Really charming welcome from Marie-Claude and Dominique, very friendly and attentive. Very friendly stay, with discussions and relevant information (Lucy's little church and its stained glass windows...). Great breakfast...
To recommend without reservations!

We had a very special evening with Mary Claude as we traveled down the Yonne on the Randle. Mary Claude runs a B&B in Lucy Sur Yonne and she agreed to host the two couples traveling down the canal. Mary has worked and lived near the canals for decades including time as a chef on one of the canal boats. She was a good friend of our chef on the Randle which is how the dinner was arranged.
We started the evening in her living room getting to know each other. Mary Claude has very good English and we enjoyed hearing about the different stages of her life. She introduced us to Kir which is not a drink I'd had before and it was very refreshing. We talked about our trip down the Yonne and how much we were enjoying the pace of the canal. Mary spent many years on the canals of France working in the kitchen and could easily relate to the wonderful pace of canal travel.
We moved to the dining room where Mary Claude started us down a long night of wonder food. We started with a melon with prosciutto which was a wonder combination paired with a nice bottle chardonnay. I should let you in on a little secret - the chardonnay they have in this part of France is not the over flavored buttery variety you get in the US. It's crisp and light with a very clean palette. The second course was chicken with a flavorful sauce that melted in our mouths. The meat fell off the bone and the sauce was a perfect complement. Next came the cheese course with four different cheeses. We each found a favorite and we kept tasting the others until they were all gone. We spent the next few days looking for each of these cheeses and it added to our trip as we went thru each market looking for the one we loved. The dessert course was a poached pear in a red wine sauce topped with ice cream. This was another wonderful combination of flavors we we battled to finish our pear down to the stem. The red wine Mary Claude choose to finish the dinner was a perfect complement.
Throughout the dinner Mary Claude kept the conversation flowing as she talked about her life in France and we discussed our trip and our families. It was a very relaxed and enjoyable night and one we will remember for many years.
When we get back to France we hope to stop by and stay with Mary Claude for more than just one evening. We would recommend her B&B and I suspect any meal she makes will be very special.

Marie-Claud receives you like being a member of her family. We stayed at her dreamy, beautyful house during our bicycle trip along the Canal de Nivernais. As we were only two to have dinner, without further ado she invited some of her friends and we enjoyed a perfect homecooked meal with witty talks. Sleeping in the cosy room Lucy, we nearly forgot to get up in the morning. Thank you Marie-Claude.

Response from Marie-Claude R, Propriétaire at Le Clos De Lucy

Thank you, yes, we had a very nice moment together, Time to speak with my cosmopolitans friends : half in english, french or german but enough to have a long evening. That's the reason, may be, you stay longer in bed in the morning. I hope you had nice weather and a lot of lovely evenings with also a very good condition to follow your trip on bike, crossing the Burgundy (in despite of the rebel knew of your wife). Many thanks to choose my home.
