A good half hour drive from Ajaccio including 10km of typical winding roads to reach the village which is hooked on a steep hill. But the reward is the awesome view especially at sunset ! The village itself has some charming little streets near the hotel. The concrete building isn't ageing too well ; the owners family is looking at renovating it though. A beautiful terrace welcomes diners all day but the best time is in the evening (beautiful wine list and great Corsican cuisine with very fresh and tasty ingredients). Rooms are of adequate size, with a terrace. Amenities are simple and probably date back a good 40 years. Small kitchen area. No airconditioning. Basic soap and shampoo available. Also, the sound insulation is poor. That's the main negative point of the hotel. Good breakfast with local jams and honey. Staff is very welcoming and helpful with activities and such. Unless you are very sensitive to your neighbor's sounds, this place is highly recommended.…
A family run hotel high up in the hills. The best location we found in Corsica. We arrived at night in the dark and thought we were lost when street lights appeared and after passing the main village came upon this jewel. Parking is on the street. Food is good. room basic but the location more than makes up for it. The owner speaks English and will advise on places to go.
It is rare to find a hotel such as this outside Corsica's main cities. There was a warm welcome and the food was outstanding. It is perfectly placed for exploring areas around Ajaccio. In May, you can find the wild Corsican paeony on a not too difficult walk on the nearby Monte Aragnascu which has fabulous views down over the bay. This hotel would have had five stars but it dates from the 1970s as does the plumbing and bathroom décor. But it all worked and was clean and there is something to be said for simple technology. The bed was modern and extremely comfortable. It is some way from a shop and our room had a helpful fridge and kitchenette - not that we intended cooking.
Yes the rooms are a bit dated, but the view and atmosphere is fantastic. The diner we had on the terraces is my best memory of Corsica, with great food and views. The staff and management are very friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and there was no noise. In the mountains it is cooler than at the coast.
We needed a place to stay for the last two days of our trip and came across this hotel. What a great find! Yes the place looks dated and the isolation is not great, but there is a lot to make up for that. Great service, the people here really want you to feel happy. The view is amazing and the food is fantastic ( breakfast and dinner) Serveral vegetarian options and use of local products. Dont be fooled by the exterior....go to this hotel!
