Came to the Amandari not to stay but to have a look and see how it looked. We had stayed before but had not visited Bali for many years. We had many happy memories which we were revisiting. We had been turned away from some other resort where we wanted to go for drinks being told that the restaurant was...

I had the opportuntity to work in the kitchen of Amandar in 1993. I recently went back with my family and in laws for the first time. It was a very emotional reunion. I had only dreamt of being a customer of Amandari at the time. What is telling about Amandari is that half of the people that worked there...

We took a risk of going to Amandari in December during off season, and, in fact, it was often cloudy with occasional rain (not sure how it compares with any other month). The hotel was booked far from capacity, and we recognized every guest from afar when we happened to see one, very rarely. The General Manager was present throughout...

Form the moment that we arrived until the moment that we left wiht tears in our eyes this hotel was exceptional. We were upgraded to a fabulous suite. It was impossible to leave the hotel. We ventured out a few times but were always in a hurry to return. The hike through the rice paddies was stunning and the guide...

But it places extra demands when you are a part of the Aman chain that offers wonderful hotels in many places in the world. Amandari is designed in the style of a traditional Balinese village.Tastefully, but shows that there is room for maintenance and development. Amandari offers single-storey bungalows or duplex, some Suites offer views of the valley and rice...

Best cookies in the Aman group! Rooms are amazing and we got upgraded to a room with a great view of the rice fields. We had a hike with our guide Fo and like everyone in the Aman group, he was very well versed on history and culture of Ubud. Food is lovely and very reasonable for a hotel this...

I am giving this only 3 stars to highlight the growing problem of noise pollution. The resort itself is certainly 5 star We had a villa with pool and were forced to move to the other side of the resort to escape the constant sound of traffic. We live in London so we want peace and quiet. We were warned...

It's the little touches that really elevate a great place to one of the best in the world. Yes, Amandari features amazing views of the valley, and its villas are secluded and spectacular. The grounds are laid out in what I'll call a simple, Balinese Feng Shui style, and service was impeccable. The special touches: airport shuttle service both ways,...

Stayed here for 3 nights before moving to Amankila, which both my husband and I preferred. Gorgeous resort with great service, but the rooms are a little run down and have gaps that let bugs/lizards/frogs in quite often (also two cockroaches). Staff were very good though so nearly made up for it, as did the beautiful pool and the lovely...

If you’re staying at the Amandari, you’ve probably been to fantastic resorts already. But this one is different: it’s as if you’re staying at the luxurious compound of a friend who isn’t home, but left his huge staff to take care of you. It’s hard to pick the best feature of the Amandari: the property has an authentic historic feel...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Amandari (meaning peaceful spirits) is located in the village of Kedewatan, on the fringe of Bali's cultural capital, Ubud. Perched on an escarpment high above the winding Ayung River gorge, this resort follows the design of a traditional Balinese village. Pebbled walkways link the thatched-roof suites, each of which has its own walled garden. Amandari provides a unique setting from which to experience the cultural richness of Bali's artistic centre as well as its mountainous region to the north. ... more   less
