My partner and I spent 3 days at Christmas at Amandari and could not have had a more wonderful and relaxing time.

The Aman group has always set some of the highest standards in world class resorts, the Amandari wears that badge in beautiful tropical splendor.
Upon entering the villa, you smell a wonderfully woody scent that comes from the thatching that they use in the roof....More
The property is situated in an incredible location overlooking the lush Ayung River Valley. Our visit happened to coincide with the eruption of Mt Agung which closed the DPS airport. As the other reviews note, the service here is incredible - but it really made...More

We dined rather than lunched. The menu is not extensive but choice, the best of local produce with a twist like smoked duck. It was sophisticated balineses food, using their own fresh produce from a vegetable garden on site. The dining room has understated elegance with a view over the main pool and frangipannis and coconut palms beyond. If you book ahead they will set up a private table on the bale which would have a more spectacular view into the valley.
I can also recommend the Sawah Terrace at the Mandapa by Ritz Carlton. Perhaps a more diverse menu, very sophisticated with choice of Asian and western dishes (can recommend the squid ink noodles with prawns and the slow cooked duck) and ravishing views over the hotel grounds, the Ayung River and the jungle beyond. Tell them you want a terrace edge table when you book to get the best views.
Regards and happy dining in Ubud.
