The Castello di Fonterutoli B&B is very charming! The rooms are inside great stone houses that were remodeled. Rooms are big, have high ceiling, are bright, comfortable, clean. The bed is huge and super comfy. Very good linen and towels. Great shower. Breakfast was very good, many options of bread, corneto, fruit, cereal, yogurt. Don't miss tasting their wines! It's...

We arrived late at fonterutoli, around 17:30h after a daytrip driving by car and visiting bagnoregio in our ride from Rome to The Castello. The person at the local barely showed us our room and after we accomodate ouselves, we noticed that there was no water at our suite and there was nobody else to call in local or via...

Our stay at this villa was the best part of our trip in Tuscany. As we arrived, we were offered a glass of local wine while our check-in was being made. Our bedroom was just perfect: traditional, romantic and comfortable. We had a shared living room and kitchen which made us feel just like at home. The hotel`s restaurant is...

Every little touch in this magnificent ancient hotel was carefully decorated with the international guests needs in mind. The people at the reception are indeed friendly & professional. We loved our enormous & chic room with a great balcony with views of Chianti vineyards. The bathroom is superb with luxurious towels & a tub shower out of Architect Digest.( heated...

Great hospitality. Friendly and knowledgeable. We where lucky enough to get a private tour. Do book in advance as the English tours are limited. Booking online was quick and simple, even same day. Great wines. Do try the Osteria on the property. The menu is carefully chosen. Great quality price for a lovely lunch overlooking the landscape.

We drive from Siena to Chianti to visit this winery, the drive took 30 mins by car and was easy to find with Tom Tom. We did not know what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. This is a winery where you have to prebook, they do this to keep the numbers down. They started by giving us a history...

Castello di Fonterutoli left somehow mixed feelings during our 2 week holiday in the Tuscany Region. We booked a Superior triple room with bath/shower for € 160.00 which included breakfast. We stayed in 4 different hotels in Tuscany and after comparing all hotels, we can say that out stay in this hotel is rather average. Location in a plus but...

Never before have I had such problems tasting and trying to buy wine as I have in this Chianti region. Just pathetic that unless you book a tour of every winery and have lunch at every winery is the only way to taste and buy their wines and this place is no exception. Just pathetic and really a great way...

The lodgings have all the modern conveniences in traditional stone villas near one another on the gorgeous grounds of the winery that has been owned and operated by the Mazzei family since 1435. An hour south of Florence, this is a fabulous place to stay and enjoy their hospitality, food & wine, but also ideally located to drive by car...

My wife, two sons and their wives and our 14 year old granddaughter had never been to Tuscany and received a recommendation to stay at Castello di Fonterutoli. We rented the entire Fattoria house which accommodated us all plus includes a large living room and kitchen. It was fabulous. Maintained its historical charm while having modern conveniences. Very comfortable! We...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Castello di Fonterutoli estate offers 12 country-chic rooms inspired by the colors of Chianti and restored with authentic taste by the family architect, Agnese Mazzei. All the rooms are located in the historic homes of the Fonterutoli hamlet, the true heart of the estate since centuries, and provide the special feeling of "living in a Tuscan country village". The hamlet houses the Fattoria, Roseto, Limonaia and Carpentiere historic homes, where all of the rooms are located, as well as the Enoteca di Fonterutoli where wine tastings are held, and the Osteria di Fonterutoli Restaurant, both only few steps away from any of our rooms. Ranging in size from 70 to 200 square feet (20 square meters to 60 square meters), all of the rooms boast their own personality with charming, comfortable bedrooms, individual bathrooms, village views, and panoramic terraces with countryside vistas. They all maintain the ambiance of a quintessential Chianti country house. Ancient terra cotta floors, exposed ceiling beams, and precious family antiques provide a warm and inviting atmosphere, making Fonterutoli an ideal environment in which to savor Tuscan country life. Outdoor activities such as hiking, biking and horseback riding can be easily arranged during Guests' stay. Wine tours of our spectacular winery, wine tastings as well as visits to nearby villages and towns, local farms, factories and artisan shops can be organized. Cooking classes can also be arranged and are available on the property. Guests can reserve individual rooms located within the historic homes throughout the hamlet. Upon request, or in case of larger groups, the entire apartment can be reserved, where guests have full use if the kitchen. ... more   less
