Beautiful island and resort with extremely friendly staff. It is small, so if you're not there with a boat or to fish, there isn't too much to do besides a couple short hikes. Would be great if there were kayak rentals to explore the area. Also, though there is a spot for camping, they really aren't set up well for... More

This place has a chef who either loves oil or has no idea how to cook past greasy spoon standards. Just because it is the only place to eat does not mean it has to be disgusting food cooked by idiots. I wanted avocado in my salad and was told that "kitchen was out" when directly across the street five... More

We were travelling with another couple and had the 2 bedroom bungalow. The place is very clean and well appointed. We had breakfast and dinner in the lodge, food was always tasty. Caught some big Salmon and a nice cod while fishing in the area. They will fillet and package the fish for you. All staff were very friendly and... More

Shearwater is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Granted, there is a ferry into Bella Bella, 5 nautical miles away. And yes, there is a fishing resort, marine store, boat repair capability, plus a food and liquor store with near city prices. But who would expect a quality restaurant that nonchalantly puts out superior fare at decent prices. I... More

Over four weeks and three visits, we spent a total of 7 nights docked in the marina. It is an excellent location to use as a base for exploring the central coast - Troup Passage/Roscoe Inlet, Ocean Falls, Gunboat Passage, etc. It is busy and you do need to book. The harbour master is service-oriented and goes out of his... More

I have stayed a number of times at the Shearwater Resort and every time I have found the rooms to be clean, comfortable, and the Keith and staff have been very accommodating. I can appreciate the challenges of running a resort/hotel in remote locations, especially during peak seasons, and they do a fine job. The folks on Denny Island are... More

I had been here once before many years ago and I have to say the changes and upgrades to the Hotel and Resort are outstanding. Quaint Privately owned town with several shops including a Marine/Hardwar store, Grocery Store (which also has wine, beer and spirits) Post office and a Sears pickup. The fishermen's Bar and Grill offers a vast array... More

Shearwater is more than a lodge, it's a village with shipyard, marina as well as the fishing operation. Lots to see, places to explore and the staff are like one big family. Don't miss this experience.

My husband & I arrived in shearwater with our dogs to move a yacht. I called ahead, told the manager that I'd like to book a pet friendly room as we have dogs. The hotel website declares that "Pets are free!". When we arrived the hotel manager was visibly upset that we had dogs. His attitude and demeanor let us... More
