies out for you if you ask her nicely. Comfy beds, clean and quiet and very attentive staff.
The Bar & Grill's breakfast is great and open at 7 is amazing. Good prices. Dinner was disappointing as there just wasn't much seafood given where we were. My buddy had Indian and I had Mexican. Both was just ok. Pizza second night was good. Our server was great each time but the bathrooms need a major upgrade. And a cleaning.
Because of the hospitality of the Cedar I will happily stay again.
I already booked to fish for July and can't wait to see bar and kitchen renovations.see you soon,.victoria

The lodge describes itself as the gateway to the Great Bear Rainforest and, frankly, for most of its guests it's likely to be a convenient lodging at the start or end of a holiday rather than a destination in its own right.
Coming off a wonderful week's boat trip through Canada's Fjiordland this was a welcoming lodge with all the essential amenities and a great view, through the rain, of the waterfront. Our double room was clean but fairly basic: the bed was not comfortable and the blinds were broken. There is free Wi Fi although of a very restricted kind and even downloading e-mails took a while. Our room rate included a free (shared) appetiser at dinner and an Angler's Breakfast at the adjoining Shearwater Bar/Cafe. The food here was better than average but service on both occasions was very slow..

Stayed at the Shearwater Cedar lodge one night after our boat trip and before the flight out of Bella Bella. Windows look out across the driveway and over the water. Rooms were clean with a shared bathroom between two rooms. Great for groups with rooms on both sides of the shared bathroom. Staff was very friendly and hospitable. Shearwater has full fish cleaning, packing and freezing facilities. The local restaurant has good menu and food.

I have been to Shearwater on a few sports fishing excursions over the years. For most of those trips, I stayed aboard the excellent 48' Pacific Lure charter fishing boat. This meant we could stay on the fishing grounds for the duration of the trip (usually 3 days) instead of commuting to/from the lodge every early morning/evening. The boat comes with an experienced professional captain and a cook/guide. This is a first rate fishing experience throughout and the crew will do everything to make the experience exceptional; we had cigars delivered from the lodge one time because someone mentioned in passing that this was a great setting to enjoy one. The fishing (during July-early August) have always been bountiful, returning with no less than 70 lbs of fillet per person after 2-3 days of easy work! The Central Coast of British Columbia is one of the finest places in the world to trawl for wild salmon, jig for (big) halibut, and hook some Lingcod/snappers (in shallower waters). The scenery is stunning and the wild life spotting is amazing as well; if you are lucky you might come across pods of Orca whales or the lone humpback ghosting alongside in the early morning mist or spot the elusive Spirit Bear staring at you from the coast or marvel at the majestic bald eagle perched atop tall Douglas fir. The Pacific Lure is high recommended for the once in a lifetime fishing and nature experience!
I did stay in the lodge for one night during the latest trip (because I had to fly out early next morning). The accommodation was rustic but still comfortable, and the food always hits the spot!
