Urban Valley Resort & Spa is celebrated for its excellent value, with guests appreciating the reasonable pricing on various services. Nestled in a tranquil area by natural attractions and well-connected by public transport, the hotel's location is a highlight for many. The staff's friendliness and efficiency, particularly the complimentary shuttle and welcoming reception, consistently earn praise. While the rooms are recognized for their spaciousness and cleanliness, some guests feel the amenities could be enhanced, and the food quality has room for improvement. The resort's atmosphere, characterized by a modern vibe with lush greenery and soothing music, alongside a variety of amenities like pools and spa services, makes it a well-regarded destination.

Location very quite. Room was perfect. Soft pillows and mattress. Warm and quiet area of room with balcony. Huge bathroom with bathtube and shower also. Bathrobes were soft. Towels okay, they could have a fresh aroma. Huge wardrobe, 2 armchairs and coffee table. Big dressing table and mirrors. Led TV with many channel options.
Check in was fast and easy, the receptionist Rosella was awesome and informative!! Room was ready earlier than 15:00.
At the bar we met barman Georgie - George from Serbia that was so kind and friendly to us. Even he made my husband's favorite coffee.
Food was tasty at bar. Breakfast was very good, many many options for English breakfast etc and cappuccino tasted nice.
Manager on breakfast hosting, really familiar with customers and smily every day!!!
Pet friendly, smoking area available out of lobby, very big pools.

Room Service very slow and late to get the order.
The reception gave the order to them, but after 40 minutes they called us from room service, to ask what we need to order. And then it took an other 25 minutes to receive a cappuccino and a water.
We arrived on Sunday and we wanted to go for Sunday buffet but they refused us because it was already fully booked, so we only had choice for sandwiches and pasta.
In the room, we didn't have slippers (I asked on the Facebook page if they do provide slippers and they replied that yes, but finally we did not have). No vanity set is provided also. The light on balcony was not working, they promised to fix it next day, but still nothing.
On Sunday, we tried to rest and sleep around afternoon 16:00, but unfortunately the maid was cleaning the nearest room and it was everything really noisy, Even her mobile was ringing on Messenger and we could hear her so loudly. Because of my experience with Housekeeping, maid should have the volume of mobile lower, even not using during cleaning service.
Also on the service of Monday morning, the maid didn't put hand towels, extra toilet paper and nothing like shampoo or shower gel. The reception sent someone to bring us in the night who was very friendly and helpful.
My husband tried to arrange something for my birthday, and they said that they would bring for him something in the room, that he didn't find. After calling at the reception, they said that they sent already something to us, but maybe they confused the room. The surprise from my husband was destroyed, but finally they have sent drinks and piece of cake later complimentary.
The coffee service at breakfast very slow that we finished eating, waiting for a cup of coffee.

It was my first visit at Malta and I must be honest, Urban Valley Resort & Spa**** exceeded far my expectations and ranks for me among the best hotels, for not saying “the best hotel in its category" I visited till today. In their “Welcome letter” they hope you have an “enjoyable and memorable stay”, it is an understatement. From my arrival till my leaving (one week later) I enjoyed every minute of my stay. The excellent breakfast ( cold and warm buffet) is the perfect start of the day ( or maybe the hot swim at the spa, followed by the breakfast ?). Being welcomed by a super friendly and motivated staff, under the approve of the “all-seeing eye” of Mister Zvonko a great “day at Malta” can start. Even the breakfast can be crowdy sometimes, the buffet is perfectly filled up and the tables are cleaned and available for new guests in no time. Coffee and tea are served at the table what is giving the staff the opportunity of a personal approach of the guest. The staff is doing everything possible to turn every minute of your holiday in to a unforgettable experience. A free bus service is organised by the Hotel Urban Valley Resort & Spa**** but when you get familiar with the location of the hotel, a bus stop is just round the corner and the centrum of San Gwann is (with a super high bus frequency to Valetta) in walking distance. When you stay for a week like I did, a “Tallinja Card” ( 21 € ) is highly recommended as it gives unlimited access to the public bus transport of Malta.

We stumbled on a very good deal for one night b&b and we decided to have a go at this lovely resort. What a treat this was.

We arrived on Sunday and the pool area was rather busy with day by the pool as expected. At 6 pm everything went quite with an ambient chill-out music in the background and super choice of cocktails that are so worth the price.

After a couple of drink we went to get some food at the tri bistro, right by the pools edge, and what a surprise this was. Literally, finger licking good! Would recommend to any foodie out there to try! The flat bread starts that it’s not the normal pizza and my my, they couldn’t be more right! I must also mention how friendly And helpful the staff here is.

Post-covid, breakfast is a la carte. Menu had a vast selection and we went for the breakfast bun and it came with some crispy potato hash browns. The bun was also branded with the resorts initial. Little attention to detail that makes it so worth waking up for.

Rooms and common areas are very clean and make you feel comfortable as if you are home. Contemporary well decorated and Big rooms with big bathrooms, will defiantly not make you feel like you are trapped in a small city apartment.

Thank you for a wonderful stay, it has been a pleasure and will most certainly visit again.

We booked here based on it offering Half Board and Apartment style rooms.
Firstly this hotel is in a quiet location surrounding residential streets the local harbour Gzira is a 10 minute walk and Silema 20 minutes away where you can get the ferry to Valletta.

Our overall stay has been disappointing, these are the reasons why;

Spa;
We had 3 treatments, 2 massages and a manicure. These were great and cheap based on hotel prices.
The spa itself is nice, but the jacuzzi is not hot, it's the same temperature as the pool.

Reception;
No one seems to know what they are doing. We asked to book tennis and Archary and they didn't know how to book it.

Room;
When we entered the overall cleanliness of the room was poor, sides had marks on, fridge / drains stunk and the bathroom was mouldy and damp. We kept the door open all the time we were inside.
There were ants on the floor and the floor itself was disgusting (see photos).
The shower dripped for the first 3 days until maintance came to fix it.
We had to go to Lidl to buy our own cleaning products and didn't allow house keeping to clean the room as we had seen the disgusting cloths they were using.

Food;
We booked on half board on the basis it was a la carte menu, when we got there it was a buffet style (costing €25, if not half board) the variety didn't change, same salad, pasta and meat / veg of different variety. There were no Desserts and only salad as a vegatarian option, we spoke to reception on day 3 and the chef agreed to make something each day for me. There was no personalisation with the waitors they didn't interact with you apart from asking if you want a drink. Each night we were done within 30 minutes and didn't find the experience very nice as we felt rushed.

Outdoor Pool;
They looked nice however we didn't use them as they consistently had leaves/ dirt in them. We only seen 2 people use them in the whole week. There wasn't anyone cleaning the pools.

Overall we wouldn't recommend staying here, it's far from luxury.

The worst part of our stay was our arrival late on Saturday night. We'd upgraded to a Valley View Executive Room only to be told that we had been allocated a ground floor room next to the pool. The receptionist told us that there were no other rooms available even though it was clear on our holiday voucher that we had booked an upgrade. I stood my ground and eventually the receptionist 'found' us another room on the 2nd floor overlooking the valley. Not a good start. Breakfasts were good, although guests can't help themselves and have to be served which meant waiting at times. The evening menu didn't change at all and there is nothing much to do at the hotel in the evenings - taxis are needed to get to other restaurants and bars in St Julian's. There were one of two private functions in the evening and guests were required t o stay away from the poolside, but one evening the music played until 10am which must have been awful for the guests with rooms close to the pool. The hotel also allows people to buy day passes to the pool area although we always found a lounger. The room was clean and roomy with a huge bathroom - I found the bed/mattress really uncomfortable but used one of the spare duvets as a mattress topper which helped. We made good use of the hotel's courtesy shuttle to Valetta which helped on taxi fares. All in all it was OK, but not somewhere we would want to return to,

Booked via hotels.com and for even the price we paid tripled the whole stay would still be outstanding! From the warm welcome and throughout our 3 nights stay. We had 2x corner suite rooms which were spacious and immaculate (balcony’s did look out into residential area but we did not use so not a problem for us)
Breakfast buffet was loaded with choice and staff were friendly.
Bar prices were very reasonable and linger decor was modern - only negative would be it’s too bright in here on an evening so would benefit from softer lighting for a more relaxed ambience.
Lovely and clean outside areas - we were lucky with weather but still too cold for a dip in either outdoor pools but we did make use of indoor pool and spa facilities all 5 of us enjoying very priced treatments.
Walking distance to Sliema - recommend catching ferry at least one way to Valletta what a view! Took advantage of both complimentary and paid shuttle services to Sliema & Valletta from hotel. Bus stop to Valletta just down from roundabout (not the 1st one you come too which we mistakenly got on at) will take you into beautiful Valletta every 1/2hr for 1.5euro!
Overall we really enjoyed our time in both the hotel and sightseeing and nightlife in Valletta.

If you want to spend a day by the pool with loud children all around and people (hamalli) who play their own music loudly on bluetooth speakers although there is music playing from the hotel's own speakers ... you're absolutely right in this place.

If you're looking for a relaxing day by the pool, better choose hotels that don't offer anything below €50/person/day. Such packages will include more services such as towels, drinks and food - and a peaceful environment.

Dear riothehungrycat, Thank you for taking the time to review our resort. We are very disappointed to read that what was expected to be a relaxing day for you turned out to be otherwise. It is unfortunate that you encountered such an experience during your time with us, which we would like to extend our apologies for. We have noted your feedback and will certainly look into this with the respective departments. One of the actions which was immediately taken onboard was the division of the outdoor pools, one for family use and a separate pool for adults only. We trust that this measure will provide a further serene environment due to the classification of these two areas. It would be my pleasure to assist you further on this regard and offer an amicable resolution to the above. Please do not hesitate to contact me personally on events@urbanvalleyresort.com Yours Hospitably, Sarah Marie Grech Sales & Events Manager

We stayed at this hotel last week. The hotel and pool is very nice, modern and clean. Staff friendly in restaurant and pool area. The reception staff that were on duty while we were there, could do with more customer care training. Checking in and out process was slow. Also when we had any queries the wait at reception was very long.
On arrival our room was not ready even though it was past check in time. We were told it would be 5 minutes that turned in to about 1/2 hour , we were just left standing around with our cases. We booked two single beds and sofa bed. The bedroom was made up as a double. Had to contact reception for beds to be changed, which took a while to complete. Information said complimentary water provided, two small bottles for party of three people. Eventually after we got all this sorted we asked at reception where a local shop was for getting the basics we required, plus water for the room. We were given directions on our mobile phone which we followed, ended up on a nature reserve and then a motorway, no shop so returned back to our room.
Would not recommend staying here, unless you hire a car as the walk to nearest supermarket is not easy, especially for the elderly or with children. There is no supermarket on site. Shuttle bus was only very limited service and we had a long wait, the only time we used it.
Breakfast was terrible, but had to try and eat something as nowhere else nearby to purchase food. Beans were cold, bacon very fatty and under cooked, sausages tasted strange, fried eggs the whites were under cooked. Yogurts were in big bowls uncovered. The pots of coffee were often lukewarm and did not taste nice, no choice of coffees. Took my own coffee down and used the jug of hot water to make coffee. Often I would have just toast and the butter substitute spread as never any butter available. Would not recommend or return to this hotel.

There are a lot of good things about this hotel, but a few items that need attention.
The hotel itself is set in a residential area overlooking a nature reserve, it is 10 - 15 minutes by car to the busier areas of St Julien, Sliema and Valetta. Taxis are readily available and there is a comprehensive bus schedule.
Hotel infrastructure is good, nice clean and bright bedrooms, good pool areas and poolside bar with plenty of appropriate furniture. . Rooms cleaned daily and generally to a high standard.
The Restaurant is bright and airy with some outside seating and comfortable furniture.
Breakfast runs on a "waited" buffet style with waiters filling your plate as you require whilst walking along the buffet presentation. The breakfast food was adequate, pastries very nice, good selection of fresh fruit and yogurts but the cooked was not to the same standard.
For dinner the food was generally pretty good with some interesting local items on the menu. I particularly liked the rabbit ravioli and the salmon. The service, however was wildly inconsistent and lacking in professionalism. Dirty main course dishes were sometimes left on the table when dessert was served, one wait of 1 hour 30 mins for our meal, staff appeared willing but untrained. When moving around a restaurant it should be fundamental that staff check tables are cleared of debris, that they look at their customers to see if anyone needs something and that the service goes beyond simply delivering a plate to a table.

Clearly guests are not the hotels priority!
We stayed here for a week, booked through Jet2 Holidays and would not return. The location is OK. Its a 20 minute walk to the local town which has more than enough restaurants and bars.
We stayed in a Penthouse apartment, which had its own very large terrace, over looking the pool. The suite was very "style over substance". It looks lovely, but practically for 2 adults for 7 days it was very unpractical. No bedside storage. Hairdryer provided didn't have the right plug! We were given 6 hangers, so requested more, which took 4 phone calls and several housekeeping visits 🤦🏼‍♀️. The TV in the lounge was Tiny and many of the channels had no signal. There was a fridge in lounge area which was good.
The bathroom was useless!!! It looked nice, but water pressure in the shower was useless, despite that the bathroom flooded continuously. Clearly the hotel knew this was a problem as there was a flimsy stool next to the bath to put towels on so they didn't get drenched. The issue was despite poor water pressure, the useless over bath shower couldn't contain the water and there was no curtain or screen so water just flooded over the tiled surround of the bath. Clearly there had been many bear slips as the towel rack was hanging off the wall. On the 3rd morning we were woken at 7am by maintenance team drilling directly above us. They were removing the hotel sign - but didn't think to drop us a note to warn us. Just as we thought noise couldn't get worse the sign crashed in to side of our room wall and took a huge chunk out of the fascia! When I spoke to the manager he couldn't care less that we had been inconvenienced. Just shrugged and told us duty manager would call. Maintenance team came to our room later on to look at damaged wall and locked us out of our room on our terrace. Utterly useless!
Our room was very basically cleaned daily, clearly COVID was not a priority for them. Our terrace wasn't cleaned once during our stay. Our feet were literally black every evening!
Really, couldn't have been less stress free. Clearly management have forgotten the importance of their guests!
