The resort and marina is in a beautiful location near Bella Bella. We stayed one night before our sailing trip departed. Our room was small with a twin and a double bed and a small bathroom. The sink is outside the bathroom which I like so one person can use toilet or shower and the other can use the sink. Plenty of towels and nice toiletries. The hotel has a decent dining room and bar with a small lounge area. We ate dinner with a group of six people and it took over an hour for our food to come. My salmon dish was delicious. For two people, it took even longer so they got 10% off. There is only one restaurant option in the evening and another for breakfast. Breakfast was a large portion, tasted good and was served quickly. The onsite gift shop is small but has an amazing variety of products on offer, very impressive. There is also a grocery store but we didn't get to visit it.

Very nice helpful staff. The rooms are pretty basic and not great sound insulation between the rooms. We slept fine and enjoyed ourselves at the local pub and a small take out cafe nearby. Wifi doesn’t really work. Having said all that - if we’re back in Bella Bella, we’d stay again.

By far the most adventurous ecotour fishing trip we’ve ever taken. Heli-hiking flightseeing was unbelievable! We had an incredible introduction to the Great Bear Rainforest. The guides are incredibly knowledgable. A long time dream was answered as we saw a Spirit Bear. Beyond amazing we hiked, and climbed around the shore to our perfect chosen spot to picnic and later traverse through this untouched exhilarating sanctuary.

Shearwater Resort also showed us the most amazing fishing experience we’ve have ever had...And yes I caught a Monster 33lb Salmon!

Great tasty food and acommodation was comfortable, clean, well appointed and exceeded our expectations. Our new friends at the hotel and fish guides are wonderful. Interesting clientele to mingle with, likely the top 5% of the world. This ecotour fishing trip was absolutely fantastic. A vacation of a lifetime. We will be back. Well worth the money!

While the hotel staff (front desk) was amazing to deal with, the management was horrible. They pay lip service, but for the 4 weeks I was there for work, the wifi was completely down the entire time. Two of us went to the business office to ask if it was going to get fixed and the GM first tried to say it must be our devices. When I explained that the desk staff was sick and tired of getting hassled about the not-existent wifi, only then did she admit to me that they were having problems with their StarLink. When we asked when it would be fixed, she gave us some BS line about how StarLink is destroying the ozone layer! I knew right then and there that there was no hope. The entire month we were there NO WIFI and little to none LTE service.

You can see an example of people's frustrations below.

The GM said she would get back to us within 24 hours with an update and I'm still waiting long after I've returned home after 4 weeks!

Also, front desk staff working their butts off since there were many days that there were little or NO housekeepers whatsoever. The desk staff was closing the desk and trying to clean rooms themselves.

The place is in quite a state of disrepair and really needs a lot of TLC to improve it.

I think they know they're almost the only game in town, so they know they have you. $250 for a 10'x12' room with a shared bathroom (likely with a stranger on the other side of the door).

Locals party hard and keep you awake all night, this used to be a high end resort but it’s gone really down hill with the new management. The gas station that fills your boat total rips you off , prices have increased and services have down hill.
Our family used to go here every year but won’t even bother now anymore after not being able to get any sleep when the management is keeping all the guest awake while they are drunk around a fire pit until 4am yelling , laughing and carrying on.
Definitely no respect for people waking at first light to go fishing.
I don’t think they want customers!

This place is a total rip off. Disgusting hotel, restaurant is awful. Overpriced gouge town. Boats are unsafe. On top of all this Shearwater also has very shady business practices in relation to the local fisheries, local environment, business operations, and fails to consult properly with the local Heiltsuk Nation whose territory is where the resort lies. Take your money elsewhere, there are plenty of local options that provide way better service and value!

I have travelled the BC coast by water for most of my life and I find the coastal people warm, friendly and inviting. When I visited the Shearwater marina that all changed. The dock boy and his assistant were rude, aggressive, ego-centric and just all around jerks. When I was re-tieing my sail boat after they had done it different than is my customary fashion the dock boy took exception and told me that "if I didn't like the way he tied his knots I could f*** off and go anchor some where else. Needless to say I won't be mooring at their facility again. On the other hand I found the people of Shearwater warm, friendly, helpful, and inviting. Great ice cream and cookie store, and full facility boat lift and repair.

The room is tiny, dirty, TV barely worked, you have to share a bathroom. Overpriced but I guess they figure they are the only game in town (which they are not). The inn keepers were extremely odd and rude. Did I tell you how dirty this place was? It looked like the comforters hadn't been washed and they smelled horrible. I was hoping the food at the restaurant was better. It was overpriced and not very good.

We stopped in Shearwater twice this summer on our boat. Dock accommodations were great, but restaurant and other infrastructure need work. Food both times in the restaurant were barely edible...fish tacos were tired and chewy, salad greens were dirty and unwashed. When I mentioned it to our waitstaff, she was apologetic and comped our salad, to her credit. Returned something at the grocery and rather than credit my account, I was charged again. The place just seems to be a bit slipshod and needs a facelift. But the ice cream cafe is outstanding!
