Whilst holidaying in the region we came here for a lunch time meal for my 40th birthday. The food and service was outstanding. My parents had pre-ordered a gluten free cake for me and it was the best cake I've ever tasted. A beautiful setting topped it off. Thankyou so much.

Stayed here as two couples for four nights. I am surprised by some of the ealier reviews which are clearly out of date and do not represent our experience. This small hotel has a calm rural setting. The old house has been beautifully and stylishly developed. Rooms are well equipped with fridge, kettle, coffee makers etc. And in particular with comfortable beds and very effective air conditioning.
As our stay was for Golden Wedding celebrations with friends who live nearby, we only ate in the restaurant one night. Our meal was well cooked and presented and included a range of fresh local ingredients. Breakfast each morning was a real treat and elegantly delivered to our table on a tray.
Overall, fantastic value and I have no hesitation in giving le Melchior the highest recommendation.

I drove here with friends and the welcome was none existent.
Service was not as I would expect and the food was average.
They couldn't really get a carpaccio of beef wrong, but the best part was the frites.
I chose profiteroles for dessert and it was ok.
I was not inspired to return.

Whilst on a two week holiday in La Rochelle, we booked a one night stay, to enable us to spend some time in St Emillion, the room was a good size, it was basic but comfortable. We did pay for breakfast to be included, The breakfast was good.

We unfortunately had a bedroom at the rear of the hotel and it was by todays standards basic. the was no wardrobe, just a set of hooks on the wall. The room is in need of serious modernisation and renovation. On the other hand my friends had a room at the front which was far superior but would benefit from some improvements. There is no air-conditioning so if you are considering staying summer might be uncomfortably hot and noisy if you open the windows. The hotel does have a very reasonably priced restaurant serving good food which we enjoyed.

Recommended by the chateau where we stayed, this was decent food, but not what I would have wanted in France. Fries and a salad (some lettuce with a bit of dressing) with every plate. Decent value, but a cinder-block interior painted white, all the charm of a Howard Johnson.

Superb restaurant outside the village, about ten km from the bustle of St Emilion. very welcome even without Reservation, smiling and pleasant waiters. We recommend creamy risotto and grilled tuna with mango, as well as profiteroles. Recommend without hesitation in the area. Very Good Value Award, everything is homemade, it's super good. Thank you for your welcome.

Super friendly staff, we stayed at this hotel for one night and felt at home, pampered by this magical place, we relaxed by the pool and enjoyed the kitchen products for dinner and breakfast... super recommended.
