Very spacious room, nice beer garden, as well as playground for the kids. Place is quiet, technically it located at the main street of Wanderup, as far as I understand , but taking in account town size and transport flows it not causing any issues at all - at least on weekend when we stayed, and has big parking lot. Also despite this place is popular, again as far as I can judge, for local receptions and festivities like weddings or birthdays, this not affecting quietness, during our stay there was such celebration, but we weren't heard anything in the room, only issue was that restaurant staff was very busy, and asked us to wait a bit for a dinner, but anyway, that wait wasn't too long. It maybe a bit complicated if you more used to modern tech :), as place is using simple keys with heavy keyring and all to get in to the room and for entrance to the building - no key cards or digital codes, but there is own charm to it. Good breakfast, as well as hotel's restaurant itself. Prices in restaurant not overly high and the courses we tried (schnitzels mostly) were tasty and very abundant to say at least. Staff was very helpful and welcoming. Definitely would recommend this place, especially for the cases when you in transit from Germany to some place in Denmark as it located near to the border.

Initial communication not easy if you have no German but if Michael Ringhoff and his wife Doreen are around, and they usually are being a family run hotel, there is no problem with English. On the night of our stay they had a large wedding party in yet Michael had no problem spending time with us and ensuring our very good meal was served with little delay. A delightful hotel, a lovely family, kept beautifully clean and highly recommended.

It was much nicer to stay in Hotel Westerkrug than I had thought. The rooms offer a lot of space, are new and clean, the breakfast is good and the staff it's friendly. Great place to stay overnight during a road trip or if you like the area for vacation.

I booked this hotel based on the photo on the internet and the location in the countryside. I was not disappointed. The Westerkrug is a small hotel forming part of a famous restaurant in the region. It is located on the main avenue of the village, which itself is worth a walk around because of the beautiful homes and the garden like landscaping on the streets. The church cemetery is especially interesting for the many tombstones with Danish names in this part of Germany that once belonged to Denmark. The room was very good value with a lot of space and beautiful light pine furniture. There was an overall feeling of airyness and space. Everything was very new, with special mention of the spick and span bathroom. We stayed only one night and had dinner in the adjoining restaurant where a gourmet dish was very reasonably priced. The owner and chef, who spoke fluent English, came out to take our order and chat with us, despite two large birthday parties going on in nearby rooms. The comfortable night was topped off with a marvelous breakfast the next day, included in the price of the room. I counted five types of bread, all of them dark and healthy. The breakfast had something for everyone--sweet pastries, cheeses, breads, fruit, and even homemade jam. It was all you can eat and well worth the price. I would recommend this hotel to any traveller.

We chose this hotel from the internet because of the photo and the location. We arrived by car and found it easily. The hotel is located on the main street of a small village, which is more like a garden than a community. It is actually an extension of a famous regional restaurant with gourmet cooking. It has been in the same family for several centuries, with the cooks passing their skill from mother to children. The present owner and chef has courses from Switzerland and Scotland. The room was immaculate with all the furniture done in pine. The only problem was the television getting only German channels, but after a while even a non-German speaker can begin to enjoy the quiz and game shows. After a marvelous, gourmet dinner in the restaurant at very reasonable prices the night was comfortable with not a hint of tobacco smoke that so often lingers in these hotels. To top off our stay the breakfast, at 7 euros, but included in our booking, was first rate with every type of food you could imagine, even pork, chicken, and fish. I counted six different types of bread, all dark and healthy of course. All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel. The owner and chef speaks fluent English and loves to talk to the customers. The mother and younger daughter, although not as fluent as the son in English, were both very pleasant and delightful hostesses. I would certainly go back to this hotel and maybe use it as a base to visit the border region, northern Germany, and southern Denmark.
