We came here for the one night exhausted. Before moving onward to hotel on islands The hotel looked and feels clean our room tho basic , But had good sized flat screen tv with lots of channels also had a king bed which is more what we call a superking size and feels firm when you sit on it but we both slept excellently. And bed was excellent, Pillows are comfy and linens clean. Mattress feels quite new to be fair. Hotel was quiet for a while but later guests next door with kids woke us for a while When coming in I have read loads of reviews about low water pressure when showing in and around male hotels but ours was great. The main rain head was not good but the large handheld shower set was great and got us clean super quick. Did not get woken by any call to prayer so maybe this area is more quiet than main male. The manager skylass ( no idea how to spell his name) was super helpful and could not be more so. Even walked us across the street to show us somewhere reasonably decent to eat. He booked our taxi back to airport also The breakfast is a bit of a climb on 4th flor and i decided it did not look very appetising, so also declined any cooked eggs altho thats just me being fussy Coffee was good tho Al in all to be really fair we have stayed in much more high end hotels and had worse experiences Most people just want a decent comfy bed and a quiet nights sleep when staying in a place for a night and this hotel gave us that in spades If we come again to maldives i would happily stay here again for a night Tip when traveling i always take silicon ear plugs with me which really help with background noise like birds or noisy guests but mainly my better half snoring Extra tip Be VERY WARY of taxis at airport as our first driver was without doubt the most dangerous and worst driver i have ever been in car with Also the cars are in such a poor state of repair they would be scrapped in a modern country. Your family are going in this so if the car is covered in dents and damaged bodywork AVOID THEM. …
We had a night here as our flight arrived at 11pm. We booked the transfer with the hotel for $5 pp which was very convenient. We could pay the fee on our credit card at check out. We had a lovely room on the first floor. It was very comfortable. With great bed and pillows. The bathroom was also very nice. Everything was spotless. The rates here are very good. Only realised the next day on the way to the outer island boat transfer that this hotel is only a block from the beach. It was noisey at night with cars and motorbikes. I suggest bring earplugs. Lovely staff. Very friendly. Can highly recommend for a good mid range property.
The Maakanaa Lodge made me feel welcome and cared for after I landed in the Maldives. It is managed by a family who lives on site, which makes it highly attentive and personal. It makes a perfect transitional accommodation for those just arriving and awaiting transfer to an island OR it could be a home base to explore several islands. I would go back to the Maakanaa Lodge in a heartbeat!
We stayed here for a night before going to the resort. We were picked up from the airport and driven to the lodge. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the owners even though it was late at night. There was no elevator but the staff helped us with our luggage. The room we had was spacious, clean and cosy. We did not have any problem with noise and had a good night sleep. We would definitely stay here again if we go back to the Maldives.
I stayed here five nights on a business trip. The place is great and I thoroughly recommend it. I was greeted warmly with a cold towel and a glass of fresh juice, even though it was late at night. The room is spacious (so I had room for my luggage), has a large desk (where I was able to work), a large closet (with plenty of hangers), and a large bathroom (where I was able to open my bag of toiletries. The bed was large and comfortable. There is a/c and a fan. The internet worked very well throughout my stay. One nice feature is a dimmable light controlled by a know right next to the bed. The beach is 50 m away, but the water at that point is quite shallow. I didn’t have time during my stay to find deeper water. There are many restaurants around so getting breakfast or dinner is not a problem. Although I heard the call to prayer each morning at 04:50, I can’t imagine the sound would wake anyone. The owner is a very pleasant gentleman and we spoke several mornings while I waited for my ride. He had told me on my arrival that there was local construction and the noise might disturb me. However, the room was always quiet and I was never disturbed by any noise either within or without the hotel. There are two minor points that someone might consider. There is no lift (elevator), and the stairs are quite narrow. The hotel staff took my luggage up and down, so the stairs presented no problem for me. The other issue is that there is no fan in the bathroom; instead, there is a window that is always open. As such, the bathroom was always warm (which I liked) but it meant that smells and steam took some time to dissipate.…
