4 nights in beautiful surroundings in the heart of the Lange region of Piemonte. (10 mins drive to Alba, 30 mins to Asti, 20 mins to Barolo)

A family-run vineyard with a friendly / relaxed feel where nothing is too much trouble.

The rooms are stylish, with all the facilities of a modern 4* hotel.

Our standard double had a view up the valley to the village of Treiso. (I think the delux rooms would have a view down / across the valley).

Excellent recommendations for local evening dining including:
Taste
Osteria Italia (the best meal I have ever had)

And their wine is excellent

We will definitely be heading back at the next opportunity

So happy we were able to book this pretty much last minute, too bad we could not stay longer! The location, the house, the room, the service, the wine tasting, the renting of e-bikes and help in finding restaurants nearby for dinner etc etc was priceless. If I go to Alba again then I will definitely return here (and also have enough space in the luggage to bring some more wine back home!).

Really a big ten for Cascina Barac's hospitality and service! After I returned to my country, I found that I had forgotten my bracelet (which was very dear to me) in my hotel room. The person I contacted from Cascina Barac sent the bracelet back to me through the mail. Now that's called good service and trust. Thank you very much and we will definitely be back!

Agriturismo Barac is an elegant, beautifully remodeled villa, on a working vineyard a few kilometers outside Alba. Rooms have great views of the vineyards and countryside. Everything looks to be recently remodeled. Rooms are clean, comfortable and modern. This is not a "rustic" villa. Breakfast is provided and is excellent. There is no restaurant on the premises, but there are excellent restaurants a short drive away (a car is a must). Albino, the owner, spoke decent English and was very helpful with recommendations and arrangements. For example, the day we arrived, we couldn't pick up our car as it was a holiday. The owner personally drove us to an excellent nearby restaurant (I believe called "Osteria Italia"). The owners of the restaurant then drove us back to our villa!

This is an excellent base to explore Piedmont and is about a 15 minute drive from Alba.

We found the Barac to be exactly what we expected - a beautiful place in a beautiful setting in the midst of the Langhe. The dinners were as good as we've had anywhere in Italy, at any time. According to Albino, the chef has worked at some 5 star places and I certainly believe it. The meals were very imaginative, with super fresh ingredients, accompanied by the Cascina Barac wine. Fabulous sunsets from the front of the building, fabulous view of Treiso, an important Barbaresco town, from the back. Looking forward to our next stay at the Barac Service was friendly, with the owner happy to spend some time talking and joking with us.

This hotel was truly amazing! Located on a hilltop and surrounded by rolling hills and massive vineyards. Large, quiet, comfortable and tastefully decorated rooms with stunning views of the impressive countryside.
Friendly and helpful staff.
The breakfast buffet is excellent offering a good variety of both sweet and savory dishes.

The city of Alba is a short 10 minute drive. It's an ideal location when you plan to visit the various interesting surrounding villages or go on a truffle hunt.

I highly recommend this hotel and I will definitely go back next time.

The spot is really, really beautiful. If you like to look at vineyards this place is heaven! The simple and elegant way they decorated the hotel is very pleasing as well. It is tastefully done and really complements the background. We spend only one night at Cascina Barac but we would definitely go back. They have a lovely lawn in front scattered with various comfy chairs and chaises making it very relaxing.
I read other reviews and agree with the others who mention the odd reception by the owners. But when going to a place like this one should remember that these people are really farmers (or should be) and the prices they are charging for the pretty and rustic rooms and beautiful setting are quite low.
The wife was very friendly but never showed us to our room, she just served us some drinks, made our dinner reservations and left. We had to ask to be shown our rooms and by then she had disappeared and her husband was there. He definitely was weird. He just showed us the room and left. But it was this laid-back attitude that added to the feel of relaxation. Sort of like, just sit back, have a drink and don't worry about your room, it will be there.

And sitting outside you could just stare for hours at the gorgeous scenery and it is relaxing. Truly the type of place that just deflates the stress right out of you and makes you appreciate being alive.

The room was simple, rustic but again, gorgeous views. And a very good price IMO.
The place would be wonderful if there was a pool. It was quite hot on top of the hill.
We got a recommendation for the local restaurant and it was pretty good. Not fabulous but a wonderful atmosphere and of course great wine.

Breakfast was simple but tasty and we ate outside barefoot unable to stop looking at the hills, again, very relaxing.

Oh, and I liked that there was always tasteful music being pumped through inconspicuous speakers around the property. That added to the relaxed, vacation feel.
We also asked for a tour of the winery and were brushed off, that was a disappointment for us. The owner was sort of leering at me....kind of creepy. But overall, we loved the place.

What a find this place was! Part of Italy's "agritourism", Cascina Barac is located in the heart of the Piedmont wine region and is a perfect place to stay while exploring the wine country. The Piedmont countryside was beautiful with many little back roads to explore through the vineyards. We had the jr. suite which was clean, comfortable, spacious and affordable by European prices. The views of the surrounding vineyards were superb, and the bathroom was wonderful. The host, Albino, was very friendly and there was a free tasting of wines produced by the family winery in the early evening. The buffet breakfast was one of the nicest on our trip in Italy. We spent only one night here but hope to come back for a week or more. We would also highly recommend eating at Restorante La Ciau Del Tornavento in Treiso about 10 minutes away -- one of the best meals we have ever had anywhere.

I and 2 brothers took my 87 year old father back to wartime haunts and chose Cascina Barac. Albino, Wilma and Serge treated us like royalty and breakfasts and our final night meal (?9 courses I think) were absolutely outstanding. The farmhouse is set amid hectares of vineyards and the family vineyard offers free tours to guests and are extremely welcoming. I should have posted this as soon as I returned as it was a really excellent choice chosen from web surfing and I made direct contact with Albino by phone to discuss our requirements. My father had a beautiful room with balcony and the other rooms were luxurious too. The road to the farmhouse involves some tight turns but with lovely views. Highly recommended.

We stayed in the Deluxe Suite (w/kitchenette) and this was HUGE. It really was more like an apartment vs a hotel room. There was air conditioning in each room so that was really nice, esp. in the heat of the summer. Breakfast is okay -- not bad but not amazing. There is an array of bread/pastries, fresh fruits, meats and cheese, and includes one hot drink. There is an additional fee for more drinks or other breakfast entrees not featured in the buffet (i.e. eggs) but it's not expensive at all. The family that owns this estate is very warm and friendly. I didn't get their names unfortunately but the son welcomed us upon check-in and offered us complimentary glasses of spumante (which was delicious! we ended up purchasing multiple bottles). The mother, who runs the place, is an absolute saint. Their hospitality was shown even beyond the hotel grounds. We were driving along the road to Treiso and got stuck in a drainage ditch when the lovely owner happened to pass us, turned around, and called multiple people until she could get someone (it was her brother-in-law, who owns the property next door to Cascina Barac and he's also absolutely wonderful!) to help tow us out. She doesn't speak English really and yet she still made us feel so well taken care of. She even called the restaurant we were heading to (before we got stuck) to let them know we were running late. The location of Cascina Barac is pretty well-situated as it's an easy enough drive to Monforte d'Alba, Barbaresco, Neive, etc. We recommend hiring the e-bikes (25 euros for 4 hours, 40 euros for 8 hours per person) and exploring the region. Because it's electric, it makes going up the hills quite easy. They are happy to recommend restaurants and make the reservation for you, which we appreciated. There is plenty of parking so you do not need to worry about that. The only thing that would have made this place absolutely perfect is if it had a pool! But overall, we had a lovely stay and enjoyed our time here.

we could not recommend this little hotel highly enough.. they looked after us very well... you most definitely need a car as this vineyard is tucked away up in the hills about 3 miles outside of Alba. Roads are narrow, and steep, so would not recommend a bicycle unless you are fit...September is a good time, wine growers have picked the grapes and the truffle season is active. a lovely part of the world... go there
