Great facilities, well maintained site, stayed in a motorhome as a couple but intend to bring our grandchildren here next year (including our teenagers). Site looks up to the lovely Chateau ruins, nice willage with restaurants/bars within a few minutes walk, although no need to leave the site as bar/terrace really lovely. Owners speak better English than me! Had a...

We stayed here in our Motor home. The owners were very friendly, helpful and spoke English. Our site was large enough with tree and bush boundaries. The pool was quite large and heated and if you picked your times not too crowded. The showers and toilets were good and the old castle in the background was very picturesque.

Relaxed and well-maintained campsite in a unique setting: nestling between the ruined castle of Rauzan and the vineyard-topped hills on the other side of the valley. An excellent centre for investigating the Dordogne wine-country and just a few minutes drive from beautiful St. Emilion. Good facilities and generous pitches.

We stayed on this site for 5 nights in June this year. Thom and Pelagie were super hosts and made us feel welcome. Facilities were kept clean and the site is in such a pretty location beneath Rauzan castle with a relaxing pool and close to local vineyards and a short drive to St Emilion. We stayed during less than...

This is a good campsite led well by Thom, his wife and team. They run a tight ship. It is clean, well maintained with lots of good points, eg good clean pool, baguette and croissants that the kids can pick up in the morning. Football, volleyball, and a good TV room/bar. Mainly French and Dutch campers and a few (odd!)...

Thank you for your advice. We are happy to see that you enjoyed your stay at our campsite even if you did not understand everything about "les règles". Those simple rules are just set to keep a safe pool and a quiet place. Those rules are really easy to follow but sometimes we have to remind people who are forgetting...

We stayed for a week in a two bedroom tent with beds, seating area and a little kitchen, we had a lovely terrace area overlooking a green play area for the children. This campsite is small, friendly and extremely clean and tidy. We absolutely loved it, the kids had a ball. There is a great pool with smaller kids pool...

Thank you for that lovely advice. We are glad you really enjoyed your stay with us. Sorry that you found the treasure hunt "too serious". Actually, this was about Geocaching and this game has rules that should be explained to preserve the great experience. Next time we could have a private "fun" session with your kids to make them discover...

My girlfriend and I spent a week at Vieux Chateau. The camp site has large pitches but not a lot of shade. It's situated near the town of Rauzan surrounded by gorgeous vinyards with quite a lot to do and see in the area. Most of the visitors are either young families or older couples so expect lots of kids...

Thank you for your advice. Indeed, our campsite is focused on family activities in a quiet atmosphere. Including the family and RMP cabin, there are more toilets than what you describe here. But we are glad that you noticed the cleanliness of the place. Kind regards.

The campsites in France are very impressive and this was no exception. The couple running it were very helpful and friendly. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Owners since 2014, Thom and Pelagie welcome you to Camping du Vieux Chateau, situated at the foot of a medieval castle that adds a touch of magic to this quiet and green site. The campsite is just 200m walk from the village of Rauzan in Gironde. Located at 35 km from Bordeaux and 13km from Saint Emilion in the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards, this charming campsite is a central point to discover the treasures of the Aquitaine region (Bordeaux, Arcachon, Bergerac, Dordogne river, Dune du Pilat…) In 2015 a special focus has been paid to the renovation of the sanitary block and the camper-van service station. In 2016, new accommodations will replace the oldest mobile homes. In a park of 2,4ha, large and shady pitches for tents, caravans and motor homes are greatly appreciated by tourists who enjoy tranquility nature. The rental of mobile homes, cottages, bungalow tents and an atypical authentic Swiss-army truck is also possible for a quiet and pleasant stay. The large heated pool and children’s poll welcome the entire family. Upon booking, adult can enjoy the jacuzzi (36°c) for free. This campsite is eminently family-friendly, with activities and suggested excursions to suit all. During the high season, the snack-bar is open every night so you can eat and drink on site while on Thursday evenings you can enjoy festive evenings in a friendly atmosphere, ending at 23:30 to ensure a quiet night. Free wifi. Entertainment: archery, playground, bouncy castle, petanque, multi-sports field, jogging, craft market in season. In 2016, open from April to October. Ideas for outings in the near vicinity: Wine Chateaux and cellars, Grotte Celestine (Subterranean river and large caves), Medieval castle, mushroom cave…) ... more   less
