This was not a chateau, more a converted chapel/farmhouse. It is quite literally at the end of the road next to the Dordogne river. It is incredibly peaceful, tranquil and restful. There is absolutely nothing to do other than unwind. There is free wifi and is of a reasonable speed. The buildings have been restored to an exceptionally high standard...

A magnificent, historic building in the grounds of a vineyard, with beautiful rooms and lovely hosts. The setting is fantastic, just metres from the Dordogne. A lovely traditional French meal for dinner, accompanied by wine from the Chateau. All that and wine tasting beforehand. I wish we had stayed for longer!

My family of 4 stayed in April 2016. Small Chateau - has only 4 or 5 rooms, so we had the place to ourselves. Had 2 adjoining rooms at the Chateau. You need a car, but centrally located in Bordeaux on the river. We were seeking quiet, after traveling from Spain and it work well for us. eating breakfast in...

Do not expect a "chateau". It is more like a farm house with converted stables. The rooms are huge though and tastefully decorated. It's probably a good idea to have dinner there, we booked too late for that option. It is a working place so there are authentic working things around, not everything is picture perfect, but that actually adds...

We stayed for a week in April 2016 and loved the location, next to the Dordogne River and in the midst of a working vineyard. The Chateau was idyllic and the food exceptional. Our room, Grand Rose, was large, nicely furnished and very comfortable. The hosts, Frederic and Fabienne, were delightful, friendly and extremely helpful. We would definitely recommend this...

Excellent wines can be tasted and bought at a discount by guests. The wine tasting is a relaxed and very pleasant educational experience and the excellent dinners available mean that there is no need to drive back from a restaurant.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners were wonderful. The accommodations were excellent and we had dinner there both nights of our stay. It is in a secluded area on the river. It was very quiet and beautiful. They also make very nice wine which we enjoyed with our dinners. We highly recommend staying there.

Grounded, knowledgeable and brilliant vintners and hosts, Fabienne & Frédéric Mallier excel at hospitality. Grand merci à Sandrine, office manager! Excellent fare prepared by Fabienne, shared with our hosts and most interesting guests in a fabulous historic setting. Frédéric guided us on an informal and informative visit of the winery. The bottle of 2009 Château de la Vieille Chapelle Bordeaux...

We stayed just one night on our way down through France and it is certainly a beautiful spot, any closer to the Dordgone river and we would have been in it! We have never stayed in a vineyard before and were looking forward to learning more about the vines and the wine, this was our only disappointment. We did get...

We stayed here in May, unfortunately, and absolutely no fault of the hotel, the weather was dreadful, it was cold, raining and windy. But the hotel itself made up for that with an excellent dinner, and a fabulous breakfast that followed a comfortable night in a large and warm bedroom. We can wholeheartedly recommend the Chateau la Vieille Chapelle.
