we stayed at Rungus Longhouse as part of a tour with Amazing Borneo. Although this was by far the most basic accommodation, it was also one of the most memorable. The simple food was excellent, the toilets and showers were very basic but clean ( a bit like camping), and the dance show that the local youngsters put on for...

The Bavanggazo Rungus longhouse was set in a lovely quiet location and the people very welcoming. The longhouse was very well designed and actually quite comfortable to sit in, even when the heavens opened for a while and the rain fell heavily outside. We were shown the weaving techniques, and bead making and then the whole family group performed a...

Name says it all really. Groups often stay the night as part of a regional tour. Relatively inexpensive and nice to visit and see how native locals would have lived. I combined this with a trip to Tip of Borne and the honey bee farm about 5 minutes away which is well sign posted.

Definitely something. Worth to those who haven't seen a long house before. The place is easy to find, very near to other sight seeing such as the Gong making factory, the Honey Bee Farm and the tip of Borneo.

Stayed at Rungus Longhouse for one night after doing a day's cycling trip from Kudat to the most northern tip of Borneo. A really interesting place to stay for the night unlike anything I have ever stayed in before! The entire house is made of bamboo and sits on stilts. You take your shoes off before doing in. There are...

Made a brief stop over at the model longhouse a short distance from the main road from Kudat towards Kota Marudu. It is made almost totally of wood and bamboo. If must be very cool at night. Bead crafts are offered for sale inside. At RM3, it was worthwhile. Should visit since it is located in the real Rungus village...

This longhouse was one of our most interesting choices of accommodation for our whole trip. We loved that there was basically a mattress on a bamboo floor through which you could see the ground below and a simple mosquito net to cover us because we didn't feel like we were at home which is exactly what we wanted. The people...

As it was part of the whole package in visiting Tip of Borneo in Kudat, we didn't manage to put up for a night or two over at the Rungus Longhouse. While on the way back from Kudat, we had our traditionally cooked local cuisine for lunch here which is surprisingly not only good, but healthy! Now you know why...

We stayed one night and enjoyed it - definitely an experience! Your stay is in a traditional longhouse - very basic facilities as explained by other reviewers - communal shower and toilet facilities and small rooms with two matresses and mosquito nets. One electric light in the room so a torch is a good idea for night trips to the...

Other reviewers have commented on the structure of the longhouse, so I won't repeat it. I enjoyed staying in it for one night, because of the experience and the ability to learn about the Rungus people and their customs. The rooms with the mattresses and mosquito nets were very basic indeed, with lots of natural ventilation, but I expected that....

“The rooms are all the same. They have thin bark walls was occational gaps so don't expect isolation. It all helped to contribute to the longhouse experience.”
