This hotel was a great find. It was a place to unwind and experience a different side of life on the Island. Christophe, the owner and his team were proper hosts. This was a hotel that was passionate about service and proud of their community. They were always happy to share their local knowledge and offer recommendations. It is the pefect base for exploring the mountains, but Ajaccio is only a 45 minutes drive away and the hotel is in easy access of some magical beaches if you want a day at the coast. It is a small hotel, mixing cool design with Corsican warmth. The contemporary bedrooms were all about the panoramic view. The beds and bath face the windows and overlook the valley. We were staying for a week and chose one of the larger rooms, which we felt was a good decision to give us some extra space. The bath/shower were part of the bedroom. The hotel was spotless and had great wifi. The buffet breakfast on the terrace was peaceful and a chance to enjoy the scenery in the morning sun. After long days exploring the Island we really enjoyed coming back to the cosy restaurant for dinner. The food was delicious and unpretentious. The ingredients were fresh and locally sourced. The chef told us how much he loved his work and it was obvious. The wine list was diverse and like the food, reasonably priced. We felt at home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and definitely will come back. Perpaps we might return in winter for a another type of experience. …
Artemisia is a well maintained, very clean and has a very service minded team which starts with the owner himself. The large room is spacious with a large balcony with view on the mountains. Breakfast, diners and lunch packages for hikes were all good to very good. Excellent advice was received from the owner regarding hikes in the area. All in all, a very good hotel in a beautiful area.
We've been going to Corsica for decades but principally in the North. So, when we wanted a small vacation within our vacation, we asked a very connected friend for advice on where to stay in the South of the island and he suggested Artemisia without hesitation. It is also without hesitation that we now recommend it for its fun, eclectic decor, solid food, convivial owner and staff, and-perhaps above all-its secluded perch in the mountains of Bastelica but near wonderful sites on this equally wonderfully beautiful island. Artemisia is a gem of low key yet professional hospitality and worth a visit.
Lovely hotel with friendly, attentive staff. We received a fabulous welcome and great advice about local landmarks, restaurants, facilities etc during our stay. The room was clean and well-appointed, with lovely breakfasts provided using local products. Bastelica is a beautiful, small mountain village and I would strongly recommend both the village and Hotel Artemisa to anyone who wants to see more of Corsica. Thank you to all the team for making our stay so special!
We loved the peace and quiet of this boutique hotel. Our lovely room looked out on to the picturesque town and the mountains. The host family and all the staff deliver exceptional hospitality - we dined in both nights as the food and wine were so good. The walk we did up to the waterfall and canals on the mountainside was a highlight through ancient trees and wild foraging pigs. Highly recommended.
