The hotel was tricky to find, but once there the staff was friendly and helpful. We had booked more than a month in advance, and were lucky to get a room for four. It was actually two rooms with adjoining doors that we just left open; one with a queen-sized bed, the other with two twins (which was great for... More

Having read some previous comments I have to admit that I was worried. We arrived on a very wet windy Monday night after arriving from Ireland - no-one on reception and no bell to ring to attract attention. The receptionist arrived after about 5 mins and we were duly checked in. Whilst our room was warm, the bathroom window had... More

Had a long weekend at the hotel on a family visit to Anglesey. Surprised that there was no easy access to the main entrance and a heavy case had to be humped up a series of Steps. Also no lift meant the case had to be carried up steep stairs to the room. The room was small, but adequate. Unfortunately... More

I spent 3 nights here and on the whole it was a positive experience. Positives:- friendly staff, excellent evening meal on all 3 nights (the Ribeye Steak was of particular note), good sized room and the Honey Porter beer. Negatives:- asked for an early breakfast on one of the mornings but the chef hadn't arrived before I had to leave.... More

Stayed over the weekend. On arrival a bit surprised to find they wanted an extra £9 for a cooked breakfast each. We were told that the continental breakfast was included, so £9 seems a bit steep just for a plate of bacon and eggs! The staff on the Sunday were great which is more than I can say for waiter... We stayed here for a few nights to visit our son at University in Bangor. The room was warm and comfortable and the amenities perfectly good. The staff were very friendly and helped us out wherever they could. Unfortunately, I injured my knee and they couldn't have been more helpful. As I was on crutches, they changed our room and... We did not stay but called in to the Carreg Bran for a late lunch and ordered the light bites Fish and chips and the Chicken and bacon club sandwich. Waited 30 minutes then a cold club sandwich turned up on very stale bread, bacon was rock hard, left most of it, The battered fish was swimming in its own... More

Stayed here on bonfire night just for one night whilst visiting relatives. We booked 4 rooms in total. One room was lovely, the Majestic but one of the other rooms had a weird smell in it and my room in particular was not the cleanest. There were visible cobwebs on the ceiling, dust and bits all around the skirting boards,... More

Visited for one night. Room was freezing cold and draughty. All doors slam loudly. The bed was very uncomfortable with springs felt through the mattress. Very tired dated hotel. Breakfast good but service slow. Finished breakfast before coffee even arrived. Reception desk unmanned , took ages to get attention. Overall basic budget hotel, over priced, and felt unimportant as guests.... More
